Breaking Into LoL

this past Friday I watched a video over at the Game Informer site that documents the sorry attempt of Dan Ryckert to get into a game of League of Legends. He'd completed the tutorials and knew what the basic ideas were in the game, and he even lucked out to the extreme with the people he was partnered up with as teammates during matchmaking. Ryckert more or less throws the match due to his disinterest in changing tactics during the game...if you watched the video, you'd see that he just does the same things over and over regardless of how they affect his team.

Contrary to the popular perception of the MOBA community, Ryckert even had teammates who were really cool toward him, trying to explain certain things to him on the fly and not chiding him harshly for "feeding" (dying excessively at the hands of the same character) the other team. They eventually break down on him and accuse him of trolling after the game is lost.

All of this prompted me to download the game and check it out for myself. After all, seeing Dan Ryckert suck that bad made me happy. There's no way I'm going to play in such a selfish manner. Anyhow, I just thought I'd share that I'm xDarthKillx in League Of Legends, amd my display name is DSPiiZed (despised). I've made it through the tutorials and am going to go get my ass handed to me shortly.

Will report back in another blog as to how it's all going!

I know that Mike, one of the Pixlbit staff members, plays LoL. I've never tried it... don't have the time to learn it, etc. Seems fun though.

One of these days i'm going to install LoL. I never had any experience with the MOBA games, but it seems like a good intro and I have a friend that plays it that can help me. I just need to find the time where I want to play it.

I couldnt get into MOBA's. I tryed one and it was not my cup of tea. I hope you have more fun with it!

I think dota 2 has better tutorials. But you have to practice a lot for these games almost like a real sport team. So many other games to play though.

Hey man. I'm sorta new to LoL as well. Well, I played for a bit but I'm not very good. So if you want to play some games sometime I'd be up for it.

I'm down for this. I finished Dark Souls 2 and I'm interested in getting into something with more depth.

I'm not too much into League, but I love Dota. Everyone in my school plays League but I don't want to be sucked into that vortex lol. I have too many other games to play

I actually ate lunch with one of the guys at Insomniac Games today and he said he was a huge LoL guy.

i got my ass beat down in the tutorial. I was using the ranged character, Ashe the archer...i didnt spend much time looking at the powerups to buy for ranged. I was getting entirely too close to the melee enemy champions and it wasn't working out well. Next practice match I'm going to enlarge the range of Ashe's bow, see if it works out a bit differently.

I hope there's an item I can buy that increases range, anyway.
