Super Mario Gets The Game Of Thrones Treatment, And What I Played

Well Good Morning good people of the Pixlbit Community! Hope the weekend was good and filled with tons of gaming, and you might have knocked a couple of games from your backlog/pile of shame. So here we are on a breezy Monday morning (it’s an odd 81 degrees, and quite breezy here in Sunny SoCal). I’d like to say I tried out a bunch of games but let’s be honest I’ve been playing a ton of MLB The Show with Video Game Chris is near the end of his first full season in the majors chasing the triple crown. It’s getting tough because every pitcher on the planet is throwing low pitches and the slider is eating me alive. I saw this last week and I thought I would share it with you good people
Super Mario Bros getting the Game Of Thrones intro treatment
I saw that video on Flipboard, and here is the link to the article. There was also another article I saw this morning while watching the local news
I don’t have a PS4 and I don’t use Twitch, so this pending purchase doesn’t mean anything to me, but for you folks will it affect you?
So of the couple of games I did play that weren’t named MLB The Show, I thought I’d talk a bit about them
Borderlands 2 – Vita
I hit Level 10! I played a ton on Saturday, and I think I pushed it a bit because I got a little dizzy, so I didn’t touch the game at all on Sunday. This game is fun but the driving is terrible, some of the comedy is hilarious, and I think I spotted a Game of Thrones reference
After seeing this, I did some investigative work…and by investigative, I mean Google, I read that there are a bunch of different pop culture references. I can’t wait to see the other ones.
Disney Maleficent: Free Fall – Android
Yeah I played this movie tie-in and to tell you the truth it isn’t bad. Maleficent is your typical match 3 game with a bunch of different things thrown in. Think Candy Crush without all the in-app purchases thrown into your face. An interesting thing about this game is that there is a “3D” treatment for the background above the game screen where if you shift your tablet it moves.
If you played any of the recent match 3 games you should be used to the board game level layout where you unlock the next level by completing the tasks in the previous level.
The early levels act like a tutorial where it explains the various obstacles in the game along with the different magic options that are available. The player is giving a generous amount of these bonus items that you can earn more of as you progress throughout the game. You really don’t need to use these items because the puzzles are not that difficult.
After you complete the level you view a screen where your points are totaled and you can view your star rating. Again typical stuff if you play any of these games.
The game board itself is your basic board with either a young Maleficent or the Angelina Jolie Maleficent, depending on how far you advanced into the game. Currently I just started Chapter 3.
I spent a couple of hours playing this game and I am enjoying it. I applaud Disney with a disclaimer when you first boot the game up about having in-app purchases for more lives. I don’t know how easy or difficult it is to purchase these lives but it’s nice to see a company like Disney take steps to warn people who let their kids play these games.
Spirit Stones – Android
I think I am almost done with the second portion of the world map, but I need to upgrade my party a bit because my team is getting worked before the big boss battle in one of the few levels I have left before advancing.
I won this in a daily spin, but I have no idea to where I am supposed to redeem it.
I also won this card in their daily log in. Basically all you do is log in for I think 10 days straight, with each day having some sort of prize, and the final day is this card. I’m currently in Day 3 of my next 10 days. If I get the same card I’m evolving them.
Family Guy: Quest For Stuff – Android
I kept running into this when trying to log in. No…No. I’m thinking of saving up the clams to buy her “premium” character.
This is my current Quahog. It has grown a bit since last time I posted about it. Most of the town is full of my Office Farm, to boost the hourly cash intake. One of the tricks I brought over from Simpsons Tapped Out.
I unlocked Asian Town with Connie D’Amico, and in the process of unlocking Asian Reporter Trisha Takanawa.
I also finally unlocked Brian and earned 25 clams for collecting this group
I also found my new favorite quest of Emo Chris beating up Quagmire.
Simpsons Tapped Out – Android
The Easter egg hunt ended and it is a shame that I wasn’t allowed to sell back some eggs for cash. I had a couple thousand of each color because I was trying to unlock each of the special characters, and I think I mentioned that Shary Bobbins was a pain in the ass to get.
I also found one of my new favorite quests in this game where Homer fights with the Easter Bunny guy after telling him Disney owns the rights to the Easter Bunny. Bonus shot of Disco Stu walking around.
Ok Pixlbit we shall end this blog here…but before I go Toys R Us has dropped the price of Skylanders starter packs to $32 and some change, and the figures are buy 1 get 1 50% off. I’m not going to lie, this is tempting.
That’s all for now, more later!
-Chris
