Darainto Smash Bros.!
I love Super Smash Bros. It's my most favorite fighting game ever and I owe alot to that game but that's for another blog. I eam it's not something that's overly complex but rather just a game you can just have fun with friends and family. Of course you could also play the game more seriously though. I tend to do both. It's just really franctic, you never know what happens, and it's jsut so fun despite being Nintendo fan-wank.
But one of the things I like alot about these games is the amount of playable characters it gives you. Not a fan of Mario (and who isn't) then there's Luigi. Don't want to use Link? Here's Zelda. Want to beat everyone with someone who can beat everyone? Well there's Kirby for that. Or Captain Falcon. That's one of the things I love about the games, besides all the stages and obvious fanservice to Nintendo fans like me. I try using as many characters as I could because it's fun, plus it's really good too since you have to switch up strategies more often when playing with other people. I mostly just use my favorites but do hold my own perfectly fine even if they aren't the best characters. This new one seems to be bringing some really neat characters plus some older faces with new moves. Here are the characters I'm excited to use:
Veterans:
Marth was one of my favorite characters in Melee, he was from a franchise that was unheard of here in the U.S. but I guess Nintendo decided to bring the Fire Emblem games due to Marth and Roy's popularity. He was a pretty cool character, even though I had no idea what he said when he won so I asume it's japanese. His moves were really neat, he can attack fast, hit hard, and counter almost any move. Plus his combos are are a bit hard to pull off but satisfying to master. I'm glad he's back and I guess you could say he's the official mastcot/poster boy of the Fire Emblem series in SSB. Wonder what new tricks he'll bring this time?
Link has always been one of my favorite characters in SSB, he was never the fastest character but he could hold his onw in a fight. He also brings his arsenal of equipment to make things interesting, plus his shield could block both physical and projectile moves. He also has pretty good attack range too. I do wonder why they decided to use TP Link over the SS one but I guess it's because if they used the Skyward Sword Link, they wouldn't be able to add SS Zelda or Ganondorf? Not sure but glad they are using the Twilight Princess Link because that's probably my favorite design for adult Link.
Possibly everyone's favorite Pokemon from the 4th Gen, I know he was one of my favorite Pokemon for that gen too. I was honestly surprised to see him back in the game, and this time he's packing some new abilities. Plus I think he has his Mega-Evolution for his final smash. I guess you can teach an old Pokemon new tricks. Speaking of old Pokemon...
My favorite starter Pokemon from the very first Pokemon games and possibly everyone's favorite 1st Gen Starter, Charizard makes his return. It's interesting to see a Charizard without a Pokemon trainer but I can see why, Charizard is packing his Mega Evolution from Pokemon X, plus Pokemon Trainer's Pokemon was Ivysaur which still needs to evolve into Venusaur touse Mega Evolution, and Squirtle which needs to evolve into Wartortle and Blastoise to pull off a Mega Evolution. Plus I'm guessing Sakurai was thinking Triple Finish would be the cheap way out. Who knows what he was thinking but it's cool to see Charizard to be his own Pokemon, but with Pikachu Lucario, Charizard, and Greninja, it's safe to say Jigglypuff is not going to be in the game, but who knows?
Everyone's favorite italian plumber from Brooklyn makes his return but he has to, he is the face of Nintendo. I'm not sure if Mario has new moves to be honest, but I do like using Mario. He's a basic all around fighter perfect for beginner or veteran players. Plus he's really fun to use. He brings the platforming to Smash Bros but we all know Smash Bros is really a platforming game with some fighting thrown in there.
Toon Link was my main character in Brawl. My brother is a beast with Kirby and Sonic and Toon Link was the only character I can use against either of them, besides Wolf but he isn't in this game. I was really surprised when he was announced as a veteran, I honestly expected Link from A Link Between Worlds but here is the pattern for these reveals: When a new Nintendo game comes out, a new character get's revealed from that game, think about it. If Nintendo does announce a new F-Zero game, then that's when we'll finally realize our dreams of seeing Captain Falcon in SSBWiiU/3DS. But back on Toon Link, he looks really awesome, infact I think he looks better than what he did in Wind Waker HD. I'm definitely going to use him again.
Zero Suit Samus or the one character the internet blew up over saying that she's sexist for having high heels and well having bigger boobs. I mean who the fuck cares! I mean as technology advances, so will the looks of a character, Samus isn't always going to look the same in all the Metroid or Smash Bros games. Plus she can wear whatever she goddamn pleases. Hell she can wear a bikini for all I care, infact that's what she was wearing in the first Metroid game and people didn't gave a fuck for that, and now people are complaining over some heels. She was wearing less clothes in her first game under her suit but no, people complain over shoes. Okay rant over.
I'm really excited to play as her but this is just a cheap way to expand the roster in my opinion, I mean Zelda can't transform into Sheik, and Samus' suit is now self aware. What's next, Charizard not having a Pokemon Trainer...nevermind. But I'm really excited to play as her, she is still athletic but she is packing some new moves and her rocket heels bring a new twist to her abilities. I'm not sure if people like her Other M design but that's exactly where her design comes from, she looked just like that in Other M, but I guess people didn't play the post game.
Newcomers:
Wii Fit Trainer got alot of hate when she was revealed due to the fact that Nintendo was teasing a huge announcement at the time when she was announced. I don't see the hate, I mean every SSB game has a character like this, like in Melee we had the Ice Climbers and Mr. Game and Watch, in Brawl we had R.O.B. and Olimar, so it's only natural we see a character in that regard. I only wish she used the Balance Board to whack people with.
Megaman is quite possibly the biggest addition to the series, people have been wanting this character for years and Sakurai decided to please that appetite. But the most shocking part of it all is that Capcom allowed Nintendo to put Megaman in the game. I also think it's a reason why he was cut or not present in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 because we're seeing Megaman in HD for the first time and Bad Boxart Megaman from that Street Fighter/Tekken game doesn't count. People wouldn't be so excited for him if we had already seen him in HD, plus I expected X but it was a surprise to see his classic look here. He also brings his skills and powers from the Megaman and Marvel vs. Capcom games meaning he will have alot of different playstyles. He's probably the most exciting character from the newcomers.
Punch-Out is one of those great but not well know Nintendo games. Punch Out on the Wii was a great game but it obviously got overlooked but we are actually seeing Little Mac again in Smash Bros but this time as a fighter, not an assist trophy. I'm really excited to use him, and he doesn't kick and he is more vulnerable in the air which is interesting but cool to see they are at least using Punch Out logic there. His punches pack a lot of power, he could probably give Captain Falcon a run for his money, if he was already announced.
Rosalina is the character I'm most excited to play as from the new fighters. Why? Samus and Rosalina are my most favorite female characters and seeing one of my favorite characters from the Mario Galaxy games is well, it just has me excited. I love how they updated her look, I mean she basically looks the same, but like in every Samsh Bros, every character get's a slight redesign. I also like it that Luma will be her helper and works just like the Ice Climbers. Plus her moves are very neat, she can pull items and stuff closer to her, I really don't remember all her moves but at least she isn't a Peach clone or whatever. Plus her final smash is really neat, wish it would of been the Obsevartory that she summons and the Lumas come and attack or something. Plus she has this sort of elegant presence when you see her in this game, I don't even think she's a princess, more like a goddess based on the pwer she has. All in all, I'm really excited to play as her.
And that's all the characters I'm looking forward to use, based on the announced roster, there were more but this list would be way too long. And I'm sure I probably missed someone and most likely your favorite, but they weren't important enough to remember, but I'm kidding on that last part. Who are you excited to play as? Next time I'll write a list of characters that they should add to the game, thanks for reading and later.
