Anticipating E3

E3 2014 is about two weeks away and I’m sure that all of you are as psyched as I am. As many of you are watching like a dog for certain titles I’ll also keep an eye out for certain announcements, especially Nintendo’s E3 Direct.

It’s sad that Nintendo will only do a Direct this year as last E3 but hopefully it won’t be a let down with the new Smash Bros. games coming out this year. While the Smash Bros. Direct showcased much of the games there still could be a few more announcements. We may even see Captain Falcon as well as a tie in announcement. As for the Pokemon remakes, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, we may see actual gameplay when the last update of the editorial were cutscenes of legendaries Groundon and Kyogre. Hopefully their first party games will include a return of classic series, such as F-Zero, while giving third parties and indies some high quality showcasing, but there has been one game that didn’t get an update for some time: Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. Let’s hope that we’ll actually get some news about its development.

While watching the Nintendo Direct I’ll also keep a look out for developer news: Atlus for the upcoming Persona Q and Persona 5 titles, Gearbox and Telltale Games for Tales from the Borderlands and Borderlands: The Pre Sequel, and Epic Games for Unreal Tournament 2014.

While I’m not an owner of Sony and Microsoft’s current gen consoles I will watch their conferences for anything that may interest me.

That’s what I’ll be watching for so let’s hope we get some big news this year. Till next time.

Yarn Yoshi hasn't had any news like SMT X FF but hopefully we'll see more news at E3. I may have all 3 (PS3/360/WiiU) but I'm more interested with what Nintendo shows. Here's hoping for Captain Falcon and a new F-Zero as well as some Pokemon news.

If there's going to be a new F-Zero game and it's also coming to the 3DS then that's three games I'm going to save up for.

I'm excited for the new Xeno game.  It looks amazing.  I hope that comes out this year.

I'm not much of a fan of Xeno but mechs I can get behind.

I am looking forward to any new game announcements that companies may have.  I already know what games I am excited for to come out and don't need to be sold on them anymore.  Plus, I like going into games with less information than they typically show off at these conferences...   That makes no sense.

I know. As soon as they announced Mega Man as a Smash character I was like, "Say no more."

This E3 looks like it's going to be better, at least in terms of games, than last year, because last year everything was overshadowed by the console reveals. I'm excited to see how far the new Star Wars Battlefront and Final Fantasy 15 are coming along.

With the new consoles out of the way let the games pour in. Also which one was FF15?

I'll be watching Insomniac Games closely out of curiosity about what they were unable to share with us at the panel I attended last Tuesday.

I feel like Nintendo is giving up on WiiU.  They are going to release their Legend of Zelda in 2015 and maybe throw some more quirky Japanese titles at us after Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors fail, and then they will be moving on to their next system (in game development) and then the WiiU will see a whole year with maybe one release before the next console launches.

Nintendo is determined not to make any change of course with WiiU to such a degree that they will just ride it until it is literally selling 20k units per month next spring and they are forced to release a whole new product.  The main reasons I feel they are acting so stubborn (refusing to release a sku without the tablet and refusing to create new Western second parties) are because Iwata cannot confirm that he was wrong about the touch screen/online gaming/asymmetrical gaming and Iwata doesn't want to confirm that gamers don't want a touch screen controller with their console (probably because the man is planning yet another console with a touch screen controller).
