*I've saved all my Blogs from 1up now, i'm not willing to lose all that work so till I decide to create something new (like that Pandora's Tower Non-review  I've been putting off Foot in Mouth). So, just incase you missed it...I'm getting my game music Blogs out of the way*

I love Guilty Gear big time, almost as much as Sonic the hedgehog, it's my all-time favourite fighting series. One of the most memerable this about this game (besides all the useless buckes) is the music arguably the best arrangment in any Fighting game Metal and Blues being the motif.

About 2 years ago in London my mates and I met Diasuke Ishiwatari the designer and composer of the series (along with Toshimichi Mori designer to Blazblue) and and he signed my surprisingly and surprisingly expensive (over $300 on Amazon) soundtrack collection I had gotten months prior.

Recently another mate of mine asked me about what exactly it was and what it had in it so I decided to do this blog.

This Box was realesed in November 2005 limited to I suspect 3000 copies, it includes all the songs of Gulty Gear OST, Gulty Gear X OST, Gulty Gear X Heavy Rock Tracks, Gulty Gear XX OST, Gulty Gear Isuka OST and Gulty Gear Arranged Tracks.

All together it has 8 CDs

Here is the 28 page booklet signed by Daisuke, a lot is in Japanese but the names of songs, games and other details are English.

Now the box with 8 songs worth of sheet music which is all kinds of awesome I can't pin it down, talk about above and beyond. The songs featured are, NoontideKeep Yourself Alive IIHoly Orders (Be Just or Be Dead)Nothing Out of the OrdinaryKage Matsuri (Festival of Shadows) (name written in Japanese), Fuuga (Elegance) (also in Japanese), Liquor Bar & Drunkard and Suke a Sage.

I bought this in a shop selling untranslated Manga for £30 in 2010 and I still pop the CDs in, screw Youtube.Tongue Out

So has anyone else bougt game soundtracks. Which ones you're favourite? (who much did it set you back?)

This is V saying "Heaven or Hell!... LET ROCK!!"

The closest I've come to paying that much for music was when Bad Religion put all their LPs from the 80s to 2011 in a vinyl box set... and it was ltd edition, so I no longer see it in their store. Cry Looks like you got some damn cool booklets and a nice collection, though, plus it's signed, which is awesome!

Dug those two tracks you posted. Guilty Gear X2 was one of my absolute favorite games on PS2, and possibly my favorite fighting game.

I don't think I've ever bought game music soundtracks, but I did buy the soundtracks for a couple movies, MI:2, Spider-Man and Star Wars Episode I, and of those only Episode I is an OST. I don't know what game's music I'd buy, probably a Zelda title's OST or a compilation of rock/metal Mega Man covers if I did. Of course, there's tons of great video game music I'd love to have, I'm just not sure what I'd buy in terms of OSTs.

I think they've re-released some of the Sonic and Zelda soundtracks for a reasonable price and rock/metal of Mega Man? my mate Fortell bought that a while back

It pretty goodSmile

I often buy the arranged albums too, they're kind of better to listen to then when you here them in the game some fall flat but others you just need to buy. Downloads aren't enoughTongue Out

I don't download music, at least not illegally; your tongue-out smiley does not apply to me Tongue Out lol.

I'll listen to that Rockman Rock CD and see if I like it, but it's going to have to at least match some of the independently uploaded stuff I've heard on Youtube, which is amazing.

I know, and I got Dethalbum II and an Eminem video that way, but I'm like you, I prefer CDs. Especially since the download fucked up and I'm missing two songs from Dethalbum II. Yell

Man, I couldn't say how much all told I've spent on game soundtracks. But since most were multi disc imports problyabout $50 each. Most of mine are Final Fantasy, but I also got Castlevania Symphony of the Night, the PS1 Ghost in the Shell, and the arranged version of Vectorman. The Guilty Gear games are awsome, big fan of 2-d fighters in general. You should look up The Mini Bosses and The Advantage, two really cool bands that do covers of classic video game music. Laters!

Geez, GitS game had a cd? Must give it a try, love the series in general. I've heard of The Mini Bossess but never bothered to seek them out, Thanks for the recommendationSmile

No prob. The GitS  soundtrack is basically extended remixes of what was in the game. Been jamming it for over a decade, it never gets old.

Guilty gear does have some bitchin art and music! My favorite characters were Dizzy, Eddy,Potemkin, and Testament though ironically I wasn't the best at using them in matches. I was rather good with Jam, May,Chipp, Sol, and Ky though!

Slayer, Order Sol, Ky the rest i'm a little okay with using my fav is Slayer and Order Sol especially there in game cutscene, you can feel the fire coming through the screenCool

Order Sol was weird. I always pictured Sol as the embodiment of pure anarchy. lol. However, I do think he used to be apart of the same knightly order Ky belongs to for awhile. Then he got fed up with the bureaucratic bull-crap.

I like his play style it's more thoughtful, the ability to charge he felt more agressive one reason i prefer Ken to Ryu.

Anyway. from what i remember readinf Sol being the first Gear was kinda wonky so had that headband made to control himself. During the great Crusade against the Gears and Kliff the old guy from the first recruted him during and after Sol was marginally defeated by Justice wanted to take back the Jinki (fireseal his standard weapon now) he created 100 years ago. He was caught by Ky feeling he wasn't worthy but defeated him, Kliff stopped Ky from calling for reinforcements telling them both he was going to give the weapon to Sol anyway. Since then set off as a bounty hunter

I can tell you all of us who went through archiving all our old blogs breathed a sigh of relief when we finally finished that. I only blogged every few weeks most of the time, but I could have written a book with all that material!

I've never played Guilty Gear though I have wanted too. That is a pretty epic release though!

Yeah, knowing i've saved all that writing is a load of my mind too, it helped a lot with my Uni work surprisinglyTongue Out

You should give it a try, i think PSN has GGXX: Accent Core + Online in the US by now, It's fun, goofy and fast pace with blood and swearing (before the censorship)Laughing

The old school feel is one of the things I actually really liked! Idk, I think because I have only played one of the GG games compaired to playing more BlazBlue games may be a reason that factored in.

the 2 games are just different enough to broaden the audience. GG is harder to get into that BB.

I don't really play fighting games, so I missed out on this music, but it's pretty outstanding.

It is, most characters have rock influenced names and moves, the main characters theme song is named after a queen songCool

REPRESENT! I fucking love Guilty Gear, because I have a huge hard-on for sprite fighters, and perhaps I-No, but who knows :P  The soundtrack from the Guilty Gear games is so god damn good - it's the ultimate metal-infused soundtrack, beating out even F-Zero X for most brutal video game soundtrack.  I'm going to play GGXX#Reload when I get home now!

That's the spirit! Like the F-Z X soundtrack myself, might get it one daySmile
