We Got a Puppy!

After months of searching and planning, my wife and I finally got a puppy!  He's an adorable 8 week-old Maltese pup.  Hasn't had his shots and vaccinations yet, but we're taking him to the vet on Thursday to get him checked out and make sure he a has a clean bill of health.  All seems well so far though. We got him this past Friday from a nice family in Salisbury, MD.

Originally, we had arrangements to get the same breed of dog from a family near Manassas, VA, but a they decided to sell it to another buyer for a higher price at last minute just after my wife and I got off work early for the day.  I was really disappointed, but decided to just move and keep looking.  About 2 hours later, I checked Craigslist and found a seller in Salisbury, MD offering a male and female Maltese pup. Two families were coming to see about the female, but no one had inquired about the male yet.  so I asked if we could come to the house to check out the male pup that night.

The price was right-- and more reasonable than what the seller in VA wanted for the same age breed with no shots\vaccinations.  At first she was apprehensive about us coming over after a certain time in the evening because only her parents would be home, and they speak more Spanish than English.  After reassuring her that we both speak Spanish (my wife speaks it perfectly), she was delighted and told us that were free to come by any time before 11:00pm. Her father was even nice enough to take and extra $50 off the asking price since we had quite a distance to travel.

So we hopped in the car, drove 2 and half hours south to Salisbury.  We met the pup's mother and sister (the poppa pup lived in New Jersey, but was known by the seller's parents).  The meeting went well, we paid for our pup, and another 2 and half hours later, we arrived home with our new addition!

We don't have a name for him yet, but we were thinking of calling him "Skips" named after a character on Regular Show.  Also, the pup runs so fast, it almost looks like he's "skipping" foot steps.  We'll settle on a name tonight though.  If you have any suggestions, that would be cool too.

The cuteness is infectious!

Skips is not bad for a name.

Wow talk about quite an adventure, but it was all worth it for the puppy. So the puppy doesn't have a permanent name? I think there's a Pixlbit contest right there Tongue Out

What a cute pup!  He looks like that bear from the Snuggle laundry commercials.

You should name him Super Ultra Mega Pup.  Or Skips will do.

Salisbury is near where I used to live, in Berlin, MD.  Congrats on the pup, man!  My new pup is driving our older dogs bonkers!

I have a Maltese. Prepare for one of the most loyal and human friendly dogs there is.  Follows us everywhere, always wants to be in close proximity to a human being.

D'awww. I have a malchi myself, and I agree with Machocruz.

Congrats. Jason's brother and sister-in-law have had two Maltese. I don't believe they're dogs, though. I think they're muppets pretending to be dogs. I didn't like the first one, but Echo is a real sweetie, even if he's a muppet pretending to be a dog.

Oh no! Not another demon dog! What's the deal with people on here getting dogs as pets? No love for the kittes?

Dogs, I'm not really a pet person.
