AFK: Happy Wedding to You!

Two in a row! Not good!
I know I said I had planned to “unleash the floodgates” in my last AFK blog, but once again things got in the way of even those plans of a humble return. So what kept me? Read on and see if you’re interested!
Reason 1: Family wedding!
This event I kind of knew of since the beginning of the year. But what I hadn’t planned on was me having a very active part in helping with the wedding all during the month of April. I had originally thought I was just to assist in some coordinating of my sister’s wedding. In the end I ended up being a camera man/decorator/makeup test dummy/transporter/guest seater/enforcer and rug runner. The odd part was that I did half of these jobs before I even arrived in New England for the wedding. And no I didn’t dance gangnam style during the reception nor is their proof of such an event happening because I deleted all footage of the event…honest!
Reason 2: Head cold!
If anyone followed me on twitter you’d have noticed me taunting the New England area to do its worst. I was determined it wasn’t going to get me killed. Though despite some run in with the usual idiots out there I was #stillalive but instead I somehow caught a head cold. I didn’t feel well during the last days but was able to beat if odd during the plane ride back home. But it decided to flare up again and stayed with me for the better half of three weeks. So you can expect that I didn’t have enough energy for anything else after coming home from work and performing my usual household duties. Even now my throat still feels dry if I swallow a certain way.
Reason 3: web browser issues!
Remember how I said I wrote a lot of blogs during my 1st quarter internet down time? We I still have them ready for posting. But oddly this time around I’m having problems trying to post blogs on the various SN sites I use. The worst one being 1up.com at the moment where I get error messages whenever I log in, and even after I do finally log in I’m unable to upload any blogs or comment to anything. It looks like my days on 1up.com might finally be numbered! IGN is the second worst ever since they updated their website. Pixlbit hasn’t given me much trouble when it comes to commenting on blogs/articles but I can’t seem to get my blogs to post right despite all the copying/pasting I do. The only difference I’ve noticed with my set up has been the updating of the web browsers I have. I’m still fiddling with them to see how to make them work but so far the last blog I wrote (with just a few words and video embeds) took me an hour to post. AN HOUR!
Reason 4: moar gaming!
I’ve found myself enjoying games more and more often these past few days. I guess after buying all I have during my birthdays (blog about those MyBuys coming soon) I’ve felt the need to play what I have acquired thus far. I even went as far as re-organizing my PS3 game folders so I have a better time trying to find all the PSN/PSOne Classic/PSOne Imports/Demos I have on my system. I’ve even begun dusting off the retro systems I have down in my dungeon in preparation for the summer. In fact I’m starting to have an urge for some retro gaming goodness as of late…
Reason 5: Lots of messages.
I’m still trying to get caught up on my messages on pixlbit. So far I’m caught up on IGN and some odd new settings have made most of the blogs I follow on 1up.com go away. I’m down to just 200+ messages right now. Still working on it!
Reason 7: Re-evaluating my interest as a gamer!
I guess you can say I might be overcompensating as a gamer given my current feelings about being a gamer at the moment. I can’t seem to get excited over any new games coming out as of late for either the new generation systems or the last generation. If anything I find myself eyeballing more and more retro titles for past systems. Not sure if that’s because I’m trying to catch up for lost time or if I don’t find much right now at this time that catches my interest. Or it could be I’m getting use to buying cheap games for $5 or cheapy digital titles for $3.
Reason 8: Wolfenstein: The New Order!
Right now this is the only new game I’m actually excited for. To quote someone “I’m positively throbbing over these guys (the Nazis) returning in a new Wolfenstein game. So far it hasn’t disappointed.
I’ll be back soon. Just need to figure out my web browser issue. Till then let’s see what E3 has in store for us.
