Good Morning Pixlbit! As I sit and type my latest blog I am currently listening to the Beach Boys album I picked up last week on clearance, and well I’m starting to think I might have overpaid. A little harsh but it happens. Anyways since I am currently listening to some music, waiting for the World Wide Developer’s Conference to start (the only time I use Safari), and waiting for them to finally announce the iPod Pequeno (one of my favorite SNL skits), I thought I’d update you good people on what I have been playing, but first something interesting I saw on my Twitter feed
Mortal Kombat X
Oh there’s another MK game. I hope its good, but we shall see. If you want to read about it, click HERE
Ok now its time for Games Chris is Playing
NCAA Football 14 – PS3
I started I think Season #12 in my Dynasty, and my first game of the season, the Oregon Ducks played Colorado State. When I went with an empty backfield formation I saw something odd
Apparently I redshirted too many WR’s because I had an Offensive Lineman lined up in the slot
I don’t know why but the focus was acting up on the replay. I must have pressed something funky
Anyways after the play was snapped, this receiver usually attacks the middle of the field because the defense is occupied with the streaking wideouts going deep.
He got behind the linebacker and scored. Apparently I either need to recruit more WR’s or my lineman recruits are super fast.
Sticking with the football theme…
Madden Football – 3DS
Let’s be honest, I don’t have much faith in sports games made for the 3DS, heck any game on the Nintendo platform that doesn’t involve Mario. I tried out my new purchase to see if it is more for the collection, or will I actually play it. I decided to go with the Season Mode and I was introduced to this lovely screen
I have a choice between conventional 11 on 11 football or 5 on 5. Hello NFL Blitz! I went with the 5 on 5 because it’s different from the normal Madden games and the settings made this even better
There’s a Mississippi Count! Hell. Freaking. Yeah.
As for the game itself the intro is okay, there isn’t any play by play so you get an illustrated version of the exterior of the stadiums
And the playbook is as simple as the ones found on Tecmo Super Bowl. There is a Mississippi count on the screen and the players run set plays based on which option you picked. Since there is no play by play there is actual licensed music playing. I listened to first two minutes of Welcome To The Jungle by Guns N Roses, before sliding the volume all the way down. This morning while taking a picture of gameplay screen, the song was Rock N Roll All Night, by KISS. I’m going to try and complete the season for this game, especially since the I have the game at first team to score 5 TDs wins. Games so far take about 10-15 minutes, which isn’t that, bad, and it’s a lot of fun.
Random Mii’s Showing Appearing On My 3DS XL
When I was charging my 3DS XL I spotted a couple of figures that showed up in my Mii Plaza
This guy
And this gal.
I forgot to take a picture but I found the 8-Bit Mario head piece for my Mii.
Borderlands 2 – Vita
I’m still playing this game, and I decided to do play some of the DLC so I can level up my character. I played through the Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty storyline which was fun, a little crazy in the end, but I think I got a pretty good reward. I still need to do some side missions because the enemies in Opportunity are still stronger than me and it takes a bit of shooting to take them down. I think I can hit Level 25 by the end of the week.
Batman & The Flash Hero Run – Android
It combines Batman and Running Games, what more could Chris love? This is a free game but just like practically every free to play game on a tablet there are the in app purchases, to speed things up.
In this game you have a choice between different versions of Batman, The Flash, A Gorilla, Catwoman, and the Joker. The basic versions of Batman and The Flash are automatically available. The rest are unlocked through purchasing with in game gems. These are the things you can pay real money for, or you can earn a couple each time you take down the boss at the end of a run.
As for your character you earn XP, and collect coins. The coins are the usual currency to purchase temporary upgrades likes better coin payouts, longer lasting boosts, etc. A new aspect in this game is some card integration where you can add card boosts in your gadget belt.
There are different gadgets that can help you during gameplay that are different from the boosts. I haven’t used any of these because I really don’t see the need for them, but they are a nice option to have.
The card aspect also goes into upgrading characters if you have multiples of the same card.
This raises the Max XP Level, and I think you can find these if you purchase a treasure chest.
There are also weekly challenges where you can win cards, coins, and what not for completing tasks during the game. I believe last week was earn 5,000 coins which can be done with around 10 playthroughs.
The graphics are ok, nothing too fancy, and I do wish there was tilt controls like those found on Temple Run. The big drawback right now is that there are only two Worlds to choose from: Gotham, and Gorilla World. There is a “Coming Soon” Placeholder, but I’m not getting my hopes up.
For a free running game, you can’t complain. It has characters we all know, gameplay that is easy to pick up and play, and has customizable features. What more can you ask from a game that’s free and perfect for tablets?
Well that’s what I have been playing other than the usual lineup of The Show, Family Guy Quest For Stuff, and Simpsons Tapped Out. Are you playing anything good? I have to end this latest installment here because there are a ton of blogs I haven’t read here from you good people, so I’m going to chip away at that while the conference is playing.
That’s all for now, more later!
-Chris
