I can only hope to have a camp like that soon.
Because I've been having a recent urge for Survival games that also allow for crafting, I decided to start Don't Starve.
I played a bit of both Minecraft and Terraria and I found both of those game enjoyable and engaging and I was also interested in Don't Starve once I heard about it, with its Burton-esque art style only atracting me more. It's a though game, but i'm getting the hang of it. I'm on my fourth play and i'm going safe by making the days longer as I was killed in my first playthrough because of the darkness, in my second I was maulled by buffalos and the third I erased it because I was getting insane quickly and didn't know what to do.
Like the title of the blog says, I just finished Dear Esther (it only took two hours to complete). As for my thoughts, I think the small review I did on Steam summed up my experience:
"Beautiful would be how I describe my experience with Dear Esther. Though i'm not sure if it would enter into my favorite games, I found it to be worth playing with interesting narrative, great music and incredible scenery even with the slow movement. I'd recommend Dear Esther, though the narrative, the fact that there's only walking and slow movement don't suit some people and in the end the game will raise more questions than answers. That, and the game is only 2 hours long.
Still, if you like more narrative than gameplay and art in your games, you can't go wrong with Dear Esther. If you're still unsure and you're afraid of the short lenght, you can get it on sale".
To add something about the movement, even if it suits the narrative and pace, I think doesn't help when there's wide territories and big zones that you want to explore, so I think if not run, atleast there should had been an option to trot a bit.
MORTAL KOMBAAAAAT!!!! ("insert dance music here").
I couldn't resit the sale and decided to get the newest Mortal Kombat. I haven't installed it because I want to get a 360 pad for playing the game (even if TotalBiscuits said it was fine with the keyboard). I'm sure I will enjoy the game because I played it a bit on the PS3 of a store and had a good time with it (and even done a Fatality).
Fun fact: because of being in Europe where they use the Pegi rating instead of the ESRB, I had to lie on the age verification to buy Mortal Kombat (in Pegi it's 18 above, but in ESRB it's 17 above).
On another unrelated note, I got Final Fantasy II for the PSP in a flea market, though I'm not sure if it's the original Japanese II or IV which was marketed like that in Europe and the US in the 90s.
That's all for today.
