E3 Impressions

There is so much to say about E3. First I caught the Sony Conference at the movie theaters. That was pretty cool and jammed packed with a much older crowd that I expected. I didn't get to see Microsoft's full conference since I was at work but I say that I am excited to know more about and play Scalebound, Inside, and Sunset Overdrive. The Halo Master Chief Collection was great but not something I am too excited about. Playing all the maps in the series though is incredible. I think Microsoft had some great things but I wasn't impressed. Scalebound peaked my interest though most but we didn't see any gameplay. Sunset Overdrive is likely going to be crazy fun.
Now as for Sony's Conference, the start of Destiny is nice but frankly my excitement for it has dwindled a lot. There is so much more that I am excited about and the lack of seeing any compelling story narrating as you progress makes me feel like I will end up getting tired of it. With that said, my pre-order still stands and will get it but feel a bit lukewarm with the title now and that is really no thanks to games like Far Cry 4, Batman Arkham Knight, and Assassin's Creed: Unity. They all look ridiculously good in the size and detail. The altitude in Batman Arkham Knight and Far Cry 4 are incredible. Assassin's Creed just won't let me go. Unity is jaw dropping gorgeous.

Now all 3 were great games showcased at Sony's Conference but before it happened it started with (as you might know) Order 1886. I was really starting think this game might be good but not great but that demo was incredible. I love the use of the camera and it was jaw dropping eye candy as well. My excitement for it is through the roof now. The wait looks like its going to worth it. The two biggest announcements was confirmation of Demon's Souls spirtual successor Blood Borne. That is the game that is on my most wanted list now. That made E3 alone for me. I clapped right when I saw Hidetaka Miyazaki show up on the screen. Nobody else clapped until they saw From Software's logo on screen. There was a lot of clapping but I didn't feel like I would be the odd one to do so but whatever. I was stoked and happy. The second is No Man's Sky which I really thought Microsoft was going to grab but this streak just continues with Sony's commitment to grabbing up awesome indie titles. While it will likely be on the XB1, it is a big win for Sony to get it first.

We al knew that Uncharted 4 was going to role out at some point. I was disappointed we barely saw anything of it. I can't wait to see footage but what I didn't think anyone expected was LittleBigPlanet 3 and it make sense considering they had no announced games for this holiday season. It really is a nice surprise, especially knowing there isn't a ridiculous wait for it. I loved the presentation of the game. Now as for negatives, I wished for more details on Project Morpheous and wish we got to see what Guerilla Games is working on. I also want to know what Naughty Dog's second project is. I hope its a brand new IP. I want The Last of Us 2 but I dont' want them to lose their edge in making new IPs for every new console.

As for Nintendo, better than I expected. Zelda Wii U is easily one of my most anticipated titles. It looks gorgeous and stoked to go exploring with it. I wish they shed more on it. I am also excited for their tease of Star Fox at the end. That was great. The ended with it looking like just a character announcement for Smash Bros which really upset me but seeing Star Fox is great. It is one franchise I wanted badly to return. I also love the idea of Mario Maker. That is an awesome idea. I wasn't impressed with Hyrule Warriors and actually disappointed with what I saw of Xenoblade Chronicles. I want to see gameplay. The cinematics were not impressive. It is great that they didn't showcase Mario like always but we are getting Captain Toad looks awesome and a great way to mix up the Mario formula.

I will give my further details later. There is so much more I can comment on but I am pretty busy and still trying to catch up on everything since I am now working. This has been a great E3 so far but I feel Gamecom is going to be really huge considering that is where we will see actual gameplay footage of many games we haven't seen at E3 will likely get see Quantum Dreams, Sony Santa Monica, and Guerilla Games next title as well a more understanding of Quantum Break.

the Xenoblade thing was disappointing.  That and Bayonetta didn't look as nice as the 1st party games.  I'm sure they're good though, just didn't quite fit.

I'm just glad you mentioned Captain Toad.

Nintendo had a lot of great stuff that suits my tastes.  I may sound strange in saying this, but I'm most excited for Captain Toad: Treasure Trackers.

Yeah, Zelda Wii U's landscape made me feel how people say they felt about Ocarina of Time's vastness when it first released.

How did people get to see the conferences in the theaters? I would've loved to do that. I don't see anything listed in my area of the east coast.

Master Chief Collection is the only thing I want for XB1 right now. The chance to play Halo 1 & 2 online is pretty enticing to me. I feel like 343 kind of botched it on Halo 4, so I have no interest in any sequels they do right now.

No Man's Sky also looks really interesting to me. It's insane that that's an "indie" game!
