You know about Friday the 13th right? Well I bet none of you know that much about Thursday the 12th. What is it/ Well it's actually a level from Gex 2: Enter the Gecko on the Playstation. I got it for 99 cents the time PSN was having a sale on games for 99 cents each.

Gex 2

                                                                    Jason can suck it

I'm a fan of Gex, he's a pretty cool character but Gex 2's controls feel very dated but it's because you play them with the Playstations d-pad, or the PS3 one. I think you can use the analog but I can't get it to work. My favorite is Gex 3 but mostly because that's the one I played first.

If you've never tried the games, check them out  if you can get past the controls and bad camera angles. I'd love to see a new Gex game with modern pop-culture references. So happy Thursday the 12th everyone!

I remember playing a Gex game on N64 where you jumped into different TVs, which were the gateways to levels, kind of like the paintings in Super Mario 64.

Yeah that was Gex 3 and it's the only one on the N64. I loved it, not sure how well it holds up now though.

I was just thinking today, if I buy a classic PSone game on PS3, can I then download and play it on PS4?

I don't have a PS4, so I can't say for sure, but I read recently that the PS4 does not yet play PS1 and PS2 classics.  Sony has said they are working on it though.

Oh yea, I heard that with the coming of the Next streaming service they will allow PS and PS2 backwards compatibility. Not sure how that works, but it might be cool.

I reviewed the third Gex game on PSOne back in the newspaper days.  Platforming was basic and sometimes fun, but the constant talking got annoying.  I don't think we'll see another Gex game, especially considering there's another Gecko on TV right now that has a bit more presence.

I'm amazed they haven't licensed that gecko for some lame game.

I loved Enter the Gecko. the levels, the one liners from various movies etc, it was just a great time. I bought it for .99 too but I still have the original game plus the first game and Deep Cover Gecko for PS1
