Dang dude, sorry about your laptop. Could you possibly buy a HDD duplictor and copy the files to your PC or another laptop?

In today's blog, The Original Ser grinds his teeth to nothing as he deals with the loss of a laptop.

You know that feeling when you're all like, "OK, this is good. I'm on top of stuff and I can proceed comfortably" and all of a sudden stuff hits the fan and everything goes horribly awry? Yup, that's today.
The laptop I was hoping I'd use in Boston to process video is officially finished. In a desperate attempt to keep the files on the hard drive, which, incidentally, is the entire problem, I'm keeping it for after PAX when I can try to get the data retreived (since trying to get them via Linux failed miserably.) But it's not looking good. Worse still, all of the original files for Bullet Heaven are on there. Not the elements, mind you (and thank Scott for that,) just the finished episodes that I've been putting off transferring to my newer desktop. And of course, new Bullet Heaven episodes are still forthcoming, thanks to my lucky, spur-of-the-moment computer purchase earlier this year. A purchase that was not only completely out of character for me but also initially regretful.
But now the question arises: Do I buy another laptop, or go with a smaller tablet option? As it is, I can get away with recording on my netbook if I have to, but video-wise I'm dead in the water anyway until I return to my desktop. It occurs to me though, that HD games are going to be really hard to capture without hauling my desktop out to the living room. Crap. I suppose I might as well got another, but eff me sideways! I just don't have the cash for that! Dammit! I need to find a cheap, workable solution and fast.
I guess the good news is, my Bullet Heaven episodes are downloadable from YouTube, though at a serious crawl, thanks to the two-download-per-hour cap. Which chews some major colon. But I need to properly archive them as soon as I can.
And it sucks too, thanks to having to go to work tonight, I can't do some interim shopping. Bleaagh, my life! But oh well, just another issue to work through. I'll survive, For now.
No pictures today, so here is the Taco Boat. Yum-yum, all aboard to set sail for delicious!
And hey, if y'all wanna help a literally-starving-poor media scrub out, buying any music here (including the same tune the Taco Boat rocks to) has gone, goes and always will go right back into production, with situations like this specifically in mind...
Heck, if anyone wants to donate a working laptop they have no use for anymore (no more than 3 years old, must have an optical drive and some kind of GPU) I'll pay the postage. Let me know on the twitters or the facebooks (links below!)
