Dragon Age 2: PS3 vs. Xbox 360

Well, this is my second post today Pixlbit. I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I've been wanting to get Dragon Age 2 because I started to get into Dragon Age since they announced the third installment of the Dragon Age saga. I bought the 360 version of Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition. Even though I'm still working through that game, I've been wanting to get the second game in the series. I tried out the demo on the 360 and I enjoyed it so far. The gameplay is fun and the story seems interesting. The only drawback is the gameplay tends to lag a bit. I'm not sure if its due to the fact that its the demo or if the 360 version of the game is like that.

When I finished the 360 demo, I switched over to the PS3 demo and the textures of the gameplay seemed smoother. The way you traverse through the area looked as though there was no flaw. The cutscenes however were a bit choppy. The shades of the color were a bit blurry, but I did have the brightness all the way. The characters looked fine when they were speaking, but the background color didn't fully blend. I'm saying this when there's a point where two characters would talk to each other with a black background. No structures, cities, views or anything. Just a black screen.

I wanted to get DA2 for the 360 since I already have the first one for it, but I'm leaning more towards the PS3. I know some people say they get exclusives for PS3 and cross platform games on the 360. Some just prefer PS3 overall. Personally, I have the same mentallity. When it comes to Mass Effect, GTA, and others, I go towards the 360. That's another thing. I bought all the Mass Effect games on 360 and I know BioWare is the same company who makes Dragon Age. So I figured I would get the series on 360 as well. But one thing set me off into thinking about getting it for the PS3. I know it sounds dumb, but it was the Signature Edition of the game. I managed to find a pre owned copy at my local GameStop. I saw the case for it and saw it came with extra DLC. It probably was a download code only so possibly the code was already used, but I'm weird when it comes to game cases. If its a crazy uber edition, I have to get it. The only thing I wonder is if the store would have the Signature Edition copy of the game or just the regular. If I were to get it, that would mean I have to get the Ultimate Edition of Dragon Age Origins. On an added note, I realized I downloaded one or two DLCs on the 360. Not sure which ones though.

So what do you all think would be the best choice? Get it for the 360 with just the normal case and have both Origins and 2 for that console, or get the Signature Edition on the PS3 while taking a chance that maybe the store will or won't have the SE copy of the game and also buying the Ultimate Edition on PS3 down the road?

I'd appreciate your thoughts and opinions!

BEYOND!

hmmm, I don't know which one is better.  DA2 isn't as good as the first one, IMO, but it's still chill. I complain about it a lot, but it's not too bad.  DAO though is one of my favorites games though, I love it.

A lot of people didn't enjoy DA2, but from the demo I think I'll be part of the few who enjoyed the game. I can see how DAO is one of your favorite games. I'm still enjoying it. It just took me a while to decide what class to pick. I wanted to be each one of them. They should make some sort of hybrid class in Inquisition. But I can see how that would upset some people.

Since you have Origins on 360 I'd get DA 2 on there as well so you can import your world. I played both games on 360 and didn't have any problems. They both suffered from some slowdown, but  I would expect the PS3 to perform about that same.

I didn't know that. What are the benefits for importing from DAO? I've only put in about 7 hours into the game so I don't think that would benefit me that much. Unless I get some type of powerful weapon or armor that would last me for a while. When I played the demo, I saw the textures in the cinematic parts ran smoother on 360 but choppy on PS3. Gameplay on the other hand ran a lot smoother for PS3 than 360. This could be different with the actual retail copy so I guess my best bet is to buy it for both consoles and compare it that way. Sounds dumb, I know, but at least if I buy a pre owned copy I can always return it.

It's more of a Mass Effect thing, but not on the same level. You do get a bunch of cool gear for having and Origins save (ditto for Dead Space 2), but the big thing is seeing your decisions affect the world. But I'm pretty sure you need a cleared save of Origins for that, so if you're not planning on finishing it you could go with either version.

Ooo, that's cool to know.

I have not played DA2 but I have Origins for PS3 and Origins Ultimate for 360.
