I love Mass Effect. I didn't at first. But it really grew on me. For me, ME3 is the game of the generation, despite its flaws.
You never know what gems you might find.

What's going on Pixlbit? It's a new week which means new pickups. Not that much this week. Just a few games. First one is Dead or Alive Xtreme 2. I remember the days when my cousins and I played the first one on the original Xbox. I thought it was funny that a fighting game series had a vollyball/beach activities game. It was pretty cool to have the girl characters from the series all in one game. I didn't know they made a second entry into the series.
I thought of getting it so what I usually do when I'm shopping at GameStop is check out the game I'm thinking of purchasing on the app. If I see more than 2 stores have the game, I step back and wait a bit to check out videos, reviews and forums about the game if it's worth picking up. If it's a game that isn't sold anywhere near where I am, I choose to pick it up. In this case, this game wasn't sold anywhere near my area. The next copy that did have one was about 30 miles away.
Luckily I found a case that had the box art, manual book, even the card you can send in the mail to receive newsletters from the company or game. I remember getting those with my PS2 games. Ah, the joys of gaming back in the day.
My second and third purchase is Mass Effect 2 and 3. Some of you are probably thinking "You're barely getting into those games?!" but hear me out. I called my local GameStop and asked my friend if he had a pre owned copy of Modern Warfare 2 for PS3. I saw that it price dropped and I wanted a shooter on the PS3. The only one I have is Killzone 2. Anyways, I asked him if he happened to have a collector's edition steel case of the game. I know how there are rare times someone would trade in a collector's edition of anything to GameStop and sometimes I'm lucky. In this case I'm not. So my friend told me he looked through the drawers and even the back and didn't see any. I wasn't bummed about it and just said oh well.
I was thinking of the next game I wanted to ask him for, but he told me that someone came in and traded in a whole box of games and a couple of those were the Collector's Edtions for Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3. Of course that got my attention because I missed out on the ME2 collector's edition. I got the collector's for ME3, but for the PS3. I was bummed to not find the collector's for ME2 because that was my start into the series. I never played ME1 and I'm still playing through that.
So I headed down to the local store and picked them up. I was surprised to see that it was they were complete. I thought it was just the steel book cases but they had the slip cover, art book, comics and steel book included. I thought to myself "why would someone trade in everything with the collector's edition?!" Oh well. I was just lucky enough to get it. The employee who rung me up even wanted those editions too. She said she was going to buy them if no one were to pick it up by the end of the day and buy the first ME game as well. I also asked if they had the collector's for Mass Effect but they didn't. It was worth a shot to ask since they had the second and third one.
So with finding a clean and complete copy of Dead or Alive Xtreme 2, complete Collector's Editions for both Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3, you might never know what you might find in your GameStop stores.
Have a great week everyone!
