Steam Summer Sales Picks, More World Cup and Metal

I kinda got a bit carried away on the Steam sales. Not much to get up to 100, but enough to decide not to expend too much on July. Either way, the games I got on the sale:

  • - A.R.E.S: Extinction Agenda.
  • - BIT.TRIP Beat.
  • - Deus Ex: GOTY Edition.
  • - Fallout 3: GOTY.
  • - FarCry 3.
  • - The GTA saga.
  • - The King of Fighters XIII.
  • - La-Mulana.
  • - Metro 2033.
  • - Organ Trail.
  • - Risk of Rain.
  • - Terraria.

- Valdis Story: Abyssal City.

I was hoping to get the Summer Adventure badge, but the trip to Prague and another trip to the Belgian coast stoped my hopes. Atleast I got the badge of the team I was in and received a lot of points.

So far, Risk of Rain is addicting, I had problems installing Fallout 3 (see the rant I posted on the dash), Deus Ex seems interesting but decided to uninstal it because I wasn't ready for the game and just started BIT.TRIP.

Hopefully Julian won't mind if I post about the World Cup here.

What a time to be a Colombian!

Not only my team just beat Uruguay, but also passed for the first time to the quarter finals!

Just for an historical context, the closest Colombia went far in a World Cup was in 1990 in the round of 16 and that was their only good performance until now. Tomorrow we play against host Brazil and i'm as excited as equally terrified. In one hand, it's Brazil, but on the other, they aren't in very good state and even Chile was close to beat them if it wasn't for the penalties. I can only hope for a victory, but let's see what destiny decides tomorrow.

Belgium (where i'm currently living) also improved very well in their match against USA. After the not so impresive performance on the group stage, they decided to go instantly for the attack and it really worked for them. That said, USA was also excellent and Tim Howard decerved the Man of the Match award for managing to stop many of the Belgian shots.

If Belgium plays like that against Argentina, I can see them going to the Semifinals.

To finish the blog, I went last Sunday to my first Metal festival, Graspop 2014.

What can I say, it was fucking awesome. I had the chance to see Alice in Chains, Soundgarden (two of my favorite Grunge bands), Rob Zombie and the granpa of Metal, Black Sabbath. The last one is just so special by the fact I saw them before age too them over and I could see that the whole festival was gathered from miles and miles. At the end there was also a mega mix of Metal songs, but had to leave before it could end.

I may post all the photos I took and also the loot I bought, but that has to wait for a while.

That's all for now.

Terraria is so good! Addictive to the point of being dangerous. lol. My friend Alex and I farmed the hell out of our world and had ridiculously epic gear. We also built a huge city to rival Olympus of the gods! Tongue Out

That's one of the things it excites me about Terraria (and also Minecraft), the creation of awesome things.

That's awesome about the metal and Colombia advancing!

I'm also proud of Clint Dempsey and Tim Howard and the rest of the U.S.A. team doing us proud by doing way better than the German coach of ours ever thought we could. That bastard is lucky he helped us win.

I'm digging these "things Tim Howard could save" memes.

I wouldn't have been bothered to see USA pass. You all did great defense and when you did your first goal there was a legit chance that you could equalize and maybe go to penalties. Either way, looking forward for 2018 for the USA team.

Yeah, but we played poorly offensively most of the time, which is WHY our goalie had to do all that work, but oh well. Rooting for Colombia today!

I can see Colombia beating Brazil. It's a shame that Falcao got injured otherwise he would be there terrorizing the opposing defenders/goalkeeper.

Shame about Falcao, but if anything it shows the team is also great without him (not to discredit him of course). Really want to see Colombia beating Brazil today.

hey nice haul there, Alex! I bought a bunch of crap too, but also held off on some things I wish now I had bought like Fall of Cybertron, and Wasteland 2 when it was on sale. I just didn't want to spend that money but I would have saved a lot if I had, because I really want those games. Glad you enjoyed the metal festival. Sounds like a lot of fun.

It's easy to get carried away on the sales. I had to held off Skyrim and God Save the Queen because of expending a lot on the trip to Czech Republic.

Graspop looked like a blast. I watched that highlights video on their web site. Lot's of great bands there. Behemoth would've been cool to see, just to name one.

If money and traveling expences allow it, I would like to repeat Graspop for 2015.

You should be proud of Columbia. I'm rooting for them too.

England (the land of my birth) got kicked out early which didn't really surprise me. US is out (was hoping they'd go further) and Canada (my adopted home) couldn't even field a team which is pathetic.

Some definite upsets this time.

Most of my country is excited for the following match. I really hope they can pull off the victory.

Shame about England. There's always the chance to improve for Euro 2016. I hope to see USA do great again in 2018 and as for Canada.... I don't bloody know :P

fun load you got out of that steam sale. Never sure how your able to handle uninstalling/reinstalling al you own on Steam. Can't wrap my head around it, that must frag up your hard drive big time.

At least your not from Brazil. hard time to be a Brazilian right now...

Unistalling a game isn't that hard and it doesn't ruin the hard drive. Because your purchase gets linked to your account, it only deletes the game files from your computer, but not on Steam, so you can install the game back.

Yeah, I felt pity for the Brazilians, mostly because of the BIG defeat against Germany.
