The idea of video games being hard: What a concept.

The idea of games being hard stems from just that hard games.

Also, it seems to me I suck at a lot of hard games. I have only beaten maybe more than a handful of games.

It all started when I played Battle Toads for the Sega and then later on the NES.

I screamed and threw my Sega controller down in rage. If there were any games like this I would sure find them. Ikaruga is another game I was never able to play let alone beat. Son of a bitch! Games are growing increasingly harder and that's a great thing.

We are finding our roots. Games deserve to make us fail. In an IGN article it stated that games are too easy in this day in age. Not to mention they are fairly short. I am guilty of not even playing through Super Meat Boy because I suck at it. I love the game but suck at it.

Aw yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh! In era of crappy COD's there has to be games that are hard. Some recent or soon to be examples is the new revamped Binding of Issac. I never played the game but hear it is difficult. Dark Souls...dear God. I have died 25 times on one part. The part in question was running through or near this mechanical bull. I ran through it and jumped down a great little starewell only to be cornered by two  knights with big-ass swords. They filleted my ass. What was I to do. I didn't quit and instead beat the Game of the Year the Last of Us.

I understand hard games too well. That's why I haven't beaten many of them. I consider Zombies Ate my Neighbors hard. I also friggin consider any Mario game or Zelda game hard. To date I have only beaten Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, Link's Awakening and I think I got far on the gold cartridge on the NES. I am not sure though.

Cranking up the difficulty weeds out the punk bitches so the real gamer's can game.

Shinobi anyone? Ninja Gaiden.....for a pile of fucks don't get me started on 'yon game.

:(

Either way it is very exciting for developers to cater to the more hardcore gamers.

Good on ya developers.

I like a good challenge in the form of knowing what to do and it being really hard to execute.

I HATE not knowing where to go.

I LOVE America. Land of HARD WORK and FREEDOM!

Actually, I think games were made more challenging for one, arcades- to keep you feeding machines with quarters/tokens, and two, physical game rentals during the Blockbuster video era to keep you renting those games forever.

Anyhow, games like Dark Souls can be made easier with particular builds, and you can overpower your character and cheese many of he bosses. If anything the 'Souls' games teach patience, or impatience depending on the gamer. I was suprised at how far I got in Demon Souls without the help of any guide, since I tend to be a cautious gamer.

Some games I think are hard...
The Secret World-- hard as fuck!
Ninja Gaiden XBox-- hard as fuck!
Devil May Cry 3 - hard as fuck!
Souls games - hard as fuck!
Super Luigi U - hard as fuck!

I agree.  Mario & Zelda games are hard.  So is Shovel Knight.

Usually I don't like hard games.  That's why I like Kirby.  His games are easy enough for anyone to beat, but you can find challenge in locating all the secrets.

Some games are hard, because they are bad. That sucks. But some games are hard because they are really good and ask you to master their techniques. I love those games.

I like the comments. I just think that hard games are a challenge. And that's really a good thing. Not everything can be easy.

XCOM is a game I am having major trouble with.

Castelvania Series are a bunch of hard games. I have beaten one on the GBA and two on the DS.
