Copper and Dragons Dogma

Hello, everyone.

Good evening to all of you.  The employment process continues.   There really are quite a lot of different jobs to be had...ive told my girl that if I cant find machinework id actually be happy cooking.  Not at a fast food restaurant though...I did that in the past, and its hellish.

I havent been playing anything lately though I may pick back up in Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen.  Im conflicted about my feelings toward DD:DA. On one hand im dazzled by the large space and epic beasties of Gransys.  On the other,  im absolutely puzzled as to how such a good game can have such shitty controls.   It doesnt feel tight or responsive to me.  Hacking off a Hydras head shouldn't feel like a game of chance...the toon should respond to the inputs without delay.  Not quite the case here.

I've decided that I'm going to trade my copy of Dark Souls II in while the gettin' is good.  I believe it's a 15 dollar store credit right now...which is more than enough dough to throw on a nice, used copy of Two Worlds II.  I've been checking into that game, and although it didn't recieve the scores of a AAA blockbuster title it looks like its worth some attention.  I think I recall Ben playing through this while 1Up was still in full swing.  I figure that even with the DLC dropping this month, I probably won't play through DS II or DS again....twice for each game is more than enough, especially when there's so much else out there to play.

Ive been watching Copper..its pretty good.  It can be a bit campy at times,  like the episode in which the murder weapon is a poisoned fruitcake (aptly titled Arsenic and Old Cake).  Its got prostitution,  murder and the Civil War...the trifecta, basically.

What have you been playing?

I've also been playing Dragon's Dogma, though I have the same gripes as you. I love climbing on enemies, but combat doesn't feel quite as good as it should. Also, that game NEEDS a dodge button. And a better fast travel system. Other than that it's cool.

Two worlds... if you have problems with the controls of you won't like the controls of that game. I personally couldn't get into it, and I like games like that. Who knows though, you might enjoy it. If you want an awesome game along those lines get Risen. The first one. I don't know what it's like on Xbox, but it's fucking awesome on PC.

Finally, since you're asking what I'm playing: Dead Space 2. And Kingdoms of Amalur. Both excellent games.

Dead Space 2 and Kingdoms are indeed both excellent games.  There's a section toward the end of Dead Space 2 that's going to freak you out a bit....might even make your eyeballs twitch.

Kingdoms.....my only gripe with that game si that I ended up making a run on the main questline and never went back to play sidequests.  This was for 360...being as I have it via Plus now, I may have to go back and replay it in the future and hit the trophies.

I finished Dead Space 2 before, but it was the only one I had finished. So I'm playing through the trilogy.

Kingdoms of Amalur is great - but the DLC is better. Seriously, both packs include huge extra areas that are more open, and the writing and loot is much better.

I'm going to start up another game of Amalur this weekend.  I'll delve into Dead Kel if the ol' lady allows me to use a few bucks on the card!

Fuck fast food in general. I hated working at Boston Market, even though it's gotta be one of the easier places. I actually had fun at Outback Steakhouse on occassion.

Unless I'm buying of course. I'm poor after all. Vicious cycle.

Dragons Dogma was great. I think part of it was going into it with low expectations. I would give it a solid B+. I think a lot of the what I loved of the game was the way it made you fight in the dark. I loved the use of the lamp and darkness more than Dark Souls 2 used its torches. After  playing Dark Souls, it makes combat in other games so unpleasant, but it didn't stop me from playing the game. I played Two World 2 for a bit when it came out, but never finished it. I think it was a bit too generic for me, and I was also playing Witcher 1 at the time which game me more of what I wanted I think.

What I'm playing:
Fallen Earth (MMO) - post apocolyptic/western setting
The Secret World (MMO) - zombies, zombies everywhere!
SWTOR (MMO)
GW2 (MMO)

Divinity Original Sin (PC)
Shover Knight (PC)

Killer 7 (Gamecube)
Xenoblade Chronicles (WiiU)

Comment: I jump back and forth between games. I'm not marathoning these games. Don't judge me! Cool

Xenoblade is a helluva game.  I love the fact that the worlds are the bodies of two titans.

Perhaps I'll lower my expectations a bit so as to enjoy Dogma and Worlds a bit more.

I play Xenoblade on WiiU. It's really good. Did you finish it?

I've seen Dogma compared to God of War in terms of combat, which is how I felt. It is very button mashy. Are you using pawns? You can upgrade/swap them whenever you want. I really liked this party system most of all. Just go search for a cool Mage or Knight or something to help you out. I don't think other games do this? I like Dogma more than most people. I thought it was really great. It's open enough to get lost in, but also linear. The story is not it's strong point. Great game nonetheless.

One day I'll get to DD:DA.  My son played it and loved it.

I'm currently playing Dragon Quest VI (3DS), Dragon Age: Origins (360), Lego Marvel Super Heroes (360), and Saint's Row (360).  I thinking about starting Fallout New Vegas (360) and maybe Persona 3 or 4 on the PS3.

Copper is pretty good.  Though you're right, it can be a little campy.  Also, some of the medicinal/forensic stuff the doctor does is a farfetched.  I mean it's cool, and entertaining, but it just stretches belief that he can do such magic.  I've seen that in other period shows that try to include some sort of old fashioned medical examiner with modern techniques, and it just doesn't work for me.

I've heard many horror stories about working in fast food. As much as I hate working at a grocery store, I would never touch fast food, so I hope you find something better than that.

I don't there's anything I want to play in July so I'll probably work on my Steam Sale and PS3 backlog and long with playing Ultra Street Fighter 4.

Yeah fast food is the rat race for sure.  Thats really only an ultimate,  last-ditch option...I am far too skilled to work in a job like that

Just beware of "The Taint" in Two Worlds II, but maybe that was just in the first game. I remember so much talk about bugs in the first game, but I liked the demo and have the game in my backlog. I've heard a lot of the problems with the first game were fixed in the second one. I'd like to play that one also sometime.

I have Dark Arisen from PSN+ and a new copy of Two Worlds II for 360 that I found for 10 bucks. I haven't played TWII at all and only the first hour of Dark Arisen.

I'm playing Rainbow Moon right now with some Child of Light and Valiant Hearts on the side.

Mostly F2P titles on Xbox 360/PS3. Right now I'm sinking my teeth into Ace Combat Infinity. Right now waiting for the maintenance update to be completed that adds the new dog fighit vs mode.
