Damn. Nice find on that Move. I went to Target this morning and didn't think to check out the clearance stuff.
Quick Hits: Donating Stuff to Goodwill, and CD Saturday

Happy Friday Pixlbit! So how have you good folks been since our last post? I’ve been caught up in something different. I’ve started to get rid of stuff. Yes, while I was sorting and adding the new CDs to the library, I decided it was time to get rid of a bunch of stuff. I got rid of duplicates (around 20, who knew I had that many), weeded out some records that I lost interest in, got rid of a bunch of caps that I no longer wear, a ton of shirts from college dorm stuff, to everyday graphic tees, and I cleaned out the jerseys I don’t wear. Gone are some jerseys I’ve had for years, a couple of Chargers ones I got for cheap, and other random college team jerseys. At some point I will tackle my sports cards collection, and get rid of copies, and finally add the cards I bought from the thrift stores a year ago.
Summer Cleaning also made its way to the tablets. Since the iPad Air doesn’t have much on it, I only removed one game. As for the Nexus 7, I got rid of a bunch of books from the Kindle app (there are still a bunch I need to remove), and uninstalled some games and apps that I no longer use. I actually thought about getting rid of some games, but quickly laughed at that idea. Toys and games are the two collections I will probably not touch.
Three bags worth of clothes that are going to the Goodwill. Hopefully they will go to folks who will get much more use out of them.
Part of this move is just getting rid of clutter, and I’ll probably do more this weekend. It does feel good to get of stuff that is just taking up space.
Yesterday while getting lunch I made a quick pit stop at a thrift store that I haven’t visited in a while, to see if they had anything new. They had a Sega Genesis Model 2 for $20, and after seeing that I was hoping to run into some Genesis games. No dice, but I did see the game basket had some new stuff
The thrift store raised the price from $1.99 to $6.00 for games. SIX DOLLARS. This basket was filled with a bunch of sports titles. I would have bought FIFA 2003 on the original X-Box, but $6.00 was a bit much.
Oh a sealed Tiger Woods on DS? If it was a reasonable price, I would buy it
After saying “You’re f’n (I used the whole word) kidding” I put it down and went to check out the records. I’m going to wait for Half Off Day before picking up FIFA 2003.
So how about that Germany vs. Brazil match? I’m not going to lie, and sorry in advance Brazil fan, but this was freaking hilarious. The crowd shots were golden, Twitter was entertaining, and I like to think my texts were funny.
While purging the closet, I found a jersey I bought in Mexico when I went on a cruise
Apparently I bought a Germany jersey. Oh the quality of these jerseys from Mexico is so bad (this “legit” company had the quality of bad fakes). This is what I wore when I would go swimming, or played basketball in. That jersey hit the donate pile so hopefully someone will give it a good home.
A couple of days ago at one of the local Target’s there is an aisle of Dodgers/Padres stuff (last year there was some Giants gear for the bandwagon fans), and I saw that the Padres stuff was on clearance. I spotted this shirt
And this was on the price tag
Yup somewhere in a Target in Seattle there is someone wondering why the Swinging Padres logo shirt has a Mariners price tag.
This popped up on Reddit
When I worked at Disneyland they had a Cast Member night when the park was open just to the Cast Members. It was a fun time and when the group I was roaming around with went on Space Mountain, our car got stuck on the first hill. The lights went on, and after a push from one of the CM’s working the attraction, we got to experience the ride with the lights on.
Pickups
Games
Ok let’s start out with a game I own on the PS3, but since I got a microphone for the 360 it was time for me to show off my shower rapping skills
Yeah I’m not very good, but I deserve a record contract with my shower rapping.
I lost my favorite 3DS stylus (I refuse to use that stick it came with), so for .75 cents I have a Batman stylus
The Target clearance section got refilled with a bunch of stuff. I found some interesting things (before we get into this part, earlier in the day I went to GameStop to buy Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS and this was the exchange I had with normally a really chill employee)
Me: holding the game case, Hey do you have a sealed version of this game
GS: Let me check...checks, sorry man that's the last copy.
Me: Ok, I'm not going to get it because the Club Nintendo points were left on the display case. thanks. Starts to walk away
GS: That code doesn't mean anything. The game is fine
Me: If I'm buying a new game I expect to have all the contents of a new game (this only makes sense right?).
GS: If the code does't work, just return the game
Me: I'm good.
Ok I purposely go out of my way to this store because they've always been good to me, but telling a customer the Club Nintendo points are meaningless, and then wanting me to return the game if they don't work is completely nuts.
I can tell you exactly what's going to happen if I went through and bought this game. The code will not work because you know someone browsing the store already used it. I go return the game explaining that the code doesn't work, and they can only offer me an exchange. Sorry GameStop not falling for it. Also what sucks even more is a casual shopper or a parent who has no idea about this is getting screwed.
Ok back to my trip to Target
I found the move controller and navigation controller’s for
Not bad for $14.
I also picked up a couple of games
I don’t think I have this Resident Evil game, and I found a Move game at Toys R Us.
I also found a $3 Move Charger from Toys R Us
So for under $20 I now have a Move set. I guess it’s time to connect my PS3 camera.
Movies
Nothing big just a $3 clearance flick
How do you say no to a Bond flick?
Music
So last Saturday was the return of CD Saturday where I either go to the mall to the mom & pop, or roam around a handful of thrifts. I decided on the mall because I haven’t been there in a while. I spent a good hour just looking through the CDs and found
Nothing too crazy, stuff like Spice Girls, No Doubt, and Warrant were to fill some holes in the library. I didn’t check my list to realize that I already owned Siouxsie and the Banshees and Salt N Peppa, so those made the donate/sell pile.
The mom & pop also expanded their vinyl selection and added a bunch of new stuff. It was me and a soccer mom looking through this section while a bunch of teens where behind me digging through the used section. I found a vinyl copy I already have CD
This is one of my favorite albums of 2014, and it came with a digital download card. I guess I should have bought the Vinyl first instead of the CD. No big deal.
A couple of days ago when I took those pics of the Tiger Woods game, the thrift store had a bunch of new albums that were $1 instead of their usual “Let’s increase the price to 5-10 dollars if we know who they are” pricing. I left a bunch of Journey albums, because I’m not really a big fan of theirs.
Yeah Top Gun is going to be framed, but I’ll give Danger Zone a play…and maybe play some volleyball in jeans while listening to Kenny Loggins. Added Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, and Beach Boys because I wanted to complete their discographies. Klymaxx’s Meeting in the Ladies Room is pure 80s R&B goodness, and The Outfield because of this song in Grand Theft Auto Vice City
I did nothing but cruise around when this song came on.
I also added some new CD storage books so I could not only fit in the 200 or so new CDs to the library, but I also consolidated some of the genres because they were spread out to books that open spaces. After a couple of days of sorting, pulling out duplicates, updating my CD list this is the result
21 CD books, with only one duplicate album (the Jay Z/Linkin Park Collision Course album. I have the Explicit and Edited versions).
Before we end this edition of Quick Hits, congrats Cleveland, you went from burning jerseys to loving him again
Ok good people, I am off to start my weekend. Have a good weekend, congrats you Cavs fans out there, and for the love of the NBA, PLEASE Chicago, make the Melo deal happen. I will forget you drafting two players from rival Mountain West schools, and bringing in Jimmer if you can get Melo a member of the Bulls.
That’s all for now, more later
-Chris
