But these Metroids ain't going to Valhalla.

Yellow Valkyrie

From: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Remixed by: DarkeSword

As a counterpoint to last week's chill solo piano piece, this remix from Metroid Prime 3 is more upbeat, though I think its sound still manages to be somewhat mellow. Starting all dark and mysterious, it jumps into something of a dance groove but doesn't stay there, flirting instead with orchestral and electronic sensibilities. You wouldn't hear a song like this in a Metroid game but it still seems...Metroidy. I love the little piano callback to Phendrana Drifts. It's a great piece, so give it a listen!

I saw a guy wearing an OCR Remix shirt at SGC last weekend. Made me think of you in a dirty way.

I was going to say that that was cool but by the end of your comment I just felt really awkward, so...

Metroid is almost its own genre of music.  I love those soundtracks.

i know, I know, my roommate used to play it when I lived in NYC.  I just kind of missed out on it.  I would like to play it though.

It's my all-time favorite game, so I'm a little biased, but yes, you NEED to play it.

I liked it when it started out soft. it started to fall apart for me when it became a bit more complex at the begniing but it eventually leveld out and followed a progressive tune thru the middle half. You are right, we wouldn't hear this in a metroid game but it has just enough to make it "metroidy". Not but much, infact it almost loses it but it's able to hold on just by a hair to make it so. Not sure if the composer meant to do that or if he was trying to reign it in the tune before it got away from him.

I don't know the composer's intent but I do think it falls on the "Metroid" side of the line...overall.

Loved it. The combination of string pieces and electronic noices were very nice.
