Uh, Hi Again. This Is Awkward.

Heya. This is Ser. You may remember me from such blog posts as Ser's Daily Bit and Ser's ^Kinda Daily Bit and Ser's Weekly Bit, then, Ser's non-existent Bit.

I always hate forgetting about blogging, because it's something that, ultimately, I enjoy doing, and something that I wish I could stick to, garbage memory be damned. That's why I'm coming back, but I want to do something unique. Not just a, "Hey, It's Ser! Look at my stuff! Listen to my rants! HEYAHEYAHEYA!" kinda thing.

You should all know by now that I'm into the shmups in very unhealthy ways. Well, OK, maybe not unhealthy but definitey more than the average Ser.

Fairly Unhealthy
Pretty unhealthy though....

Anyway, I figure since the Shmups.com forum is WAY too toxic for me, much less a newbie like many of you out there, this might be a good place for fresh blood to check out the last frontier of pure, honest-to-goodness retro (and still legitimately great with no filler) and even neo-retro genre in the whole videogame spectrum. Shmups are back in a really big way, and new titles are coming out all the time if you know where to look. You know, new Xbox360 / PS3 / PC / Dreamcast(?!) / Genesis(?!?!?!?!?!) shooties and such. This totally reminds me that I need to preorder a copy of Magic Girl on Genesis ASAP. Fifty bucks, and I needs that junk. But only after I gets to PAX and back (yes, that's still a thing.)

What was I on about again? Oh, right, unique Pixlbit content. Yeah, I'm about the shooties like no one else, really. If I had a supergun or an Egret III, I'd be into the whole efing arcade scene too, but alas, not right now. Soon though. Soon. But seriously (and this is this big-ass beer's fault, really, damned concentration...) I'd love to do a Bit (ha) all abouit Shmups. News, games, Bullet Heaven exposure and more. All shooters, all the time. Mostly.

But what has happened in the last 14 months? It has certainly been a while. Well, in the year and a Bit (LOOL, OK, I'll stop that) I've been gone, a few major milestones have happened. First off, Bullet Heaven HD has surpassed 100 episodes! It's true! We're currently getting ready for a pretty epic Dreamcast Block thanks to the fine folks at NG:Dev.Team and HuCast Games to round off and finish the FiVth Season, likely at episode 111! We also just crossed the1800 subscriber mark on YouTube, Not too shabby for  such a tiny niche interest!

We have also been hard at work on other things too, like the Pokemon Orphanage and our first live event on February 16th, 2014 called Halifax Scramble, with full sponsorship from the ever-awesome Rockin' Android!

I also had two music albums drop; the 2014 project, "Meteoric" and the OST for a Match-2 puzzle game developed in Ukraine called "Squards". Oh, did I mention? I did an OST and SFX for a video game! It's true! I also had my previous album, Project 2012 featured in the Indie Royale Starry Nights Bundle last August. I'm getting around, it seems!

Aside from that, well... that's It I think. So yeah, I'm still alive and stuff and I hope to get the ball rolling on more written stuff. What will it all be called? What will be covered? How will you see it? Wil there be cake? All answered in due time. Oh, and don't expect cake.

Actually, the whole reason for my sudden disappearance was a near-burnout situation. I just couldn't get going, and work was getting me down. I haven't been doing too much better lately though, so hopefully I can get this year done, take a break and come back swinging.

Glad you're back! I was just thinking about you with the Player One Podcast trying to change their theme song lately... seems like they had some trouble changing from yours (which is awesome).

I also like shooters, and don't go to shmups.com because I don't feel worthy. Not that anyone was rude to me (I probably just lurked), but it makes me realize I'm nowhere near as serious about those as some people. I still love 'em, so I'm happy to read/watch about them in your stuff.

Again, we're happy you've returned!

They never used mine. Mine was a very narrow loss by four votes.

As for Shmups.com... yeah, it's pretty easy to feel unworthy thanks to the massive pricks that reside there. They want to propegate their favorite genre, but push the new blood out. Kind of a oxymoronic, double-edged, catch 22.

Ugh, that's unbearable.... No, it wasn't mine. It was done by some guy that posted once and only once on the forums. Username was Strugglepoo (that stung) and he used a soundfont rather than custom soundtables (double KO). I lost to him by something like 4 votes (Triple KO). I try to use much more finesse in my music, and my entry was no exception. I even used a DSi and a Game Boy Color in mine. Believe me when I say, I've been bitter about that for years. I almost got over it too, now I have to think about this. Player One fails so hard...

BTW, here's what my entry was;

Whoa, sorry for pouring a gallon of salt into your wounds! I was just going by what was in that post on their blog. I had no idea there was a mix-up! I really liked your theme song. Maybe they should have used it this time since the first one they picked was just a snippet from a Crystal Castles song.

Not your fault, it's thiers. I mean, how could you possibly forget who the winner of a contest was...? I know I've never forgotten the guys alias, nor will I. At the very least, his stuff is gone now and I can move on... unless they do something more to set me off.

Shmups are cool. I am way into Xevious, Flying Shark and the TwinBee games. I learned about a few more from the Taito collections I playe recently like the Darius series. In the video you posted there's some really cool new ones for phones and tablets. I've got to get something to play those on sometime.

Ha, I was just reading a couple of blogs about 1Up, and I wondered what happened to some of the folks I used to follow and your blog appeared. Good to see you around, and props for getting your music out there. Are you going to bring your YouTube vids here too? Just in case I'm going to subscribe on YouTube.

Probably just links, unless it's stuff like my old music from ages ago or even new tunes. Gotta keep my view count up!
