Back in February (Valentine's Day, to be precise) my wife got me Silent Hill: Book of Memories for the Vita. It was my first (and still only) physical Vita game. I'd been thinking about getting it but hadn't decided yet, so she saved me from having to actually make the decision. It was very sweet of her but I still haven't played it. The main reason is that Book of Memories is not a traditional Silent Hill game. It's a dungeon crawler.
If that seems like an odd choice for SH, well, you're right. But it is what it is, and apparently it's a pretty decent one. You create a character and gain levels and equip weapons and manage inventory and solve light environmental puzzles and all those great dungeon crawler/action RPG sorts of things. Plus it was made by our friends at WayForward, and they generally do good work. It's not hard to find haters out there but they seem mostly mad that it isn't the Silent Hill they wanted, though I think the macabre stylings of SH are a nice break from the usual fantasy settings seen in this genre. These kinds of games are always a little repetitive but everything is more fun with friends, and Book of Memories supports four-player online co-op! That's where you guys come in. Anyone interested? I certainly wouldn't want to face Pyramid Head in some otherworldly nightmare dimension alone. At less than $14 on Amazon right now, it's not a hefty financial commitment and you stand to have scads of fun!
So let me know in the comments what you think. I know there has been talk of various different Pixlbit game nights but have any happened? (You can guess how many I've been to lol.) This is our chance! Come on, let's go kill some horrible personifications of our deepest fears and darkest secrets!
