Phew! Pulled myself away.

So I decided to challenge myself and do a run of Last of Us as a way to commemorate the release of Remastered tomorrow. But what makes this a challenge?

I'm doing the run on Grounded mode, the difficulty that was released a couple months back that was meant to be for the hardest of the core. The hardcorest? Whatever. So what have I determined after playing it for a couple hours?

It's HARD!

I'm stuck just outside the high school because Bill and Ellie keep running around and alerting the zombies when I meant to stealthily kill them with the 4 arrows I have. It's fucking frustrating. But I'll keep trying.

To give myself a break yesterday afternoon, I decided to pick up Guacamelee again. I'd put it aside after failing miserably when trying to pass the platforming section at the top of the Tule Tree. But my frustration at TLoU transformed to determination and after an hour's worth of attempts, I passed it and moved ahead to finish the game.

I LOVED IT! Granted, I loved it when I first started playing it earlier this year, but I'm glad I was finally able to finish it. Expect a review up sometime soon.

Definitely give a look when you get a PS4. It's one of my favorite games of last year, which shouldn't be surprising considering how many other people say the same thing. Guacamelee is super fun too, just not as mandatory to play!

It's fun to try the hardest mode in a game. Sometimes it creates a really great experience even if you don't get through it all.

I was enjoying the challenge of it until I got to the high school. Now it's just masochistic.

I'll still keep trying though. Dammit.

I tried the super hard mode in Bioshock once. It was interesting in that it totally changed the pace of the game and made you play in a totally different way. I liked it for a little while, but it was brutally slow going and I stopped.

I was afraid of trying Bioshock at the higher difficulties. Just reading the requirements for the trophies had me shaking.

It gives the game an even more scary feel. Every step is dangerous. I kinda feel that's the perfect mood for the game even if it's too brutal to enjoy for long.

I just got finished reviewing Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition.  It's really a very good game.

Actually, your review kinda helped spur me to try to finish it! And yeah, it's quite a gem. The art style is unique, the story is silly and the gameplay is crazy fun. I love trying to master the challenge rooms!

Well you might've read the PixlBit review.  Mine's on GamerDad.com.

Great review! If i hadn't already played it, I would've given Guacamelee a chance from that review.
