UPDATE: Arkham Asylum won by a landslide, so I'll be playing that, and also mixing in some COJ Gunslinger to break up the monotony.  I ended up playing Arkham Asylum for about an hour tonight, and I'm thinking it might be a slog...could take a whole week for me to finish, and I'll definitely be using a guide.  I started to collect the Riddler trophies and solve the riddles...but grew sick of the backtracking, really really fast.  I played Gunslinger for about 20 minutes and finally beat the Curly Bill Brocius boss fight that'd given me trouble months ago.  I may still pick a PS2 game to round it all out.  Thanks for your input, everyone!

Good morning PixlBit denizens!

I typically have a difficult time choosing what to play from my copious backlog.  That being so, I figured I'd leave this one to you.  Here are your choices.  They'll all be played on the PS3, though one or two are PS2 digital games.  I'm also feeling inspired by KnightDriver...that dude plays through the games he has and doesn't seem to waver at all in his dedication to finishing what he buys.  That being so, it's time to milk the value from my collection's large tits.

Without further delay, here are the candidates for Darth's next play:

-Ragnarok Odyssey ACE (PS3)

-Call Of Juarez: Gunslinger (PS3)

-Disgaea: Hour Of Darkness (PS2)

-Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition (PS3)

-Batman: Arkham Asylum (PS3)

-Tomb Raider (PS3)

Those are the choices.  Let me know what you think.  Majority, as always, rules.

I vote Injustice, cause I've played TR and B:AR already, and I wouldn't be as interested in the others personally.

1 vote for Injustice.  Thank you sir

And for clarification, I won't be making any foray into the online vs fight-stuff.  The story's enough for me!

Arkham Asylum if you've never played it. Otherwise Call f Juarez Gunslinger because it's awesome.

Call Of Juarez: Gunslinger (PS3). Seems fitting after playing the 80's sci-fi action goodness that Was Blood Dragon by moving on to a game that is a blast from the past. It even has history lessons!

That's 2 Votes Gunslinger

The Disgaea games are a huge time sink and you spend a really long ass time learning rules. So much so that if you put it down for any length of time you'll be forced to start again because you won't remember fuck all.

Arkham Asylum is a good one if you haven't played it yet

xDarthKiLLx

That's 2 Votes Arkham, -1 Vote Disgaea.

You're 100% right about Disgaea.  I also feel somewhat similar in that vein towards Persona 4....I keep starting it and putting it down.

The difference with me regarding P4 is that once I got into it I didn't want to play anything else. I also felt like that a month after I finished it for the second time. :)

I now have all the Disgaea games and have yet to devote any time to any of them. I just bought D-2 on the weekend for 17 bucks new. I have the first two on PS2 and PSP. One of these days I'm going to actually play them I swear.

I dig Persona and all....but at times it feels like it drags.  That's just me being desensitized by all this blockbuster action I've been playing lately maybe.  I actually had p4 on the list up above....but took it off because I knew that it'd probably recieve an overwhelming majority of the votes.

It'll be on the next list for sure

Disgaea is a great series, but so is Arkham Asylum.
I'd say Arkham Asylum, simply to avoid the massive time sink. Those are best saved for winter times!

That's 3 Votes Arkham.

As an aside...I've played Arkham Asylum in its entirety EXCEPT for the final Titan Joker battle.  However, an unbeaten game....that shit hangs over my head.  So if Arkham nails the vote...i'd still be happy

Oh. I mean ... in my opinion, you've already played the best parts of the game then. I enjoyed getting the Riddler trophies though.

I should get back into City, but last time I played it, I got frustrated trying to find things. Something about hunting around 3D areas with a 2D map in games really frustrates me.

It's still high on my to-do list.  Your vote stands, bro!

Arkham Asylym is a good choice. i liked that game alot, but since you've practically beat it, i suggested Tomb Raider...

Arkham Asylum is killing the lead right now with 3 votes.

Call of Juarez is the shortes to complete on your list, so do it first. It is super fun and cool, and one of my top 10 games of last year. It is almost like an arcade light-gun game, but it has a cool art design. Then Arkham.

Arkham.

Add 1 Vote Arkham.

KnightDriver

My first choice is Disgaea Hour of Darkness because I have that game and want to play it myself, but I've played Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, and if you're a fan of shooters, you should play that because it's excellent.

xDarthKiLLx

07/29/2014 at 03:41 PM

That puts Disgaea back at 0 Votes.  Add 1 Vote Gunslinger.

I was hoping Disgaea would do better.  I'll still get around to it...but in the interest of time and doing more of these Choose What I Play blogs, I'll go with the community this first time, for sure.

You can't go wrong with Arkham Asylum. What a great game! I got to 50% completion before a particular stealth segment sent me into a paralysis of frustration. I have pretty low patience for such things, but I'm working on that. I HAVE to go back and finish that game. The brawling is so well done and Paul Dini, writer on the Batman Animated TV series, wrote the game's story. It's fantastic!

xDarthKiLLx

07/29/2014 at 03:57 PM

I agree with all of what you wrote.  Also, having finished the two other Arkham games, I owe it to my self to finish this one...and then purchase Arkham Knight when it releases.

It seems to me that Arkham Asylum is going to take the Vote.  However, the polls are open until Midnight tonight PST.

Until then!

Tomb Raider. Then you will inspire me to go back and finish it myself.

Arkham Asylum is great, but if you've already played it except for the last boss that isn't so exciting, really.  But it is worth finishing.  Arkham City is really good too.

xDarthKiLLx

The only game on your list I have played is Ragnarok Odyssey ACE.  I reviewed it.

I say, skip out on all of those and play Kirby Triple Deluxe or Child of Light or Guacamelee!

xDarthKiLLx

07/29/2014 at 08:30 PM

Child of Light and Kirby are so far off my radar they might as well be stealth fighters.

EDIT:  Sorry Cary, that might be a bit snarky.  Wasn't my intention...I have different tastes than you on the cutesy stuff is all.  Guacamelee! is a game I've played to the last level and had my ass soundly beat by 3 color-coded skeleton warriors.  That shit made me put the game down out of frustration.

Cary Woodham

07/30/2014 at 07:30 AM

Nah if I thought you were being snarky, I'd be snarky right back!  It takes a lot to bother me.  I'm tougher than I look.

I managed to beat Guacamelee, so If I can do it, I know you certainly can.  Speaking of, here's my review of it.

ARKHAM ASYLUM, here I come!

Hands down Disgaea but it may take a year or so to beat lol!!!

xDarthKiLLx

08/01/2014 at 08:40 AM

I started up a playthrough of Persona 4 as soon as I beat Arkham Asylum, Lee....but playing P4 is making me fall back in love with the PS2...so I very well may end up wittling away at Disgaea afterward!
