As I hinted in my last blog, I was perma-banned from yet another website. This time it was PSX Extreme that banned me.
I also see a gutless "Anonymous" chimed in.
The EIC has been in a bad mood since Sony announced that the PS4 would be built with PC parts instead of proprietary innards like Cell. He wanted Sony to go bankrupt by developing another hard-to-develop console to go up against Infinity. In other words, he would be happier if Sony went down fighting instead of trying to get back the U.S. gaming crown with a console that would please everybody.
Other people have noticed the site just hasn't been the same since the change of mood of the EIC and now any little thing pisses him off. He has a thinner skin than even Mike Salmon did.
It doesn't help that many of his "editorials" are flame bait, just begging for a witty answer. I gave my answer to whether the PS4 can get back the U.S. crown and I was banned for making "anti-American" comments.
If you type in his name in Google, you will see him being ridiculed by many people for his views. He is just a loud-mouthed, hypocritical Sony fanboy who most people simply tuned out. Deep down, neither the PS3, Xbox 360 or Wii blew me away this generation. This guy acted like the PS3 was the best thing since sliced bread, which now I know, is not.
What saddens me the most is that he is a legitimate journalist, having written for newspapers like the Hartford Courant. He isn't some Johnny-Come-Lately. I thought he was different from the other poseurs. It hurts that not only is he as bad as they are, he's worse. It's also funny that he thinks people care about his opinions and editorials because I'll bet if I asked 100 gamers if they knew who he was, only 5 would say yes.
I will never get along with video game journalists. They simply want George Clooney treatment whether they are well known or obscure. Maybe younger people are willing to reciprocate but I won't. I only use the Internet for entertainment and have only pity for people who take themselves way too seriously online.
I doubt PSX Extreme will be around much longer as people are tiring of the EIC's act. He lost a lot of credibility when he disapproved of Sony trying to turn their fortunes around. He wants "mainstream" posters instead of people who are voices of reason on his site. I'm sure there's a better PS3/4 site where people just want to have fun talking about Sony.
This one hurt a lot. It reminded me of how even the people we thought were the beacons of video game journalism can be just as bad as the phonies. Maybe when he's in a better mood once the PS4 is a rousing success, I'll return there. Making a new account isn't a problem in my case.
I wish I could be a video game journalist to feel how that ego trip is like, to have 20,000 people following me on Twitter and to know people care about my opinions, misguided or not. It must feel like a rush of nicotine.
Ben Paddon was right. He was also right that the PS3 has too many shoddy ports. At least I can make up for lost time and buy an Xbox 360 and play every 3rd party game the way they were intended LOL.
