Resident Evil Is Getting an HD Remaster

Now if they'd just remake all the original games. RE2, RE3, Code Veronica, but I suppose this is impossible as there is already a remake for RE1 on Gamecube which this new HD game is likely based on-- like the Zelda Windwaker HD Remake.

Thoughts? Thoughts? I think RE is my favorite franchise-- above Silent Hill, COD or Halos.

this will only get any attention from me if they revamp the terrible controls.

I think it's good for fans such as yourself..but for the rest of us...ehh.  Sealed

then again, I could be the lone wolf here at PB that doesn't like RE games, same as I'm the only one who thinks The Last Of Us stunk lol.

Surprise! You will now have the option to change the controls to full analog. :)

Now are you interested?

that changes things

Not a RE fan? This is crazy talk! I will not stand for this! Gaurds seize him and throw him in the dungeons at once!

Jokes aside, I can understand the hatred for the games controls, or puzzles and back tracking, so it might be a nostalgia issue for me, but I have no problems with these things, because I'm used to it I guess. But PSOne games look really crappy on HD tv's so it's nice to get the original game in HD. Do you have a favorite game you'd like in HD-- that's basically how I feel.

the last one I played through all the way was 5....4 is great by all means...but the first few games....all I remember is never being able to figure out how to control them.

I still have a copy of RE2 that I would like to play..but I'm never able to make it past the first building you run into, through the flames.

I wouldn't group all RE games together. The PSOne and Code Veronica games were more traditional survival horror/action games, whearas RE 4,5,6 were more action oriented in general. Plus they controlled differently too. It looks like they might make this new game control like 4,5, looks like because the Gamecube remake did not.

but the Gamecube version did allow you to change to a slightly better control scheme which is the only reason I got as far as I did.

For the life of me I can't get my brain to understand push the analog stick away from me to make the character walk towards me and push it left or right to make character spin in circles.

LOL that's exactly what happened to me in RE2 I couldn't get past the burning cars in the first scene. I think I did finally but not until after many failed attempts where I spun in circles like meat on a spit while the zombies ate me.

I just started a replay of RE2 and I'm progressing quite well. I think it's because I've played the game before, so I know when I can just run or need to fight. The controls are definitely setup to make the game harder. Nostalgia I guess.

The Last of Us WAS terrible. So don't worry, you're not the only one in that camp. However, I do actually like the RE games. Really wish this was hitting the Wii U though.

Nick's got my back on The Last Of Us. Cool

My sentiments exactly. I've tried several in the series and always turned away because of the controls. HD remake has me interested though.

All systems? Interesting to see them not having a Wii U version when they're probably using the high resolution assets used for the Gamecube, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah I thought so too.

It's basically a gamecube remake, which makes the snub burn even more. They are using the GC assets it seems. Already trolling about this, but it's true. Would be so awesome to get a RE game to use the gamepad for inventory and maps.

I loved the remake on Gamecube except for the controls. I made it pretty far but the controls finally got the better of me. Now that you can switch them to proper analog movement I'm definitely in. I'd like to finish the story.

The control were designed by Umbrella Corp. to keep you from finishing the game lol. Those Crimson Zombies though!

Saw this over Tumblr. I'd be interested in trying the game.

Couldn't be more excited for this, if it all turns out well. I love the GC remake, and I'm one of the people who likes the controls too, so it's nice that you'll still be able to use them. I'll play through this remaster with both control schemes to see what the new one is like as well.

I wonder what they'll do with the music and sound. I love the save-room theme from RE1, hope it's intact in this remaster.

I love the GC remake, but even it can use and HD remake by now. It shouldn't be too difficult.

Full analog controls could get me in. If this had RE4's controls I'd be in for sure.

Im pretty excited about this myself but i pretty much figure there making the remake to hold people off on RE7. They wanna reboot the series back to survival horror roots and I figure there doing this to hold people off until their ready to show RE7. If 7 fails to bring the series back, RE might just sink as a series in my opinion is their thought process on it.

asrealasitgets

They should honestly go back and remake all the games in HD, because they were'nt bad and revisit the roots of the franchise before it all imploded. The direction Capcom is going with RE currently, I wouldn't be surprised if the next game took place in outer space, because where else is there left to go with the series?

I actually loved RE6, but that's besides the point.Embarassed

I dont know if the story will be in the same vein with RE7 but hey who knows with capcom, lol. I wish they would too, i figure if the remake does good sales wise we might just get that wish.

I liked RE6, hell i liked the operation raccoon city game!

YES! Dear God yes! First we get RE4 on PC now this! It's a christmas fucking miracle!

How did that version on PC turn out in the end, Blake? I saw it in action but haven't played it for myself yet. 1080p 60 right? It looked like it was performing pretty damn well and looking real nice whenever I saw it. I should go grab that already.

Blake Turner Staff Writer

Yep :) although there were some problems with the knife when I played it. There was a second delay between drawing your knife and being able to swing it or aim which was kind of an issue, but I think that got patched.

Also, if your pc can't run it on 60 fps, it will run at half the speed, although this can easily be fixed by capping it back to 30. There are some cool visual filters available too :)

Overall, I'm happy with it. Mouse support works, although I'd still recommend a controller, as some of the QTE's can be a bitch without it.

I've been meaning to get that GameCube remake for, like, 10 years now. I guess I could just put it off and get the new one...
