That's easy. Final Fantasy VI, also known as the only good one.

I gotta go with FFVI, a timeless classic. Persona 2 is crazy ass hard but still a very cool game.

Without a question it's FF 6. If you've never played it, it is a must!

Not only is FF6 my favorite Final Fantasy game, it's also one of my top five favorite games of all time.  So...you know.

FF6 is good but the PSone port is slow.  But you don't really have a lot of other choices where to play it.  It's really good, but also overrated at the same time, if you know what i mean.

the majority of votes is getting is actually turning me off to getting it....not to say the replies don't exhibit good taste.

I just haven't seen any other feedback on any of those other titles, besides one comment about P2 being hard as balls.

I'm gonna wait for a few more comments before I pull the trigger.

i hear you man.  If I was picking, I would pick P2, because it's the only one I haven't played.

i might end up getting Hexyz Force

I liked Hexyz Force a lot. The battle system is quite interesting. I made it all the way to the final boss battles and couldn't beat it.

Crimson Gem Saga is really old school but I enjoyed it.

Of the first two Personas 2 is the best. The first one annoyed the piss outta me.The random battles are far too frequent.

Be aware than other than being about high school kids 1 and 2 are nothing like 3 and 4

that's what I'm a bit afraid of....and I hear the random encounter rate is STUPID high.

However, would you recommend it?

As an experience and to see the roots of the Persona games, yes. You can also get the original PS1 version of Persona 2: Eternal Punishment which has the same characters.

I have only played the intro to that game. I really should go back and complete both of them.

Final Fantasy VII. Tifa will thank you later...

I watched a buddy play FF VII waaaay back in the 90's when it released.  Shit is EPIC. How many hours is it?

NSonic79

08/07/2014 at 12:46 PM

about 30 to 70 hours if spend all the time with the side quests. I wish I could find my old game saves so I can transfer them to my PS3. I rememgber beating the optional bosses and getting the Knights of the round Materia. I just wish we could get an HD remake. enough of this FFX remake! Give me a FF VII HD remake with Tifa like this...

and I'll spend any price for the system I can play it on. ^________________^

that's the best reason for an HD remake right there.

Said it once, i'll say it again....

the broad is fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.

Geez, everyone likes Tifa...

...including me! :)

Well I hate to sound redundant, but FFVI is the best. I haven't played P2 but the first Persona frustrated me. It doesn't explain things well at all. If I pick it up again I'll keep a FAQ close by.

xDarthKiLLx

08/07/2014 at 10:41 AM

I typically keep a FAQ around, up in the background for most RPGs.  Once I hit the 7th-8th time trying a particularly troublesome area/enemy/segment, I consult the FAQ.

I may be a cheater when it comes to that.

Hey, games are about having fun and if a FAQ helps that, then no shame there Smile

Having played none of these and being not a fan of RPGs, I say Innocent Sin is the most outstanding title. So I guess that one.

What about Innocent Sin stands out to you Joe Mike?

The title of the game stands out from the others. I like the oxymoronal juxtaposition of antonyms.

I personally prefer P1 to P2, so I vote for that!

I can't get Persona out of my head, I may end up with them both, just for the smell of it

You must have the patience of a saint Nick. See what I did there?

I almost hurled my PSP at the wall playing P1, Ridiculous encounter rate, invisible dungeon warps, instant party wipes. There goes my blood pressure again. :)

I have all those games, except Saga, and hadn't played much of them.  I recommend you play FF6.

The one thing that's holding me up on tthat game right now is my unplayed copy of FF Tactics: War Of The Lions.

Does FF 6 have the job system in it like FF 5?

jgusw

08/08/2014 at 07:52 AM

Don't know.  I have them but hadn't played them. Frown

I haven't played any of those games but I do know people went nuts when FF VII was released so play that game.

FF6 really is a beau. It's simply packed with so much content (From hidden characters to a very long and epic story line). That and I felt as every character had diversified "special attacks" that all had unique gameplay mechanics behind them. (Sabin literally "plays" like a fighting game character,Edgar is a steampunk gadgeteer,Setzer pulls off wild shit by lining up various icons on a lucky slots machine, and Cyan has sword moves that would make an honorable samurai jealous)  There are even fun stealth sections with the thief character Locke!

I'm tempted to also recommend P2:Innocent sin but sadly it has a whole other part to its' story that hasn't been localized yet. In that regard at least P1 has a nice and clean self contained story.

08/08/2014 at 09:32 AM

I didn't know that P2 PSP was missing a bit. Then I haven't completed it yet and since I would never have played the part that is missing maybe I wouldn't miss it. LOL

i believe Ben's referring to Persona 2 Eternal Punishment.  I think I read somewhere that it takes place in a parallel world.

mothman

08/08/2014 at 10:52 AM

and it's available as a PS1 classic on PSN.

Well, Final Fantasy VII was on my radar recently.

xDarthKiLLx

These are all good suggestions.

However....I think I'm going to stop buying games and play what I have.  If I can make it through some of my library before I buy a Wii U in a couple months I'll be a happy man.
