Nice haul!
Jupiter's Legacy sounds really interesting.
I liked GOTG too. We took my nephew to see it Groot was very cool.

Games I Beat:
Saints Row (360)
I really enjoyed this game. It's a shame I put off playing it for so long. I always that it was just another GTA clone. It has enough going on for it that it's not GTA. I was totally shocked my the ending. Damn good game. It was pretty glitchy at times though.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes (360)
Not a hard game. I finished the main story, but I have a lot of characters to get. I really enjoyed the open city. I would get The Hulk and run over everyone or get Iron Man and fly all over the city. All Lego games should have open worlds. Really wish so many characters didn't share the same abilities.
Games I'm Playing:
Fallout: New Vegas (360)
I'm glad I chose this game. So far it's awesome, but it's not without many problems. It's biggest problem is running. I almost quit. Actually, I did quit for about a week. I was in this town, Nipton (I think), and I went into the townhall building. After looting it, I wanted to go back outside and I couldn't. The game was stuck in a loading screen. I turned the game off, started up again in the building, tried to leave and stuck on the loading screen again. I tried this 6 times and I couldn't get past it. After a week or so, I didn't play and then decided to google the problem. I try out a couple solutions and managed to get out of the townhall. After that, I've had fewer problems, except dieing a whole lot. I don't remember Fallout 3 being this hard. It also takes forever to level up. Beside those small annoyances, I'm having a good time. I'd like to play more, but my wife is always playing Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (360).
Dragon Quest VI (DS)
I am so tired of this game. I only put in a couple hours a week. I'm at the last boss. He's killed me about 7 times. Right now, I'm just leveling up and saving money to buy better armor & weapons for my party. Once we are suped up, I'm going in for the kill. If I die again, I'm quitting.
Persona 3 FES (PS3)
It's been a long time since I last played Persona 3. I've beaten this game several times on the PS2 and PSP. This will be the first time I finish it on the PS3.
Games I Bought:
Max Payne 3 (360) - I enjoyed the first 2 games. The only think I didn't like about those games were the stages I was "dreaming" and I had to listen to the crying baby and follow blood trails. Those levels sucked. I hope nothing like that is in this game.
Kinect Sports 1 & 2 (360) - I bought a Kinect. It was only $20. My kids like it.
Kinect Adventures (360) - Got it for the kids.
Elevator Action Deluxe (PS3) - The first demo I downloaded on my PS3 was this game. That demo stayed on my PS3 until I recently bought the game.
Street Fighter III (360) - This is still the best SF game, IMO.
Paper Mario: Sticker Star (3DS) - Only $9.99 at GameStop.
Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (360) - I waited and waited and now I have it. I knew if I waited long enough, I'd get this game on sale.
Tales of Xillia 2 (PS3) - Preordered and half paid for. I'll have it when it releases this month. I was going to cancel my order, but then a friend talked me out of it.
BloodRayne: Betrayal (360)
Double Dragon Neon (PS3) - I already had this game on the 360. It was real cheap on PSN, so I bought it again.
Final Fight: Double Impact (360) - My son & I played this to the end a few days ago.
Sonic Generations (360) - It was real cheap on XBL.
TMNT Training Lair (360) - a free little Kinect game to promote the movie. My kids & I have fun playing it and laughing at each other.
Worms Revolution (PS3)
Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee HD (PS3) - Saw it on sale. I actually own the XB version.
SMT: Devil Summoner 1 & 2 (PS3) - I already own the PS2 versions of the game. I saw it real cheap on PSN and got it. Now my PS2 versions can stay in their boxes.
Stella Deus: the Gate of Eternity (PS3) - I hadn't played this game. It's an Atlus game that released on the PS2. I hadn't even heard of it. Hopefully it's good.
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (3DS) - I got this game free using my Nintendo platinum points. I'm ready to save up my points for next year.
During that sale on PSN a while back, I picked up Harvest Moon: Bact to Nature, Dino Crisis 1 & 2, Wild Arms 1 & 2, and Legend of Dragoon.
Other Things:
Neo Geo MVS
Been working on my cab over the pass couple weeks. I had a bad button. It would work sometimes. It was old and wasn't connecting everytime you pressed the button. I bought a new button and changed out the old one. Works beatifully now. It was also a bit dusty inside the cab, so I cleaned it up a bit. A couple of my games weren't working right. They would flicker when certain things would happen in the game. I figured I'd start by cleaning the carts. I think I fixed the problem, but I'm not 100% sure yet. Need to do more testing. I would like to install a universal bios chip on my machine. It would be so nice to have a game genie like device on my arcade cab. Hopefully it's cheap and something I can do myself. Need to do more research and shop around.
Comics
Not long ago, I picked up a Mark Millar comic series, Starlight, and thought it's pretty good. Recently, I got into another comic series, not knowing it was also by Mark Millar, Jupiter's Legacy. I read the first 3 issues and DAMN! It starts out, during the 30s, with these people on a journey to find an island one of them had a dream about. They find the it and something happens on the island, and they have super powers. Fastforward to present day and there are plenty of super heroes around (hadn't stated where they came from), the orignal heroes are old, heroes beat all the super villians (never explained where they are. probably dead), and left are a bunch of super heroes with very little to do and little to no idea of what to do next (this includes the original super heroes' super children). The 1st and 2nd issues are a bit slow, but the 3rd issue is... DAMN! That's messed up! I can't wait to read #4.
I'm still reading Big Trouble in Little China. I think it's growing on me. There is a lot of funny dialog. Jack Burton is never off.
Naruto still has me hooked. I want it to be over, but then what would I look forward to reading every week. This last battle has been going on for over a year.
Also reading, The 7th Sword, Hack/Slash: Son of Samhain, Resident Alien: The Suicide Blonde, Serenity: The Shepherd's Tale, and Saga.
Movies
I saw Guardians of the Galaxy yesterday for my birthday. I thought it was 2 hours of greatness. Think the trailers for the movie ruin a couple jokes though. I loved the heroes. Rocket and Groot should have their own movie.
I plan to see TMNT this week and do a podcast on it right after. I don't have high hopes for the movie though. Maybe it will surprise me.
And that's it. I feel like I'm forgetting something. I'll add it later if I remember.
What are you guys up to?
Interesting, I'm playing Max Payne 3 right now actually. The story takes itself way too seriously, and it has this really obnoxious directing style in the cut-scenes. But other than that, it's a fun game and it's got some pretty cool, Uncharted-like, set pieces. I don't think it has any dream sequences as you are describing.
I also bought Wild Arms 1&2, Legend of Dragoon, and Double Dragon Neon from that flash sale. I like your style.
EDF is great in a "budget B-movie" kind of way. Lotsa giant bugs, giant robots, space ships, and destructible buildings! I like how 2025 has 4 distinct classes that play very differentely.
My only two complaints are occasional slow down and being the recipient of a web attack. Other than that the game is ace!
"I enjoyed the first 2 games. The only think I didn't like about those games were the stages I was "dreaming" and I had to listen to the crying baby and follow blood trails."
You sir are a fool :p These sections are damn awesome and really added to the creepy factor of the game. However, there are no scenes like this. I do fucking love Max Payne 3 though. Every shootout feels awesome and the game is just fun, but also quite difficult.
Also, I REALLY need to see guardians of the galaxy.
The last boss in DQ: VI was a long an dhard battle for me too! I was thinkging when will this game end! Not one of my favorite DQ games. I literally was getting tired of dying so many times I looked up a walkthrough to get an idea of what level or equipment I needed and it turns out I had everything right just I was not doing the fight correct at all. So once I got that figured out I eventually beat him. But again very long and annoying road.
I dodged the Saints games for the same reason, not a big GTA fan anyway. But I picked up Sainst Row the Third a few months back, not at all what I was expecting. Its a lot of fun, only about half way through it though. I had no idea there was a new Elevator Action game, I will have to check that out. Jupiter's Legacy sound like my kind of book. I have heard as far as movies go the Turtle flick is good. As for being a good TMNT movie, not so much. Guardians was awesome.
As for me playing Skyrim and loving it. Still reading Runaways who have become my new favorite Marvel super team. Hope they eventually get a movie.
Glad you're liking New Vegas so far, James. I'm not going to be able to finish it before school starts next Monday but I'm getting pretty close. The game is so unstable and broken it's crazy, it's actually getting much more unstable as I got deeper into the game, but conversely the game content just gets better as you get deeper. So it's a weird situation where you want to see every storyline so badly because they're all fascinating, the DLCs are all pretty great, the main story is my favorite, but game freezes and corrupt saves have become way more frequent now that I'm getting to my favorite parts.
You'll be fine as long as you're observing the old adage of saving often and keeping multiple save files like you should in any game, especially rpgs. The game breaks on me every time I sit down to play it but it never sets me back because of my multiple save files and saving very often. Despite the fact that it's so unstable, it's hardly causing any inconveniences because those precautions.
Wow, this is a packed blog! Paper Mario: Sticker Star has some real problems, but I played it earlier this year and came to enjoy it for what it is. $10 is a good price on that, especially if it came with the box. BloodRayne: Betrayal is haaaard but fun and very stylish. And I love crazed '80s style of DD Neon
I'll see Guardians of the Galaxy eventually. Everyone seems to like it though.
about time you got D&D. can't get enough of that old school beatem ups! I missed out on the last sales since my extra reserves of cash dried up. I ended up giving up on New Vegas myself. I haven't even beat the game yet due it it always freezing or glitching every now and then. I still want to play some of those DLC packs that came with it.
I wish I could've bought some of the more recent sales like the capcom sale. Been wanting some of those games =(
