Found a workaround for Trails in the Sky

If I knock the res down to 1366 x 768 I'm able to play without getting the black rectangles. At least I just completed a job without them showing up so that's a good thing. Sucks that I can't use higher resolution but it's not like this is Skyrim or anything. I shall suck it up and continue.

I've missed a bunch of missable jobs in my hurry to get to the next town and not read the board in the guilds but that's my fault.

I'm glad you found a way to play Trails, Pete.  I was actually getting pissed vicariously about the game, lol.

All I want to do is play the damn game. Is that so wrong? LOL

Actually I realize that when coding for PC you can't possibly take into account all the different hardware permutations that are possible so you shoot for x% and then deal with the rest on a case by case basis.

it's a damn fine game.  It's too bad you've been having so much trouble with it.  you're really making me want to dig up my PSP so I can play it.  I'm not sure if I had the digital version or the real version...

I think I have it tamed for now. Onward!

Maybe my computer may handle the game on higher resolution (it can do Bioshock and Dishonored without much problem), though i'm more interested in the PSP version if it has those problems regardless of PC quality.

This game should be nowhere near as hardware dependent as those two games. I think my problem must be the shared ram for graphics. the core i7 and 8 GB of RAM should be way more than enough but I wouldn't have bought a laptop with shared RAM.

I should try it on my desktop machine upstairs. It has a 1 GB graphics card and 8 GB of ram. It's an older AMD quad core but that shouldn't be an issue.

I spoke too soon. The plague of the black rectangles returned while I was on the West Bose Highway. Luckily I was able to save and quit, then reload my save and play a bit more.

what a weird way to fix a glitch.
