With the recent news about the re-release/HD port of Resident Evil 1 for all systems early next year, I completely missed this bit of information. There is a TV series in the development around Resident Evil. I'm a little disappointed to find out that it is just in a really early stage of development and there is not much of a synopsis or release date. It's not as far along as something like the HALO TV series. It's supposed to take place in Arklay, that mountainy region where the mansion was built near Racoon City, and it's more of a murder investigative cop type show like CSI or Gotham. I'm assuming it takes place before the Racoon City incident, as there were a series of mysterious murders in the Arklay Mountains before the events of the Spencer Mansion when STARS was brought in.

Overall, I really like the premise and idea behind the show. There is mention of a virus though, so that's similar to the game? Right?

So, any thoughts on this? Is this news to anybody? Anybody excited? Don't care?

What channel is it on? Unfortunately, that partially determines how much I care, since I don't have cable. Unless of course it's streaming somewhere.

I've never played a Resident Evil game, but I did recently download Resident Evil 4 via Steam.

I can't take Raccoon City seriously though, cause it makes me think of Sly Cooper.

It's in the too early stages of dev, like planning stages. No sure thing it will see distribution. The ideas is cool though.

I'd definitely watch it! I'm pretty much a fan that stayed on board and I do like RE 5 and RE 6 even though they're not as scary and atmospheric as earlier entries. That stated I'm friggin elated I'll finally be able to play RE: Remake on my console. Seriously,it looked amazing when it first came out and the Spencer mansion is one of the very best creepy settings.

PS: Wow,they got a great cast. Fisbourne and Anderson? For realz? I'm psyched!

I don't hate any of the RE games really. But I like that this supposed TV show aims for a more gritty, dark exploration theme as opposed to the latest games and movie iterations of the splosiony type.

I agree. The writing in Arklay seemed very mature and intelligent. It had sort of this X-files vibe and not just because Gillian was in the footage. This should prove to be excellent!

Welp, turns out it was spliced footage from other movies just to "set the tone" for the show. Assuming they continue that tone I'll be okay with it.

I'd watch a RE tv show, if it was like RE1-3 and RE:CV.

There is a demo reel of what the show is intended to look like on the source page.Since 4 took place in Spain, 5 in Africa and 6 all over, this show looks to stay in Racoon City and surrounding areas.

To me, RE is more zombies in an already zombie-infested world. I'm sure the people who love zombies will get a kick out of it though

Actually there wasn't any mention of zombies. It's more about investigating murders around the area way before the zombie outbreak. It's far from any sort of launch though. More like a pitch at this point, but still exciting though.

I always go see the RE movies. I'm not much of a TV fan at the moment though.

I'm hoping for a direction more in line with the original game and premise, as opposed to the direction of the film adaptations.

Yea, the films have been all about action and it's time to put the scares back into Resident Evil media.
