So apparently Rise of the Tomb Raider will be an xbox exclusive, I dont know if its jsut a timid exclusive but Im honestly calling bullshit. Why take a game after the first one was multiplatform and make it an exclusive to one console, I mean what the fuck really Crystal Dynamics?? Well I shall have to inform my dearest system she will have to buy a xbox one to continue tomb raider. She will not be impressed nor happy. I just dont understand the decision making in this, I mean seriously I was totally excited to continue this series on my PS4. Well I guess that means I effing cant unless they get bitched at enough to change their mind. *sigh*

Dear Tomb Raider Community,

As you may have seen, we’ve just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox. We consider all of you to be the lifeblood of Tomb Raider and the work we do at Crystal. I’d like to give you some insight into this decision, and why we feel this is the very best thing for the Tomb Raider sequel we’re creating at the studio.

Tomb Raider in 2013 was a success due in large part to your continued support. Our goal has always been to deliver something truly special with Rise of the Tomb Raider. Today’s announcement with Microsoft is one step to help us put Tomb Raider on top of action adventure gaming. Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011. We know they will get behind this game more than any support we have had from them in the past - we believe this will be a step to really forging the Tomb Raider brand as one of the biggest in gaming, with the help, belief and backing of a major partner like Microsoft.

This doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.

We know that there are probably many more questions and concerns. Please do send them to us, and we’ll answer to the best of our ability. Meanwhile we’re going all out to try and make something truly special - the most ambitious Tomb Raider game ever built.

Thanks,

Darrell Gallagher
Crystal Dynamics Head of Studios

I really wanna punch someone in the face after reading this -_-

Is there a source to this rumor or is it confirmed? I have yet to play Tomb Raider and I find it hard to believe since Tomb Raider sort of bombed when it launched, you would think that the game needs to launch on all platforms at once including PC to make a profit? This is dumb if true. Isn't Tomb Raider a Square Enix game? Don't they want our money? Next they'll say Kingdom Hearts and FF 15 is exclusive to Xbox? Weird.

Its all over youtube, they announced it at Microsofts gamescom conference today. It sure aint no rumor sadly :( Apparently since we are getting the sequel to lara croft and the guardian of light their hopeing it will suffice for the rest of us. This just angers the fuck out of me.

Well damn. Always thought of Tomb Raider as a Playstation property, even though I played on PC.

Tomb Raider did release alot of its games on Playstation systems but honestly if this has started out as a exclusive to a console then I actually wouldnt be angry. Its just soo effing infuriating that they released the first game multiplatform and then slap all of us with the second being an exclusive.

None of the games announced so far are Fallout 5. I still can't be allowed to care about any of this, Nicole. Lol.

The Tomb Raider thing will probably be a timed exclusive, that's all people can afford to do anymore. That's why PS4 and X1 have both have so few exclusives. Things like Tomb Raider and Titanfall are eventually coming to everything else so people's brand loyalty to each company ends up not meaning much in most situations. The answer is to get a PC lol, jk. Not really jk though. lolSmile

Please give me new Fallout

I have a PC I actually have a Alienware Laptop too.  I however love consoles because I dont have to buy upgrade parts during its life cycle. I pay one price and its set for the next several years. Im hopeing it becomes a timid exclusive type thing but at the same time Im doubtful.

Thanks! I hadn't gotten the news yet, and honestly it seemed unbeleivable when I read your post. I expressed outrage on many sites already. Haha!Cool

I felt the same way, I couldnt effing believe but low and behold it was in the conference and not to mention on tumblr they released a statement concerning their decision which I included in a edit update on this blog. I swear Im sooo effing mad -_-

Since many Xbone games are actually coming to PC (like Dead Rising 3), let's just hope it's only a temporal exclusive game.

Im hopeing its deep down a timid exclusive and PS4 eventually gets it. It still of course would be a good option for atleast PC to get it.

I think Tombraider would do better being multi-platform. Guess I might miss this one because I already decided when I have the means my next gen console of choice will be a PS4.

This same crap happened with Bayonetta. It went from being on the PS3 and 360 to its' sequel being a wii u exclusive. I really hate videogame politics sometimes.

I feel differently concerning bayonetta for the fact that they even said if Nintendo hadnt of become involved it wouldnt of happened at all. So in that situation I can understand but Crystal was set to make a sequel beforehand and it was even being said to be multiplatform, then I can prolly figure that Microsoft gave CD a lot of money to make it console exclusive. Bribing and sketchiness is what I sense from this very thing. hell the letter itself reeks of it. Im hopeing in the end it becomes timid exclusive and we see it on the PS4.

Don't get me wrong. I'm happy Nintendo stepped in to save Bayonetta. Guess I'm just kind of wistful I cannot play the sequel right now. lol. As for Tomnraider? It just seems ass backwards because Tombraider started as a playstation franchise.

Yea, Bayonetta 2 on Wii-U sounds just strange to me. Do they really think it will sell there?

I think it will, for the fact that they are including the first game just makes it better for people trying the series new. Like I said, Nintendo is the reason we are even getting a sequel so the Wii U is either it or nothing.

That's cool the first one is on there too. Add another reason for me to pick up a Wii-U this year.

Looks like Microsoft wants their own Uncharted for their system. Money talks and that's the way it goes.

Microsoft then needs to create their own IP, not take over one already established on other systems. They pretty much gave the rest of their fans the middle finger with this.

As someone who plays a majority of games on the Playstation, I'm disappointed but at the same time I get why these companies do these exclusive release games. Will it make me get an XBox? Nope, but down the line when I might pick up an XBox this will be one of the games I will go after first.
