My Weekend in games and books

So yeah, I said I was going to try to beat Rainbow Moon this weekend and I did (try that is). The final boss is not easy to beat. I hung in for a few rounds but in one round he managed to get all the bad status effects to stick even though I was strong against them and he got 15 turns and took out everybody.

I said fuck this and played a bit of Dragon's Crown. I like it so far and it didn't cost me a cent to check it out which makes life doubly sweet.

On the PSN Flash sale I picked up RE: Revelations. I've had it for 3DS from day one but now I get to check it out on the big screen with a full controller.

As I've already mentioned I picked up the Humble book bundle. I read a little of American Gods and I think I'm going to like it.

In the paper book category I'm up to page 700 of Under the Dome. The book is much better than the TV series and pretty much a completely different story. There's lies, cheating, murdering and Meth production. Sounds like Breaking Bad right?

It is so much darker than the TV show. At this rate I should be finished soon. Only 372 pages to go.

Oh and I got to watch the New Doctor last night. I'm guardedly optimistic about what Capaldi can bring to the show.

How'd your weekend go Pixlbits?

I watched the Doctor Who premiere as well, and like you, I'm lukewarm about Capaldi. I've never heard of him, and I though the fixation on him being "too old" and "wrinkly" was kind of mean. It's almost like the show writers were apologizing for their choice of actor. Apparently, transformation episodes of new Doctors are like ritualistic, and the new one kind of moves around in the clothes of the previous Doctor before fully changing, and that's what I saw, but I don't get what Capaldi is about? Is he going to be cranky and tired the rest of the season or is he going to add a bit of oddness like Matt Smith? I don't know? I'll give it a few more chances.
The Victorian robots were kind of cool though.

I like Stephen King, but I haven't watched the TV Show. I think King said in an interview that he wish he could get involved with the scripts more to make it more like the source material, the way The Walking Dead comic creator develops the show as well? Who knows? Maybe he is right?

I think Peter will be fine given the time.. I thought there were some really good bits. I think he'll be the perfect combination of cranky and weird. Kinda like me. :)

My weekend has gone quie well.  I've killed 5 more bosses in Demon's Souls, including an Arch Demon.

I'm about to make my run on Executioner Miralda shortly.  Also ended up picking up Stella Deus: The Gate Of Eternity for a paltry 4 bucks.  I checked out all the games on the Flash Sale, but none of them were really grabbing me.

Pretty much been a Demon's Souls weekend for me.  Stella Deus should be done downloading within the hour, I'll probably give it a test run....or I'll end up grinding some levels in Persona 4.  It'll all continue into this next week as I await a call from the various places I've applied to this past week.

How many hours are you into Rainbow Moon?  I'm not sure if I'll end up picking it back up myself.

I'd rather live this one vicariously through you.

120 hours and counting Dan. I hear the level cap is 80 in the main game which sucks because I'm close already.

Stella Deus has called my name a few times at 4 bucks. I sold my disc copy but never really gave the game a chance.

I ate a lot. That was my final summer weekend. With a friend. Also played some more Arkham Origins, when it wants to cooperate and not shut down my laptop even at lower settings. Never had this problem with Asylum or City, both of which I ran with whatever graphics options were already there. What gives?

That book does sound like Breaking Bad

Especially since the guy who plays Big Jim Rennie on the Under the Dome TV show is the same guy who played Hank on Breaking Bad.

In the book Big Jim is the ringleader of the meth operation.

my weekend has been good.  mostly been doing nothing.  went to walmart. watched preseason football.  spent a lot of time thinking about where I want to go with music from here.  Gonna try something different now I think.

RE Revelations was really good. The derelict Xenobia ship reminded me a lot of the Spencer mansion, actually. Really want to play Dragon's crown, I simply don't have the proper hardware right now. Code Princess is another game that looks up my alley!

I can't f'n believe it! I remember waiting for literally years for Dragon's Crown to be released. When it does, I buy a Vita to play it, and I still haven't PLAYED IT!

My Wife is a huge Dr Who fan (much bigger fan than I at least) and she's absolutely loving Capaldi so far. She was oddly hesitant about Smith, which later turned out to be her favorite, so seeing her love Capaldi already is a good sign in my books!

Speaking of books.. I loved Under the Dome. I read it in about a week whenever it came out back in 2009 (?).

My weekend was brief. I got called in for overtime yesterday, so yay for money but it left me little time for other things. We watched the new Dr. Who, though, and I'm fairly optimistic. I think Capaldi will grow into the role just fine. I also watched the movie version of Watchmen, finally, and have many thoughts on it. Gonna write a blog if I can find the time and energy lol.

I've always been really intrigued by Under the Dome. Someone at work told me the show was really good but I assume they didn't read the book too. Sooner or later I'll find it at Good will for a buck Smile

I trust Steven Moffat and his choices for the Doctor. We didn't get very much of Capaldi's take on the Doctor, but something tells me he's gonna be a bit darker than we've had. I completely agree with asrealasitgets when it comes to him acting tired, which I'm hoping isn't one of his character traits.

I want to read Under the Dome and am hoping it'll show up at the local used book store soon.

DRAGON'S CROWN!! I love that game so much!

I need to get back into my book backlog (I have a couple including the last of the A Song of Ice and Fire books, and some other audiobooks I haven't ripped to iTunes). The Humble Book Bundles are so cool. Tons of good stuff for the price of one new book, you can't go wrong.

hate those kind of bosses. To hell with them!

I need to play Dragon's Crown.

I was really tempted in getting that RE title, more so since I'm told it's more like how the series use to be.

Passed on the books and I'm keeping my distance with Under the Dome after taht one off tweet I did about the show awhile back...

I'm going to come out and say it. The new season of Doctor Who will not be good. I'll be happy to eat my words when the season ends and it still boasts or remains steady with viewers.
