Lets talk Pokken Tournament, shall we?

Ok, now that thats out of the way - hey guys, its been a while!

I've been extremely taken up by my internship (which is going well by the way) but I promise I have a few things in the pipe line in terms of content. BUT Nintendo and Namco Bandai decided to drop a bomb that I can not wait to talk about. This piece is pure speculation, so I figured I'd blog it out rather than make a full feature for it.

So, Pokken Tournament has been speculated for quite a while, since Nintendo planted that screen shot at the tail end of a Pokemon X and Y trailer. Now we know it to be a fighting game, made hand in hand with Namco Bandai. (Tekken + Pokemon = Pokken, See?)

Needless to say, I'm very excited for this. So now I mainly want to know, what are you're thoughts on this new game. Are you excited, disappointed, puzzled? I mean, a lot is up in the air. For all we know, its Japan exclusive. There are rumblings that there could be a console release in the future. Wii U needs games, and a Pokemon fighter, while not being a full fledged RPG, would still sell units in my opinion.

Anyway, I wanted to speculate a little about potential roster. Fighting games limit the types of Pokemon to those who work best in fighters, but Tekken has proven they can work with odd types of characters. So lets see...

The shoe in/Confirmed characters are Lucario/Mega Lucario, Blaziken and Machamp.

I think its safe to say that these Pokemon all have a good shot:

Greninja

Mewtwo

Hitmonchan

Hitmonlee

Hitmontop

Sawk

Gallade

Swampert

Electivire/Electabuzz

Magmar

Hawlucha

Sceptile

Ursaring

Garchomp

among others that I'm sure I've missed.

This might be a pretty cool game though. What say you guys?

Makes you want to cry, i'm just surprised Capcom never did it first.

Excited to hear more from this.

As for characters, Lopunny could be posible, specialy with its recent Megaevolution that gave it a fighting type.

You forgot Heracross on there. Gamefreak loves it, fans love it, Megalution, and DAT HORN!!! Think Pinsir and Scyther/Scizor will be in it too on the topic of bugs, and Dragonite, Charizard, Blaziken, Tyranitar and the Nidos will be there as well. Hoping Bisharp, Breloom, Poliwrath, and Weavile make it in as well.

I did forget Heracross, and I'm a huge Heracross fan, lol. I was just spewing a few names, but the general pokemon roster is so large, there's plenty to choose from. Curious to see which ones get picked.

Looks awesome! There's no way this would be Japan exclusive since Pokemon is so big in the States. Right? Either way, Pokemon in general has never been this epic.

I don't really play fighting games anymore. I'm more excited for the pokemon card game on iOS.

Looks neat.  I'm sure we'll see it in the US soon.  I just got a press email about the Japan release.  I wish Snorlax was in it.

I can't believe this is real... Tekken is my favorite fighting franchise and this looks like it could be pretty cool. I'm not sure i'll grab a Wii U for it mind you

This looks awesome, but I bet at least some people are going "oh but still no open-world MMORPG Pokemon? And this is what your time is going towards? Ugh."

I mean I haven't played a Pokemon game since Yellow, but I still think that would be the ultimate Pokemon game.

Pokemon meets Tekken. Good idea!
