Ghost in the fog

Ancient Beast

Standing Tall and Menacing

you have watched over countless ages

never asking for praise but receiving countless

Now judgement has been placed on you

the evil wishes to topple you

because of their blidness

a great treasure will be lost

stay strong great ghost in the fog

Now it is time for the METAL!

I hope you enjoyed todays picks. Now go forth and METAL! \m/

Thanks for the songs Larry. I had a friend on 1up that had that album cover from Ghost as his avatar at one point, and I always wondered where it came from.

They are bringing back the King Diamond style music and theater. Not that King Diamond has gone anywhere he is still around and his music is awesome.

I really dig "Judgment of the Dead," Sabbath mixed with stoner/doom vibe it sounds like to me. I've always been partial to metal with slow, bluesy riffs.

Like the organ in "Secular Haze." The melody of the instrumental sounds vaguely similar to "Song of Storms" from Ocarina of Time cause of them. Nice vocals, too.

"The Leer" music video was a bit disturbing. lol

Great picks today!

Pagan Alter is a good Doom Metal band, that track is from 1978 so it was around the Sabbath era.

Ghost is a new take on the Satanic Metal era like King Diamond.

I thought so to but some how it fit for todays picks. I do research during the week and have the line up done by Sunday.

Yeah, I love the slow grooves of that doom stuff. They have their own style apart from Sabbath, though, and I dig it. Speaking of which, The Sword, a band from Austin, TX I saw at Ozzfest 2008 does a pretty good job of keeping that Sabbath sound alive for my money.

I also saw King Diamond at Ozzfest 2008 (he was doing his songs with Metallica); I was going to go to his concert at House of Blues the same year, but it was cancelled cause of controversy; damn shame, since he lives here in Dallas. I'd like to see Ghost live at some point as well, now that I've heard them.

And your research pays off, I always love the tunes.

James does do some beautiful and spooky camera work. I still think that the next Silent Hill game should use his town as inspiration.

As always Lar, thanks for the Metal! Monday wouldn't be the same without it! (devil horns raised in the air)

i listened to them all in sequence. The first one and the last one are my favorites. Pagan Altar because my wife is Pagan. Usually down with stuff with that word in it. I like the use of keyboards in some of the songs. Barren Earth is awesome. I like bands that use a mix of growls with singing. Two bands I enjoy that used that approach both featured the same woman on vocals. Liv Kristine aka Liv Krull. From Theatre Of Tragedy and then on into Leave's Eyes. Interesting when it is two men trading off. Powerful imagery in the video as well.

That is cool about your wife. I have a few books about the Occult Wink. Why does Am I Evil come to mind. Anyway, have you heard Liv's Skintight album? Awesome solo work.

No,I'd not heard of that one. I knew she had quite a bit of solo material. But I will have to find that one. She is so amazing! By the way,the poem and image are really great. They go together perfectly.
