Games I Beat:
Dragon Quest VI (DS)
HELL YEAH!! I finally finished this game. It took almost 140hrs! I was enjoying the battles, but was ready to move on to another game. I'm glad this one is over. I thought about starting another DQ game, but decided to save it for another time.
Fallout: New Vegas (360)
I beat it a couple days ago. Damn good game. It was a little rough with the glitches at the beginning, but I ran into fewer problems toward the end. It is a lot of fun. I still play it a little to do a bit of exploring. There are a few areas I didn't go into or didn't even find.
Games I'm Playing:
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor: Overclocked (3DS)
This is one of my favorite DS games updated with extras on the 3DS. I have bit of a weakness for SMT games. This one is a srpg with the demon battles expected from the SMT series. The english dub isn't the greatest. I usually play with the volume turned almost completely off and I skip through most of the dialog, because I finished this game on the DS several times alreay. The game takes place in 7 days. Overclocked adds an 8th day and I can't wait to see what happens then.
Persona 3 FES (PS3)
One of the my favorite games ported to the PS3. I beat this game several times on the PS2. I started playing P3P a while back, but my PSP is acting funny, so I stopped and decided to restart on the PS3. I'll more than likely finish this game before starting another rpg.
Games I Bought:
Kung Fu Rider (PS3) - I picked this up because it was real cheap. I don't even own a the PS Move accessories to play it. I'll work on that next year.
Madden '09 (PS3) - I got this for free.
Mad Dog McCree: Gunslinger Pack (Wii) - It's a laserdisc light gun game from the early '90s ported to the Wii. I remember seeing this game advertised in EGM and GamePro.
GC games - The Incredibles, Spongbob: The Movie, Jimmy Neutron: Attack of Twonkies, Shrek 2, Cars, The Ant Bully - Got all of these really cheap. My kids can play them.
Sonic & All Stars Racing: Transformed (360) - I finally saw this game under $30 and got it.
Punch-Out (3DS VC) - Nintendo is having a small sale on games that have characters in the new Smash Bros. Different games are on sale every week for a month. I choose this one. Damn shame there's no Mike Tyson.
Under Defeat HD: Deluxe Edition (PSN) - I completely forgot about this game. I glad I saw it on sale.
Soul Calibur V (XBLA) - It was on sale. I hadn't been a big SC fan in many years.
Gears of War: Judgment (360) - My oldest son & I have a great time playing the Gears games together. We'll probably start playing this soon.
That's what I have. What are you guys playing?
New Vegas was one of the roughest games that I have ever played, but it was also one of the most enjoyable. There are so many little moving parts to the story. The thing that made me fall in love with was actually how it ended... I beat the game twice and both times I felt terrible about the decisions that I made, eventhough I thought I was making the right decision. Obsidian did a good job of blurring the lines between what is right and what is wrong and shows you that there is no "best" choice. Each of them has their benefits, but they all have their detractors...
If that makes any sense whatsoever.
I had no desire to screw anybody over, but in the end that is exactly what happened. Oh, I forgot the other thing that I loved about the game. I dumped a bunch of points into speech, in fact I ended the game with 100. I didn't have to fight the final boss, I just talked him down and he walked away.
I tried to stay neutral, but the Legion gave me no choice. I had a bloodlust for those people. I killed so many of them. My speech was at 80. I think I needed 85 to talk the last dude down. By that point I had no desire to talk him down anyway. I just wanted to kill him. Ceasar didn't even give me a chance to talk. He and his men just attacked me.
Sonic Racing is a fun game. I have a lot of tracks and characters to unlock. My kids and I played the game a little. When I get a day free, I'll sit down and knocked some of the challenges out.
Man, I hadn't played GTA III in a long time. I have great memories of that game.
Yeah, I went with GTA III. My only problem is the control mapping sucks for shooting and every time I change it how I want it, the driving is screwed up. I haven't figured out how to have it keep everything mapped how I want it so that car and on-foot control mapping don't keep needing to be changed. Who the hell would want to aim a gun with the Start button and shoot with the A button on a PC/360 controller?
I'm playing a good karma character in New Vegas, and I tried to keep on good terms with all the factions as long as possible, but that's tough to do with the Legion. At some point I did too many things against the Legion's interests and when I went to The Fort and talked with Caesar he ordered everybody to attack me and I died.
So I reloaded my most recent save, to the point right before I entered Caesar's tent, and then I snuck into his tent with a stealth boy on and assassinated him; blew his head clean off. Then I took out all of his dogs and highest ranking guards in the tent with him. Then I slowly and sneakily made my way around the whole Fort killing all the Legionares that I could find with my silenced 45 Auto pistol. Eventually I cleared the whole base and it felt super good lol. Needless to say I've made enemies out of Legionaries everywhere.
Did you ever have groups of Legion assassins hunt you down while you were out exploring? That happened to me all the time, even when I was on good terms with Caesar. And those jerks are really tough to fight, they're always armed with powerful weapons and they hunt you in groups of 5 or so. That always pissed me off, Caesar was talking to me for the longest time like I was still a friend to the Legion but secretly sending assassins after me. It felt good to finally get some payback when I assassinated Caesar in his tent.
At least you got to talk to Ceasar. I accidently attacked his Fort and Boone, Rex, and I just wrecked shop. When I got to this tent, Ceasar and his goons attacked me and I just killed them. They only one still alive in there was Benny. He was on his knees tired up. I talked with him a bit and then killed him too.
I tired to avoid the Legion because they are tough. They attacked any NPC in the area. If they saw me, they'd attack me too. I got tired of running from them and fought back. I would strip the bodies of everything and sale it off. I made some good money that way.
I wanna play Persona 3 (I have it for the PSP) but I know it's so dang long. I'm really hesitant to start something that long. I'll be playing it for months! But right now I'm playing Mass Effect 3. I know that's near and dear to your heart
Gears of War: Judgment is very good. You guys will enjoy it.
I always heard P3 is over 100 hours but maybe that's padded by demon fusion? Of course, there might not be anyway of getting around spending that time lol. I really need to play it though because I'm determined to play it before Peresona 4...which I don't actually own yet. Gonna get it for the Vita, ya know, after playing P3.
Seriously, New Vegas is amazing. So much better than 3. Now if Obsidian released an Elder Scrolls game, that would be awesome. Can you imagine an Elder Scrolls game where your choices actually effected shit, and the story wasn't written by an 8 year old? That would be sweet.
Devil Survivor was the first SMT game I ever finished and it is one of my all time fav in that series. I've yet to play the 3DS version but judging by the Art book I have of it, it's pretty neat.
Got my games working fine on my new SSHD and it's all smooth, I just found out Guilty Gear was on steam and I have X2 reloaded now.
I've yet to play S&A-S: Transformed, Capcom have a sale on steam, i'm waiting on a Sega one.
I'm seriously thinking about putting a gaming pc together next year. It will require me to spend much less on console games though. There aren't many new console games I want to get coming up, so I could put that money elsewhere. Is a SSHD something you think I should look into? I can finally own a pc I can play games on.
It's the best of both world and saves you buying an SSD. A mate of mine has both and SSD and HDD in his desktop rig. and though it runs great he spent faaar to much.
SSHD's are only marginally more expensive than normal HDDs (depending) but they use less energy so it does save time and money anyway.
