Hearsay

I'm not a fan.

If I were asked to serve on a U.S. jury (and it's only a matter of time), I might be asked to leave for the same reasons Neil deGrasse Tyson has been in the past. I believe in innocence until proven guilty, and no matter how well hearsay is corroborated, I refuse to accept that as evidence that determines a case beyond a reasonable doubt.

That's why I don't weigh in on Gamergate and WHAT THE FUCK ROMO, WE WERE AT THE 5 YARD LINE AND YOU THREW ANOTHER PICK?!

And those are my thoughts on Gamergate.

Jury duty is serious business.  I believe in innocence unitl proven guilty too.

As for gamergate...., I don't understand why it's so blown up.  The chick slept with her boss and/or game journalists, I don't care.  Maybe she is a whore.  Or maybe she just likes to have a good time.  Her life and not my business.  I didn't even know who she was until all this stuff happened.  I mean really..., it's not like she's Miyamoto.  Her "game" isn't going to change the world. Laughing

I had no idea what gamergate was until I think yesterday, when Nick linked to an article on Forbes about it from his Twitter account and I saw that on the front page here on Pixlbit. There are some interesting things within the controversy, like the obvious conflict of interest inherent in certain independent developers and game journalists literally being roommates, but for the mostpart, the piece was about a lot of people flinging shit over information that seems sketchy at best. How do I know her ex-boyfriend didn't just tweet those claims as revenge for the break-up, for instance?

Anyway, there are more important things to be upset by, like Sunday football being played poorly by a team I have no financial or other stake in whatsoever outside of family ties and my geographical location making me think "Sure, I'll root for them. Why not?" Tongue Out

football is much more important than this BS, have no doubt. The eagles almost gave me a heart attack today those assholes.

I didn't watch the Eagles, who were they playing?

Jaguars.  Jags were up 17-0 at half.  eagles came back an won it 34-17.  weird game.

At least they came back AND won. All I got was coming back from opening the radio station and grocery shopping to see a 28-17 score that was at least less embarassing than the 28-3 score I saw when I left.

I had that article open in one of my tabs for the past couple of days, but cannot seem to will myself to actually read it.  I know enough about the situation to know that I don't want to know anymore.

Fair enough. I only knew a couple details and I was curious.

all the people involved in gamergate make shitty games and publish shitty reviews.  none of them is ever gonna matter at all.

Technically, I think Adam Baldwin got involved at some point and I don't think he's in any way a game developer or journalist.

That second bit about unimportance might still apply though.

You seem particularly salty about this from comments I've seen. lol

im tired of reading about it man.  seems like its gone on long enough

you're right though..  i should probably just keep quiet, as I've nothing nice to say

I'm not telling you to shut up, I can understand not wanting to hear about it anymore. I was just curious what all the hubbub was about, so I figured I'd vaguely state my opinion on something remotely related so the blog wasn't just a rant about how bad the Cowboys looked yesterday.

oh i know you weren't shushing me dude....i stated that more for my own edification than anything!

I haven't even been keeping up with GamerGate at all.  I kind of feel bad, like I'm not doing my job as a games 'journalist'.  But I'm just having too much fun playing Professor Layton vs. Pheonix Wright.

Being that you write for a website dedicated to helping families understand what games they can all enjoy, maybe reporting on a scandal that started with hearsay about sexual infidelity isn't really something you need to be doing anyway. lol

I'd say you're doing just fine by giving your honest opinion about games themselves.

You're far better off for not having gotten involved in Gamergate. Reading the stuff on Twitter about it made me want to punch my computer screen.

That's why I use Twitter to look at headlines or announce things for the radio station, and never to look at peoples' opinions.

I take jury duty very seriously. That's why I make sure to wear my right guard when i'm called up.

Looks like Romo might be needing some too..

If there were a law against throwing picks, I'd pretty much have to convict Romo.

I'm not sure what the hell is happening Gamergate wise, I hear bits and pieces like someone sleeping with someone which I guess is important because that never happens in any other industry and something Snee said about gaming journalists claiming that gamers are stealing their jobs by blogging.

It all sounds pretty dumb to me. Now excuse me while I go write a book and put Stephen King out of business. I'll self publish it so I don't have to sleep with anyone. :D

Actually, I really should write a book.

As far as I know, the quinnspiracy is the scandal and Gamergate is the movement sprung on the objective to expose the corruption of gaming journalism. That's what I undestood from Tumblr and Know Your Meme. I know i've said I didn't want to get involved (and i'm certainly not), but it's hard to ignore it on the sites I am.

I see. Didn't know it was called The Quinnspiracy.
