Ok Pixlbit I am back for Part 2 of my Quick Hits Chris Is Back Form Hawai’i blog. Now last time I went over how I started my trip (Thanks United) and some of the things I did on the islands. Today I thought I’d mention some of the actual gaming that went on. I mean c’mon this is a gaming blog I should mention the handful of times I whipped out the Vita, 3DS XL, and the tablets right? I also have some other pickups I’d like to mention as well so let’s get started before I force myself to eat Oatmeal.

So in the days leading up to my trip I started adding games among other things because I like to digitally over pack when I go on trips. I don’t want to be bored on trips. Anyways before I go into the games I’d like to mention the TV Shows and movie I added to the iPad Air.

I had Season 2 and 3 of 2 Broke Girls. I was doing a bit of catching up on this show and I figured a good binge watch would help me out

I also started rewatching one of the seasons I bought. Sunny in Philadelphia is pure comedy

And for my one movie

How do you not take The Godfather. The movie is long, its so good, and c’mon it’s The Godfather.

As for the games, I found a deal on Slick Deals where it was buy iTunes $15 gift card for $10 which turned into a couple of console to tablet games. The first being Grand Theft Auto Vice City and the second being

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. This is the game I spent the most time playing. At first the simple controls feel a bit odd, but over a couple of missions I got the swing of things. The funny thing was that while on the flight/delays I spent a lot of time building up my character. I’m still in San Andreas and having unlocked the bridge that leads you out to the country and San Francisco but it should happen soon. I can’t wait to be able to buy and customize low riders.

Since I was also stranded at LAX (thanks for the free WiFi), I played a bunch of this

Sorry to the folks who’s bases I leveled during this time. I wasn’t a happy camper, but I built up my in game street cred.

I also took part in the timed campaigns towards the end of my stay on the islands. I want to save enough of the special credits to unlock the rocket shooting storm troopers because they do a lot of damage.

I occasionally checked on my Simpsons Tapped Out game, and I unlocked some new stuff

There were a couple of moments of “Hey I remember___” when these were unlocked.

For actual handhelds there wasn’t much. I think I took out the Vita and 3DS XL maybe once or twice. The final day of my trip I took my 3DS out with me when I went into full Tourist Mode to catch some Mii’s. There was a hipster in the airport with me who had his 3DS out so I’m assuming I got his Mii (it also looked Hipster-ish).

On the Vita I actually made some progress in Spy Hunter. I couldn’t pass this one level and it was frustrating me, so I put it away and haven’t touched it for over a year. I decided to give it a shot again, and boom, first try. I’m not going to lie, Spy Hunter isn’t a good game, but I paid good money, and I want to finish the damn thing. This will be my goal for this month. I want to knock Spy Hunter off Mount Backlog!

I tried playing baseball but I am completely rusty when it comes to playing on the Vita. When I play on the console I hit like Tony Gwynn/Barry Bonds, when I’m on the Vita, I hit like a pitcher. I don’t think I will sync the three games I did play to my console.

Pickups!

Games

While on the island I saw this on Slick Deals for free

Normally the game is $5 but since it’s free I’m going to try it out. From the description the game sounds similar to the Metal Gear card game on the PSP, where you could only move a couple of spots at a time. I didn’t like that game but since this was free I’ll try it before I hate it.

Another freebie shmup. I added it to the iPad the day before my flight in case I could sleep on the plane.

I’m building up that Angry Birds collection. I guess this is the new one, but I’m still waiting for the Angry Birds/ Gen 1 Transformers mashup.

This dropped to $1.99 so I grabbed it for the plane ride.

While on the plane I started it…and then I fell asleep. I’ll let you guys know if its any good.

So I forgot I preordered this game until a trip to the GameStop where an employee was talking to me about it. I picked it up yesterday afternoon and I was going to play it until I remembered that Sons of Anarchy was back. This will be played later on today.

Some 360 games I picked up while browsing through their table of cheap stuff. My family in Hawai’i loves Karaoke, so I decided to add Lips to the library so I can make a fool of myself in private.

Music

Target Clearance find

I’m not a fan of old school Country (actual Country music, and not the twangy pop stuff), but it was $2 and who knows, I might find one or two songs I like.

This came out yesterday, and I was bummed that the Target Deluxe Edition was sold out

Good thing is that I found the two songs that are missing on iTunes. Overall the album is ok. I like her voice but it seemed like every song sounded the same. I’ll give it another listen before I make up my mind if I hate it or like it.

Some music freebies

U2 released their new album for free on iTunes. If you already have an iTunes account, check the store, and your purchased music and it should be sitting there waiting to be downloaded. If you don’t have an account, go sign up and get your free album!

On Google Play Store they’re giving away Demi Lovato’s album for free. It’s a typical pop album, and again can’t complain when its free!

So during my San Francisco trip I ripped the ear cushions on my V-Moda’s. It turns out that they sell replacements and the best part is, they have new cups that are bigger than the stock cups

I placed my order yesterday, and this morning I checked on the status and they are sitting at the local post office waiting to be delivered. Talk about fast shipping!

Randoms

These are back in stores!

Sneaky Target and their impulse buys at the register. These candies are what I like to call crack for kids. They’re so good, and super sweet.

I finished my online course! My friend joked that I should get a Stanford Alumni sweater now. The class was fun, and I learned some things about coding.

Reddit makes me laugh

Ok Pixlbit, I think I’m caught up with the goings on over the past week. I have a lot of reading because there are some cool blogs I missed here and that’s what I will be doing the rest of the week.

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I think if I go on a long plane flight sometime, I'd want an iPad. It just seems like the perfect travel companion.

I love the iPad because it was my main entertainment while on the flight, especially since I forgot my iPod at home.

big godfather fan.  Big Coppola fan.  A lot of his non-godfather movies are underrated.

Love the Godfather Trilogy...even the the third film nobody wants to talk about. I didn't add the second or third film to the iPad because I knew I wasn't going to get to them.

Does Paramount do 2 Broke Girls? I want to say I saw a poster for it when we went to a showing of Instant Mom on their lot in L.A.

Always Sunny is always funny I never said before now. Good show. As a kid who grew up seeing Matilda, I always like seeing Danny Devito projects succeed and I can't wait to see Charlie Day in Horrible Bosses 2

I haven't watched The Godfather in a while. Great movie, but I don't know where it ranks among my personal favorites. I do get tired of it being so many celebrities' listed all time favorite when they do the Top 5 With ____ videos. Come on, celebrities. Be more original.

While you play San Andreas, I've mostly gotten used to the PC controller set-up for III, but I really wish I could set shooting controls to be usable without losing the option to reverse my car when I do so. But come on. Start to aim and A to shoot in Classic control settings? Are you high? Standard was even worse. At least in Classic everything else can be learned easily enough, but whoever came up with the default mapping of shooting controls needs to be shot. If I could only get the trigger buttons to be mapped, this would be much easier. I'm hoping Vice City and San Andreas have more sensible set-ups, or at the very least IV, since it's the newest one in my Steam bundle package.

Two-nicorn ... surprised I never thought of that.

Spy Hunter on PS2 was fun, but I played it quite some time ago. Looks like the Vita's a different game from that and not just a port. Sucks it's no good, but I know what you mean about getting your money's worth. There's certain music CDs I own and still enjoy now, but I remember when I first got them and wonder if I only like them because I made myself like them, which is the opposite of how pop music on the radio tends to work. Funny that.

U2 would put its new album on iTunes for free when I just deleted iTunes from my computer to see if deleting some programs I don't use often (iTunes, Spotify, and Resident Evil 4 on Steam which I hadn't been playing that much on plan on getting to later) would make Arkham Origins run better. The good news is I got to where Alfred is chewing out Batman. The bad news is I looked on Youtube for how that clip ended and stopped it there to avoid spoilers cause guess what happened to my computer while Alfred was chewing me out?

Never saw Starburst candy corn, but I do like both kinds of candy. And dammit, you reminded me I never actually took that Stanford course. In my defense, there are articles for my current classes saved on my Chrome bookmarks bar where the class was. I've been busy with my actual schoolwork. lol And you should totally buy a Stanford alumni tee or hoodie. I'd love to buy one that specifically said "I graduated from Stanford ..." on the top or front then " ... 's free online coding course" on the bottom or back if I completed the class. lol

And of course NBA2K14 put you to sleep. That's what the 2014 NBA Championships did to everybody. Is there a game in any video game b-ball series with Dirk on the cover, maybe for the 2012 game as per their 2011 championship? I think I'd buy that just to have it.

I think 2 Broke Girls is a Warner Bros. production, but I could be wrong. Love Sunny because it is so un PC and doesn't care. Yeah celebs love The Godfather, just like how rappers love Scarface. I always tell my friend Godfather, and Goodfellas are two films every guy must watch.

I never finished GTA III. It was the big game for many folks on the PS2, but I liked Vice City a lot more. It's a shame about the controls. I always figured the controls were the same for all the GTA games.

I saw download iTunes, download and burn a copy of U2's new album onto CD and then uninstall iTunes, and add the album to your library. I like how they offered the album but I don't want it on my phone. I really do need to jump back into Origins, heck I need to finish both the Vita and PS3 versions.

I think the Stanford course is still up and it is a take at your own pace now. It was an easy but interesting class.

Speaking of the NBA...KAWHI LEONARD FINALS MVP! He shut down LeBron, and I called it...three years ago! I still haven't fired that game up. I need to at least play one game to justify my $1.99
