DLC Courses I want to see in Mario Kart 8

You got Kart Power?

A while back I talked about characters I wanted to see in Mario Kart 8 and now it's time we talk about courses I want to see. Nintendo gave us a glimpse of what to expect from the dlc and the courses that were shown look neat. There was an ExciteBike level, and Animal Crossing one, some other one in a forest I can't quite make it, it could be either a Mario or Zelda themed level, and Mute City from F-Zero. Those are just the few courses they've let us see from the 4 new cups they'll be adding.

It got me to think, what other courses can we expect from the dlc? We''ll find out once the dlc releases but that didn't stop me from making a wishlist of sorts. I'll most likely list which courses I want to see again from past Mario Kart titles but I'll try my best to include some original ones. So, let's head to the starting line..

Lanayru Sand Sea

As far as new courses go, I'm not sure which Zelda themed level we'll see. We'll most likely see a Skyward Sword level and it could be Skyloft. Or we might get a Hyrule Field like stage. I would be fine with that, but instead of going with an obvious choice, they can choose a dungeon or a Province for a course. Like Lanayru Desert. More especifically the portion with the water. Why? The Timeshift stones. In Skyward Sword, there are these stones called Timeshift Stones, they have the power to see how an area looked like in the past. The area I'm talking about was once a sea, but due to time it has become a desert. With the Timeshift Stones you can actually see that place back in time and actually sail. There's also an island with a rollercoaster. It also has a dungeon which was a pirate ship that you can only access in the past which was neat. Wouldn't that be neat if they added that to a Zelda themed Mario Kart course? That way the course wouldn't really be the same. The only problem with that is that the karts go underwater, so they might need to get a bit creative with that. So maybe you can drive on that ship.

              Hyrule

For another Zelda themed level, if they add 2 is maybe a Windwaker one. I think Windwaker suits Mario Kart more better than Skyward Sword. The problem with that is that most of the course would need to be underwater, but if we are going to do that, let's add underwater Hyrule. Imagine racing on Hyrule in it's timeless, petrified state? It would be neat to see everything in black and white and you're the only thing in color. And maybe in the final lap color returns to Hyrule. Or race through Hyrule and you end up in Ganon's Tower as a course that is only in sections.

                                Port Town

The thought of having the Blue Falcon and Mute City in Mario Kart is just Nintendo telling us that we'll never see a new F-Zero game. But if that's the case, why not add another level? I'll be honest, F-Zero and Mario Kart just don't mix, but that didn't stop Nintendo from adding Mute City. I asume that you'll be in anti-gravity mode though all of Mute City though since the machines in F-Zero hover above the ground. So I hope they add a course like Port Town, either the X or GX version. Or if they really want to make you suffer, Big Hand from F-Zero X. Big Hand is a course from F-Zero X, it has alot of tight turns and curves, and there are no guard rails. Perfect for Mario Kart.

                       Hightail Falls

Super Mario: We got Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach, so that means we will see a course from Super Mario 3DLand/3DWorld. But which course? 3DLand aside, they were all great so I wouldn't know which they would add. I hope it's one that has that song that sounds like a jazz arrangement. Or a train level that's just a course you just go through segments since we don't have alot of those. I personally would like something from Super Mario Galaxy but we already have 2 Galaxy themed levels. Something like Hightail Falls Galaxy would be neat and would have some neat uses for the anti-gravity.

Animal Crossing

I'm kinda clueless on Animal Crossing to be honest. I've only played the first 2 games so I wouldn't even know what course could they add. So I'm just going to try my best, but what about one that you go through the City in City Folk? Yeah I don't know what I'm talking about but that's all I got. I don't mind as long as it has some K.K. Slider in it.

Bianca Hills

Super Mario Sunshine: I know we had Sunshine Airport but what about something from Isle Delfino? Alot of the levels there would make some good courses, like that one in the imgae, it's just begging to be turned into a course. I'd personally would like to see either Ricco Harbor or Pinna Park.

Retro Courses:

Luigi Raceway

Luigi Raceway: I'm honestly surprised Luigi didn't get his own course in MK8 and now we know why he's always angry in the game. If I had to go with a Luigi course, it would be the one from the N64, or the Double Dash one. Either would be fine for me.

Maple Treeway

Maple Treeway: This is one of my personal favorite levels from Mario Kart Wii. It's just you racing on top of some giant trees. But what really makes me like this level is the song that's playing while you race. It's just relaxing. Perfect for a game that makes you nervous about getting pelted with shells.

Moonview Highway

Moonview Highway: One of my other favorites from Mario Kart Wii. I don't know why but I've always liked city levels in games, and cities are pretty rare in Mario games. It was a tough choice between either this or Mushroom City from Double Dash, but I went with this one because the other is just a city. This one has a bit of variety, the city, the bridge, and the nice view you have as you're about to enter the city.

Choco Mountain

Choco Mountain: One of the levels I remember alot about Mario Kart 64. I'll admit I really liked the music and the banjo parts. But what was neat is that you had boulders constantly falling on the course while racing. That just added more to the frustration while trying to stay in first and avoid getting flattened by falling rocks.

Rock Rock Mountain

Rock Rock Mountain: If Choco Mountain isn't a course that get's picked, I certainly hope it's this one. This level actually suits Mario Kart 8 perfectly and it wouldn't require too much work because it's actually recent. Plus there's this section near the end that would be perfect for anti-gravity.

              Mushroom Bridge

Mushroom Bridge: I went with this choice over Mushroom City because this one seemed more interesting to me. This one has more variety in vehicles you have to avoid, and that giant Wiggler Bus. there are some sections in the course that allows you to climb the very top of the bridge which can be used for anti-gravity.

                        Koopa Beach

Koopa Beach: I don't know much about the first Mario Kart game, I never played it so this pick might be me making up stuff. I think I would go with this one, only because we have Mario, Bowser, and Ghost themed levels already in Mario Kart 8.

Desert Hills

Desert Hills: Choosing a course from Mario Kart DS is hard because they already took one of the best levels from the game and did a really well job remaking it. There is another one that we'll talk about in a bit. I chose this one because there really aren't too many desert levels in Mario Kart 8. I just really want to see the angry sun chase you on the course again.

Banshee Boardwalk

Banshee Boardwalk: It was either this or Ghost Valley from the SNES Mario Kart, but I went with this, mostly because of nostalgia. This was one of my favorite levels when I was a kid and I was hoping Dracula would come out of that coffin when I saw it. It was really a race on an old creaky boardwalk with ghosts, and the giant Cheep Cheep that jumps out of the water. It was really neat, another I'd love to see again.

         Ribbon Road

Ribbon Road: I'll admit I never played much of Super Circuit, I have it on the 3DS but haven't played too much to remember alot of the courses. But I'd go with Ribbon Road. It just looks like a really fun course to race in.

Neo Bowser City

Neo Bowser City: Another city based level, but this time a Bowser themed one. One of the things I liked about this one was that at some points the song sounded like the song from Toads Turnpike. Another thing is that it was always raining. I don't think we have a course like that in MK8. I'd say I would choose this over any of the other city based levels.

                    Kalimari Desert

Kalimari Desert: This was one of my all time favorite courses in MK64. I loved it, but moslty for the train. I always tried to follow the train as a kid and see where it went. I also loved the song from that course. I'm not sure what they can do for anti-gravity but sometimes you really don't need to add it just because. I just want to see it again.

DK Jungle Parkway

DK's Jungle Parkway: This level was always a blast as a kid. I really liked this level because it reminded me of the Donkey Kong Country cartoon, anyone remmeber that? I also remember that section where you had to jump over the boat, I remember trying to go as slow as I can in hopes of landing in it. And actually, this course can have some anti-gravity segments in the cave before you make it to the start/finish line.

Rosalina's Ice World

Rosalina's Ice World: I'm only putting this is only because I really want to race in the Observatory, and if they don't add a course like that, this is as close as I'm gonna get. It's really just another ice/snow thememd level but there are some segments where they can add some neat anti-gravity parts like in the turning section before you reach the water, and in the cave.

                     Waluigi Pinball

Waluigi Pinball: My number one choice, it's a crime not having this level. What really sets this level apart is that you're racing on a giant pinball machine and you hear the classic pinball sounds and you have everything that you would see on a pinball machine. Plus you have that giant Waluigi in the stage that's basically telling you that you're in his world now, wahahahaha! They can add anti-gravity if they wanted too but I wouldn't mind if they didn't add anything, I just want to see it again, pull a Tick Tock Clock on it with all the things going on in the race. It's really one of the most interesting and fun of the Mario Kart levels.

Bonus!:

SNES Rainbow RoadN64 Rainbow RoadGBA Rainbow RoadGCN Rainbow RoadDS Rainbow RoadWii Rainbow Road3DS Rainbow RoadWii U Rainbow Road

Rainbow Road Cup: In every Mario Kart game, Rainbow Road is always the final course, think of it as the ultimate test in Mario Kart. I personally never have a problem in them, but I would love to see a cup filled with all the Rainbow Road courses, that would be incredible. It'll be challenge after chalenge after challenge, nothing but sapce and pure rainbows. I know Nintendo wont do this, especially when 2/8 of those courses are already in the game. Maybe they'll do this for Mario Kart 9.

So those are my pics for courses I would like to see as Mario Kart 8 dlc. I tried my best but I technically picked ones I wanted to see, not the best courses in the whole franchise. Which ones would you like to see? It took me a while to finish this up, I originally intended it to be up a week ago but I was having problems with my internet connection, so hopefully you enjoyed it. Next blog I'll write about the Battle Mode, so thanks for reading and later.

I'm looking forward to playing Zelda and Animal Crossing crouses in MK8 DLC, but honestly I'd just rather have them be in a new game.  I think a Super Smash Kart would have legs...er, wheels to stand on its own.  Same goes with Kirby.  Just make Kirby Air Ride 2.  I like your idea for a Rainbow Road cup, though, since many pick those tracks for online races anyway.  Now go read my blog.

Those are all awesome choices. I really like Neo Bowser City. That looks cool.
