I have high hopes for the Wii U, and think it will do fine in the long run. I don't think it will be a sensation/fad like the Wii was, but I think it will will do good once the 1st party games come rolling out. I can't wait for a new Mario or Zelda though, and I hope they come soon.

So I havn't really blogged since I finished up BaD on 1up. So I think its about time I gave PixlBit a bit of pixel time.
The trick here is to have something to talk about worth reading. Of which I have very little on deck. So here goes anyway.
There is a lot of talk about if the Wii U can survive this round of console wars. Once again Nintendo finds themselves lingering out the gate. U sales have been dismal as of late, but of course this has happened before. Nintendo is very good at re-focusing their strategy and turning lack lustre sales around. The DS wasn't looking good in the beginning, but being quite affordable compared to the PSP and a few great titles gave the little handheld that could a great kickstart. Nintendo will have to pull some strings this time for the U, unlike the first Wii, this console does not have universal appeal with an all friendly game like Wii Bowling. Nothing about the U will put this console in living rooms and nursing homes alke. In other words, Wii U will NOT print money. So House of Mario has to go back to doing what they do best; produce AAA quality first party games, and they need to come soon.
People are concerned that Nintendo hasn't announced the next big Zelda or Mario, the thing is they DO have time. Even though Sony announced their next unit and MS will do the same very soon, it will be a while before they go neck and neck on the market. I think Nintendo will announce a drastic price drop near E3 and reveal some key titles everyone's been waiting for.
Nintendo has another thing going for it. From what friends in my circle of bloggers and real life peoples have said, the Wii U is a joy to play. The tablet controller works very well and everything just has that Nintendo polish about it. This is a good thing, this means they have a solid platform to work with and as long as they focus on their streangths, the Wii U can survive along side the other heavy hitters.
Well there you go, pixers.
So before I send this sucker, who's going to PAX East? I could only do one day last year but I'm going all out this year. Can't wait!!
