This Weekend In Entertainment

Here's what I did with $24 this weekend.

I bought the first book in the Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz. I'm about 1/3 of the way through it and it's a really good read. I've never read anything by him before but if this is any indication I'll be looking for more.

I spent the full amount and picked up all the Humble Valiant Bundle. I haven't read many graphic novels/comics but I checked out a couple of them and thought what the heck. So now I've got a shit ton of comic reading to do.

I also bought the first Dragon Quest for Android. I have the original cartridge but I thought I might play this one rather than firing up the old NES again.

I'm about to tuck in to the Shadow Man comics right now, :)

Saw the Odd THomas movie and really liked it. A good incentive for me to keep an eye on the books too. Thanks,Peter!

I didn't even know there was a movie until I saw the DVD on the shelf while wandering through FutureShop this weekend.

I also got the first Dragon Quest game for android this past weekend.  This will be my first foray into the series.

This is a remake of the first game which was an NES cartridge originally. Even updated they've kept it pretty basic. I never played too much of the original game. The first game I finished was DQ IV on the DS. So I saw this as an opportunity to see the series in it's infancy.

I have a stack of Dean Koontz books but have only read one of them, The Good Guy, which was pretty good. But I have Odd Thomas and, like, three of its sequels. Just haven't gotten to them yet. I'm still on my comics kick, which has lasted a lot longer than I expected. I finished the second volume in Neil Gaiman's Sandman series last night. Really good! I think I might take a break from that though and read some Batman. I got the first volume of the New 52 series from the library Smile

After reading American Gods, I started looking at Gaiman's other offerings and found that Sandman is his most revered work. Unfortunately it's 10 bucks for each book even in digital format so I may not jump on that until I can find it for less.

I know what you mean. Thankfully, I've been able to get them from the library so far. Otherwise I would not be paying all that money to read this lol

The first DQ on Android is only $3.20 in Canada. The other two, IV and VIII are $15 and $20.

I heard they took out all the voice acting in VIII too.

I posted Dragon Quest VIII for my Android/ iOS pic and mentioned you that you may know if 19.99 is worth the new version but since I havent played it I have no clue but I do want it.

For a buck more, I went to see Billy Bragg in concert.

I like Dean Koontz. My boyfriend in college really liked his books and that's how I happened to start reading them. I think the first one I read was Twilight Eyes.

A buck to see Billy Bragg? Sounds like a deal to me. How was the concert.

I definitely want to read more by Koontz. I'll be finished Odd Thomas this week but I have all kinds of books on my reader that I should read first.

It was $25 to see Billy Bragg, so a dollar  more than you spent this past weekend. And the show was freaking awesome! He opened with this:

Aah, misread the post. $25 is still good. I remember liked what I heard way back when. Glad to see he's still active.

Odd Thomas is also on Netflix. The movie isn't that bad.

Dean Koontz, there's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

Judging by how much you spent, and the content you got in return, you sir must have had one heck of a weekend. What app do you use to read your comics?

Lumiread seems to work best for the HD PDFs I'm downloading.

Kobo doesn't show the pages full screen so I stopped using that.

Cool, I'm going to check that out. I use another app on Android, but I want to test a couple of them to see which one I like using.
