Square Enix is celebrating Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King’s with the release of a new version for Android and iOS. As the last survivor of King Trode’s army, Hero, players must find the jester who stole the sovereign’s scepter and caused his downfall. The mobile version features revamped touch-panel control with support for one- or two-hand play and a new battle system allowing for direct or automatic control, plus an auto-run mode, alchemy pot for item creation, and the ability to recruit monsters. According to Square Enix, the mobile version features the same 60-plus-hour campaign as the PlayStation 2 original.

Android 4.0 and higher is required. Supported iOS 6.0 and above devices include iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPad Air, and iPad mini with Retina Display. The iPhone 4s, iPad 2, iPad (3rd and 4th Generation), and iPad mini are also supported, but it is likely that the game will become unstable and crash during extended play; iPhone 4 is not supported.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King is available for $19.99 for Android and iOS devices.

that's waaaaaay too expensive for an android game. Especially with all the bugs this version has...hopefully they worked it out.

I really really love this game, but I hear this is the inferior version, with no voice acting, etc. God I wish the full game was on there though.

60 hours plus. Yeah, I put in 90 hours and didn't finish it. It's amazing that they got all that game on iOS.

I beleive mothman got this and could tell you if its worth it I havent got it yet but I did get xcom & its an exact port so until I hear more on it I cant recommend it..

Nope, got the first one not VIII.

After what I've read I probably wouldn't buy this one. The PS2 version is great though.

I'm out of luck. my tablet is only 4.0.3. Not sure if that's high enough. And I could see myself giving this a good too.

Ouch $20 for a tablet game is a bit steep for my blood. I would wait a bit to see if it drops. Thanks for the headup on this!
