Hello Friday, I have missed you. Friday is such a good day because it’s the end of the work week, and it sounds like Fried which is always good when adding it to a word like Chicken, Pork, or placed in the middle of Deep (____) Food. I’m currently listening to my iPod while typing up this blog. I’m still on the fence about a game that I either might pick up just to play this weekend, or I will hit up some thrift stores later on today. Anyways it’s a cool 77 degrees but today

And apparently it’s going to maybe hit 100 today. I launched that by using the “Hey Siri” feature while it was sitting next to me charging.

Siri wasn’t too impressed with my usual question. If you tried this with older versions of Android, Android voice would complete the saying. Anyways it’s time for a new Quick Hits with Chris!

Big Brother Finale (There will be spoilers)

The Finale was on Wednesday and I thought it was good, it was a little rushed but good. I would have rather had a two part episode instead of having a faked Flashback episode where the final three are sitting around a table eating breakfast and thinking about what went on in the house.

Out of everyone in the house I found two people easily the most annoying people on the planet

Jocasta because everything out of her mouth was religious based. Here’s the kicker, during the voting she held a grudge against one of the players and voted against him because of that. Yep I guess the whole forgive and forget went out of the window huh super religious lady. With one act I guess all that stuff you constantly quoted from the bible went out the window because someone won $500k and you didn't. I could imagine that Tim Tebow watches and also said “enough with the religious stuff. We get it, you love religion.”

By far the most annoying person who thought way too much of himself is Frankie aka Ariana Grande’s older brother/ “internet mogul”/camped out in the shadow. I do like how he was on the show so he could raise money to build schools in Africa *cough be in the spotlight for 15 minutes *cough. He kept his sister a secret until he thought he was going home and boom all of a sudden he tells the houseguest, like it was a big turning point.  Nobody cared.

My favorite houseguest in the second half of the show is

Victoria. She didn’t win any competitions, and the way the producers cut the show, it made her look clueless throughout the season. Props for this because she made it to the final 3, and always dressed up for eviction night (her only night on camera). I called her the evil genius because I was waiting for her to say something like she has a degree from MIT, is a former member of the Special Forces, speaks 8 languages, and is currently in medical school because she’s bored. I thought it would have been a fun turn in the game.

The game itself ended up pretty much like how everyone thought it would, a couple of weeks ago. I think next season I’m going to buy the live feeds, because I liked watching Big Brother After Dark for the extra content.

Survivor

Survivor is back with its Blood vs. Water storyline where the two groups split up couples and siblings to compete each other. The big name this season is this guy

Remember John Rocker?

I think the majority of folks watching are waiting for him to say something racist. One episode in and he seems like he’s calmed down a bit.

Chris Finally Uses His Stickers

While in Hawai’i, I bought some stickers. I went to a couple of different shops including my favorite place the swapmeet, and added them to some items. One of the shops I visited was a store called In4mation, which is a streetwear shop. The folks that work there are really nice, so check them out. Anyways I added a couple of their stickers to my iPad case and iPhone

My Phone. The sticker matches my clear case

My iPad case with an aloha sticker from In4mation, and my Swapmeet Kamehameha sticker. My iPad case looks like a yearbook now.

There’s A Midweek Swapmeet

I found out that there is a Wednesday Swapmeet in my town, which I got excited because that’s another opportunity to look for Lego and other stuff. I was shocked to see that this swapmeet was a lot bigger than the Saturday version, and there were more interesting vendors. Video games are still a bit pricey (you too can purchase sun faded cases with scratched games for $2-3 over GameStop prices). There was a one guy who was selling off stuff from his collection of comics and games, and he actually understood how to price games. I was there for Lego and when I got to the lady selling $10 bags of parts I inspected her latest bags and found that quite a few of the bags were padded with K’nex, and dirty parts. I passed and checked out the other vendor who was selling the Chinese knockoff specialty minifigs. The build isn’t bad, and you can get figures that were not released by Lego, but $5 each or 5/$20 for fakes, I’m on the fence about.

The lady had all three and I really wanted the Red Hulk. I do know if I ever do decide to buy fake Lego, they can be found on Amazon.

On the way home I decided it was time to have a good cheeseburger. I haven’t had one since July and I really wanted one so I hit the local diner, and picked up a bacon cheeseburger and order of onion rings. Easily my favorite pickup of the night.

I went with the snake theme for the swapmeet.

iTunes Music Festival

I wasn’t too excited about this year’s iTunes Music Festival, but I decided to give one of the acts I liked a watch before I called it a night

Blondie wasn’t bad, and I might check out the other acts later on tonight.

Star Wars Commander

I’ve been really getting into game because I’ve leveled up my troops so I can just walk into other people’s bases and kick ass. The shame about this is that I figured this out while upgrading my base.

I quickly jumped into another raid after I saw my current ranking

Once I upgraded I got moved up to a new group of people and the bases are a little harder to raid. Looks like I need to upgrade my fighters to level 6 so I can continue the ass kicking. After that I probably will stay at this level for a while.

I can’t wait to play the new bonus levels later on today. I think my team will do well and hopefully I can earn the max number of special credits

Chris Sorts Some Cards

I bought this box awhile ago from a thrift store, and a couple of days ago I decided it was time to sort through it

I went through this box, sorted out the copies, favorite players, and put the rest into teams so I can add them to my excel list of cards.

On the left, the two big stacks are the teams split into conferences, the middle top is the copies, the middle bottom are the favorite players, and the small stack on the right are Dallas Cowboys copies that I am going to use in an art project.

Pickups!

Games

I didn’t buy any games this week. I thought about Disney Infinity 2.0, and passed, but I might change my mind this weekend. We shall see.

So the good people who made Asphalt combined the running game with racing to create Asphalt Overdrive. I played a bit last night and it’s nothing to write home about, but it has its moments of being fun. It’s nowhere near as good as Spider-man Unlimited, but it is something new to play.

Music

A couple of albums

Before I left for Hawai’i this album was $7 bucks. I didn’t care for it but since the radio stations on the island wanted to play Rude all the time, it got stuck in my head, and when I decided to buy it, Target raises the price back to $10. Blah!

I also picked this up because I thought it was a steal at $5.

iTunes is giving away this four song EP from some guys from England. If you are one of their crazy fans go grab this EP.

Now for the item I was actually at Target for but got caught up in the CD section

I had an old external for a good 8 years. It was loud, and bulky but got the job done. Well after someone dropped it (not me) the tray would get stuck and you would have to push the eject button numerous times before it opened. This was a no go especially because I had that stack of Christmas CDs to rip so I bought this burner. It’s a cool little burner, and it fits in my laptop bag, and lets face it, I wasn’t about to spend $90 for the Apple version. I love you Apple but if I can find the same item for $30 I’ll do that and slap an Apple sticker on it…which I did

Ha!

Lego

Last Saturday at the swapmeet, the Lego lady had some stuff and there was new stock. I looked through and found this

Looks like just a bunch of random blocks but there’s something good in there

It’s the hull for the Black Pearl, along with some of the ship specific parts. I originally saw the ship’s mast and I need that for the old pirate ship hull I bought years ago, but then I flipped the bag over and saw the hull. It’s complete and currently with my parts and online instructions, I’m building the Black Pearl. I’ll probably have to make a trip to Walmart to buy some fabric for the sales but other than that, I think I can complete the ship. If not I’ll visit Bricklink for any missing specialty pieces.

Cards

I needed a box to place my newly sorted football cards in until I can get them into their team sheets, so I bought this at Toys R Us

And for the first time in a while a pack of cards. I pulled a Clowney rookie, which should be worth like a buck, and a Sammy Watkins rookie but it’s one of those small square cards that’s meant to be like a retro card.

Lootcrate

I was excited for this month’s Lootcrate because it was a galaxy theme box with stuff from Firefly and Star Trek.

There’s some cool stuff. I probably won’t open the Tribble from Star Trek, or the Alien figure but I did open the box

Because it was Captain Malcolm Reynolds! And my favorite box

Love that Serenity interior!

Alright Pixlbit enjoy your weekend, I am off to eat

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

I had myself a KFC Double Down just now for fried Friday. It was ok. I'm hungry.

I don't think I've ever had anything other than the bucket of chicken at KFC...oh and Hot Wings. Those things are good but not "please wait 10 minutes while we cook them" good.

I am always intrigued by the concept of loot crates, but having a very small living space and trying to down-size and create more living space, the reality has always held me back. But that Firefly/Star Trek loot is pretty feaking awesome!

Yeah having more living space is always good. I tend to keep the Lootcrate stuff in a box unless I find someplace cool to display some of the items. The fun thing is that I saw that Barnes & Noble along with Toys R Us carries those retro action figures (like the figure from Alien) so I might start a collection of Firefly figures.
