Well, hello again.

So, looks like my workplace stopped blocking game sites. I don't know if this was intentional or not, but its been like this for about a week. Might as well take the opportunity to post a quick blog.

I finally dove in to Diablo III, its on sale right now on battle.net for $20. Thats the sweet spot price for me. So far I really like it, better than I thought I would. I really liked the music that would play in Tristram in the older Diablo games, it was a little touch that really set the mood for the rest of the game. I was worried if they couldn't match that feeling I wouldn't be as in to the game. But there is similar music (if not the same), so I'm happy. :)

I'm also almost finished with Shovel Knight. Man, such a good game. There isn't more I can say about it that hasn't been said. Some people say they got the feel of NES games perfectly, which is what makes the game great. I disagree, the NES element is done great, but what they got perfect was integrating modern elements seamlessly. I play on 3DS and the 3D effect fits so well.

I was really excited for Destiny, I loved the beta and was ready to dedicate as much time as I could. Thankfully I didn't pick it up day one and waited to hear on other peoples reactions. One thing that turned me off is the long missions and inability to pause. Sorry, I got a newborn, that just aint gonna work. I barely have time to bop around Diablo as it is.

So, I have other hobbies besides games, believe it or not. Right now I'm working on getting a sweet vintage stereo setup. I scored a sweet receiver at savers and now looking for an equally sweet turntable to spin some vinyl. Gotta love that soft analog sound. Also, now that its getting darker earlier, its prime starwatching season. I have a decent telescope of my own and I also visit an observatory regularly.

Lastly, if all goes acording to plan we'll have our Pixlbit Dungeons & Dragons game tonight. So far I'm liking 5th edition. I'll post more thoughts about after we play.

Cheers!

I love my turntable.  IT's nothing fancy, like a $100 one my brother bought me for xmas.  I'm in the process of upgrading my stereo, bought a new center channel.  I like listening in 5.1 "stereo".  I order a lot of used and new classical records.

$100 ish range is what I'm looking for in a turntable. All I have right now is a cheapie 80's all in one unit.

yeah I'm still using the speakers for one of those as my front speakers.  That's the next part I'm upgrading is those. the receiver for that unit died a while ago, and I'm using a Yamaha surround system now.

I should buckle down and buy Shovel Knight for Steam.

I picked up the D&D starter set and the PHB recently and really love how they've stripped the system down AND still made it feel like a modern game. I'm hoping to get some games in with my group soon.

I'm waiting for the Ultimate Evil Edition to hit $20. That's my sweet spot too.

My first obsession wasn't gaming, it was stereo equipment. Back in the 80's I was really into learning about recievers, and speakers, and equilizers, and tape decks, and turntables. . .then the CD players hit and I was all over those, rebuying my favorite vinyl albums on the new format. Then there was car stereos, and boom boxes, and external mics, and reel to reel tape machines, and DAT recorders, and four track recording machines, and Walkmans, and. . . did I miss anything?

Funny you mention your hoppy for stargazing because I've been looking at picking up a telescope. It always seemed fun to just look up at the sky, and since we had that blood moon a couple of days ago I've started looking around where to pick up a decent starter telescope.

I gave away the vast majority of my vinyl collection, which included my mom's vinyl collection. My friend and co-worker Andy collects, and I knew he'd give them a good home. I just didn't have the space or a turn-table and I'd been holding onto them for 15+ years saying "Someday I'll get a turntable" and it never happened. Andy is enjoying them.

I'm will you on destiny. After our playthrough during the beta I thought it best to wait. Though I have friends that want me to join them, I don't see myself getting onboard anytime soon.

I found a turntable at one of my rummage sales but have yet to see about getting it set up. Need some records for that.

Don't think I've forgotten our Pac off challenge. I'm still working on beating your high score. it's just taking some time plus there is Octoberween to celebrate!
