To be honest im not sure im in the mood for im getting excited for
Yes 2014 I missed 2013 due to the fact it never made it to the west only digital which I thought about getting but the deluxe edition was $74.99 on psn and its stayed at that price to this day and to be honest that much for a digital version was just to much for my gaming budget, but with F1 2014 set to launch in a few weeks for the ps3 & 360 this will be the one I get.
Anyway im thinking of playing Operation Darkness since in
many ways it plays like a cross between Sega's Valkyria Chronicles and Camelot'sShining Force series, perhaps with a bit of Fire Emblem thrown in too. The military setting might also imply comparison to Nintendo's Famicom Wars series, but really they're nothing alike - Operation Darkness has a strong focus on individual character development, rather than faceless grunts. The similarities to Valkyria Chronicles are worth particular mention, since quite a few online have described Operation Darknessas the X360's nearest equivalent to Sega's fantastic PS3 exclusive, and they're not wrong.
Operation Darkness
Both are set in a fantastical re-imagining of Europe during World War II, and feature supernatural transformations as a central story and gameplay element. Both also contain unique field commands to be called in, individualised trait-enhancing character skills, new weapon purchases & acquisition, character levelling, plus specialisation for snipers and bazooka-carrying tank busters. Play badly and there's also permanent character death - oddly this was condemned in Operation Darkness, though barely mentioned in reviews of Valkyria Chronicles, despite being far stricter in the latter. Hell, there's even an unavoidable cut-scene in both games where a main character is killed by a sniper, in addition to numerous other smaller similarities. Astonishingly Operation Darkness came out first, and Valkyria Chronicles was released a mere six months later in Japan, making direct influence unlikely. The two games also obviously differ hugely when it comes to their turn-based mechanics, withValkyria Chronicles mixing in real-time movement and attacks, but Operation Darknessis honestly the closest Xbox 360-exclusive alternative you'll find.
Alot of people complain of the camera and most are correct some of the camera angles are really weird but to me anyway doesnt take away from the game like many reveiwers would have you beleive, the game is hard to find in the wild trust me I know first hand but I wouldnt part with my copy for anything, its a great game and I would totally recommend it, fact is you dont see or hear anything about it anymore and thats sad because a second version of this game would be very refreshing especially if they took care and made a sequel that was flawless.
I have also been watching alot of WW2 documentaries on the Pacific battles and have been playing alot of Pacific Carriers.
And I have been playing Battlestations Pacific which I own digitally since its hard to find physical copies here in Austin, but this is a great game to play especially after getting yourself pumped up after watching pacic documentaries.
Its also a great game to play online and if your a WW2 buff like me one you should at least check out.
