Greetings,

Well it has been a while since I have written a blog, probably like 2 months. The reason is the usual, getting caught up in work and life in general. My birthday was in early September, it is amazing how fast time flies as I get older. I cannot believe high school and college have come and gone already. Never did I see myself where I am today, I don’t mean that in a bad way, I just thought I would have been married and had kids by now. I am still single, lol. No complaints there either as friends of mine have gone down that path and it doesn’t seem necessarily appealing to me. With work constantly having me on the move (geographically), I have not got a chance to meet anyone anyways. Those are just thoughts running through my head lately. I may be getting set to move again here in the next few months.

Thank you to everyone reading, here is what I have been up to;

PLAYING

Destiny (Playstation 4)

A co-worker of mine totally caught me off guard when he told me that he just bought a Playstation 4 and was heavily eyeing Destiny. He seemed like the “cocky/bro/jock” to me at my initial impression, but after talking with him he played WoW, Diablo 3, Counter-Strike and a lot more hardcore games than I did.  So we talked everyday about games we played and he single-handily talked me into buying Destiny, because I originally had zero interest in it because it was a MMO. So I played it and got my character to level 10 and that is where I stopped… My co-worker and I did some missions together, talked a lot about it and it was cool.

He then left my job, I continually played and lost all interest without the constant conversation. I eventually sold the game as I didn’t care much about it anymore. So my impressions of the game; the gameplay was the best part, shooting was fun. The loot system was a lot like Diablo 3 or Borderlands, I didn’t like it as much.  The MMO nature of the game was what really turned me off the game; playing missions over and over again in the same areas wasn’t appealing to me and the multiplayer just wasn’t enough for me. The visuals were outstanding I will say, the cutscenes and gameplay were definitely “next-gen” in my eyes.

Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition (Playstation 4)

This is my first Diablo game. I have had experience with the Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance and EverQuest: Champions of Norrath games during the Playstation 2 era, which I enjoyed immensely. I popped this game in the moment it arrived in the mail and haven’t looked back. This game is awesome for when you want to chill and slaughter hoards of enemies with chance for some awesome loot drops. My only complaint I can think of is that this game seems too easy at times. I am playing on Expert difficulty my first time with the game and series and die hardly at all. As of writing this, I have defeated Diablo and am currently working though Act V.

My character

I like this game a lot, it offers gameplay I can jump in and play for 20mins to whenever. The Nemesis System is pretty awesome too, the few times I do die, when I jump back in, I will get a notification of a message in my inbox to find that a PSN friend avenged my death and I will get a legendary item. I have fought one nemesis, and he killed me, lol, it sucked. Loving this game.

Darksiders (Playstation 3)

I have been playing this game for a long time. I will continue to chip away at my Playstation 3 ridiculous backlog. Long games like this take especially long for me when I am splitting time with Diablo and Destiny. I beat this game last night finally though.  I liked this game a lot and wish I had played it when it was originally released, because it’s pretty awesome. God of War is what this game is exactly like, only longer.

Mark Hamil as the Watcher was a nice touch, he sounds like the Joker and there’s nothing wrong with that. One part of the game that was frustrating was the portals part, I think the game Portal stole that mechanic from this game, lol, jk. I didn’t like that section of the game and now I kind of wish I didn’t buy Portal 2 semi-recently because that was super frustrating for me. The bosses were awesome and to be honest, the final boss in the game was the easiest. I didn’t mind though as I was ready to complete the game and move on.

RECENT PURCHASES:

Killzone:Shadow Fall (Playstation 4) – Saw this on sale online for like $12, decided I would give it a shot at that price. I would say that I am a fan of the series, so I am interested in trying it.

Crazy Taxi (PSN) – Bought on PSN Flash sale for $2, I play it occasionally before bed. Still a fun arcade game.

Max Payne (PSN) – Bought on PSN Flash sale for like $2 as well, I thought it would be cool to dip into every once in a while.

Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles HD (PSN) – As a Playstation Move owner, I buy as many of the interesting games for it as I can, especially when their on sale on PSN.

Counter-Strike: Global Assault (Steam) – My former co-work is 100% responsible for me buying this as well, lol. I like it, it’s fun to play. I suck at playing games with a mouse and keyboard though which you definitely need for this game.

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix (PS3) – Bought this on sale, adding to my backlog. I loved this game though and will probably buy the 2.5 HD remix as well when it comes out.

Crysis (PSN) – Bought on PSN Flash sale, you see a trend here? For $3, I thought why not.

UPCOMING GAMES

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

I will probably buy this pretty soon. All the good reviews and gameplay footage I have seen make this seem like a game I will really like, especially because I like the Assassin’s Creed and Arkham games which this seems to be a blend of.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

I will definitely be buying this game. I thought that COD: Ghosts was just ok, this game looks more interesting though. In the gameplay footage I have watch, it reminds me a lot of Titanfall, no problem there because as a Playstation 4 owner, I didn’t play it.

Thanks to everyone for reading :)

I wish I'd made my friend's Let's Play session of Shadow of Mordor. I can't do repetitive missions either, so I probably wouldn't like Destiny. And COD: AW looks a lot like Halo to me. I'd be excited for Kevin Spacey being the villain if I was an FPS guy. Love his character on House of Cards, which he seems to basically be playing in the trailer.

Hope the move goes well. What do you do for work?

i work in the construction industry in the management portion. It's interesting, but you contstantly have to follow the work.

I have never watched House of Cards, but I have heard the comparisons. Does he play a villian in that series?

In my opinion, yes. But there are people who watch the show and root for him and I hope they never run for office, even if I think they are otherwise decent human beings.

I wish I had a PS4. I want to play Killzone really badly. I'll have one eventually though.

Darksiders 2 is going to be free soon on Xbox 360. I've always wanted to play this series.

I remember reading the reviews on Darksiders II that it has a loot system added and you feed weapons to cursed weapons to power them up. Sounds cool. I like the art style of the games. Although they are violent, they have a pretty colorful art style.

I like the Max Payne games.  I played the first 2.  I bought the 3rd game a couple months ago and hadn't started it yet.

I always enjoyed the Max Payne series as well. The first one was probably my favorite, but I haven't played the 3rd. It got fine reviews I believe...

Good stuff on the pickups. Crazy Taxi is a big favorite of mine. I want to get back into the Dreamcast version, but first I have to find my cables for the dang thing. Destiny can be lots of fun, and then it can be monotonous. I should jump back in, but I need to find a lot of free time to dedicate to it.
