Monday Wants To Fight Me

You know Pixlbit Monday isn’t starting out as I hoped. First I’m supposed to do something another person could have done on their own, didn’t, and now expects me to do it with a classic response of “it’s easy”. Yeah if it was easy YOU WOULD HAVE DONE IT ALREADY! Then I look down at my laptop’s charging cable and it’s frayed. Apparently part of it got dragged under my chair. Great. I went on Apple, and Best Buy and yep that’s $79 I have to spend on a replacement.

You know what would be great is that the cable that goes from the little power box to your laptop was a magnet on both ends so if say a cable gets frayed, you could swap out the $10 piece with a new $10 piece instead of having to buy a whole new piece. Blah…and before PC folks chime in, I had something similar happen with my PC laptop and that cable was around the same price for a generic plug. Oh Monday, you could have been nicer.

So that is the start of this week. The weekend also piled on, and after a certain point I just said F it, and just camped out in front of the TV, not listening to anyone, just the sweet sweet sound of Football…and a rare trip to the weekend Swapmeet. I hope your Monday is going well. Tuesday you better step up!

The past Friday and Saturday I spent a lot of time sitting on the floor arranging my games in their hiding place. I actually returned the discs back to the cases for the disc-based games while keeping the current gen (last gen to you PS4 and XBox One owners) in the sleeves under the TV. I don’t know how I did it but I seem to have misplaced a couple of game cases and manuals. I’d like to blame that little bastard that hides in the dryer and takes my socks.

Yeah that guy.

So to drown out all this stuff I try to get a quick battle in on Star Wars Commander and I accidentally push the wrong button and I start a battle with a base I didn’t want to fight…and I take the L. Dang Tuesday hurry up already!

There were some bright spots. I found some new stuff at the local Swapmeet but I’ll share that on Friday, and in my go to Tablet games there was some updates, which I’m excited for

Since it is October, the Simpsons have their special Halloween episode and Tapped Out does a special game mode that goes along with it. Since I’ve been playing this game for 2 or 3 years now, it usually has something to do with Trick-or-Treating at your friend’s versions of Springfield.

This year you drop off these little alien eggs and they go searching around collecting these little green blobs. I’m assuming this will be part of the Simpsons episode. There is also a leaderboard among your friends on who is collecting the most. EA also updated the menu so you don’t have to constantly scroll to find something you want to buy within the game. This is a plus when you have to go through all the buildings just to find the a certain tree you wanted.

Wait my other go to tablet game just got better as well!

Plundernauts just added multiplayer. Yes finally you can put your ship up against other pirates in the Plundernauts galaxy and duke it out.

The thing is you have to spend a small amount of gold to look for other players…uhhh what? Yep, I think this is a move for you the player to also play through the single player missions, and collect gold, instead of stockpiling it and buying some nifty items to upgrade your ship.

The Pirate vs Pirate option is fun, and much like Star Wars Commander you are playing the AI using another person’s ship. So while you’re sleeping someone else can plunder ya booty. Right now the PVP is only open to players over the Level 20 mark, which means I’m looking at attacking everyone at Level 20-22 who have slow ships. That’s just how I roll. I’m looking at the leaderboard and some people seem to spend all their time on this game. I’m waiting for new levels.

In console gaming news it’s still the same old stuff. I had this grand idea over the weekend to jump in and make some progress in various 360 games I own, only to get sucked into Tombstone on Netflix and This Old House on the PBS app. I blame Apple TV from preventing me to try my grand idea.

Ooh did I tell you the new Walmart has those “remastered” consoles like the Atari, Intellevision, and Sega Genesis that are filled with a bunch of games and the Genesis can also play your carts for $40?

I was tempted to buy the Genesis because it came with 80 games but ultimately I decided against it because it’s just an emulator and my Wii is already the dedicated emulator (the Dreamcast will join it just as soon as I can find the power cables).

Alright Pixlbit I am off to fight Monday, and enjoy a bagel. Oh and for you keeping score it is a nice 71 degrees here in sunny southern California and it should top out at 95! Yay no more triple digits!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

EDIT:

I forgot to mention I wiped my PC Laptop this weekend. The goal was to get it to be faster and to use it as my Budget Steam PC, and FLAC library. My dedicated FLAC player gave me some fits but other than that, I’m going to start installing some old games on my laptop later on today. Hopefully Command and Conquer will run smoothly on it.

actually that Sega console seems pretty cool!

I hope that your monday gets better.  I broke a power charger once for my old pc laptop by dropping it on the floor.  $50 down the drain.  Fucking bastards.

Oh Monday ended with me burning my tongue on some stew. Not a happy camper. Tuesday is so far looking good.

I hate when these dang things break. My PC one had a short in the cable and I had to replace the whole dang thing, just like I will with this Macbook plug. Ugh.

I'm lucky, I live next door to someone who is incredibly techie and when I needed a new charger, he found one online for about $25.

Remember we're talking about Apple here Tami, a company that delights in fleecing their customers. Note the proprietary connector on the unit in Chris' picture.

I haven't owned an Apple product since...oh, hey... I don't think I've ever owned an Apple product! We had Apple IIs in the computer lab at college, but that's the extent of my having used them.

Apple = Terrible

I found a third party plug on Amazon for $30 but there are no reviews so I'm a bit skeptical on buying it. I might as well just pick up the Apple version at the Apple Store and call it a day.

Apple's products are a bit pricey, but I've had my Macbook Pro for around a year and no problems *knocks on wood. My last two PC laptops were already slowing down, with the same wear and tear.

My PC's problem is the battery pack doesn't always want to stay in. Damn ASUS laptop.

I kind of want that Genesis console with 80 built-in games.

And you mention watching football, but don't mention that Cowboys win over the Seahawks?

Hope you have  a better Monday and a good Tuesday!

Ouch that must be a hasstle when moving the laptop around. That fear of it just shutting off. I would be pissed...and blame Monday! Damn You Monday!

79 bucks?

One more reason I hate CrApple.

Apple isn't bad. It's the fanboys/yahoos who take their laptops to Starbucks more to be seen than to actually do work. I don't care for the "hey look at me attitude" that some people have with Apple products.

When people ask for advice on what to buy I always ask them what are they going to use it for. If its casual internet use, and using Word I always so go with PC. There are tons of options and you'll save hundreds of dollars. If you're going to do more creative things like music, movies, and graphics go with Apple.

I forgot to add: WHAT THE HELL APPLE, $79 FREAKING DOLLARS!!!

Yeah don't get that SEGA Genesis console, it's awful.  The sound is way off and only half are actual Genesis games.

Geez that sounds terrible. I might as well just plug in my Genesis. Thanks for the info, I would have been pissed if I burned $40 on that.

"Dobby doesn't know where sir's socks are. Dobby's been cleaning the loo sir."

"What's that on your feet Dobby?"

"Oh that. Sorry sir, it's just sir's socks need wearing to get rid of static cling."

<humm> "Alright then Dobby. Give me back my socks."

"Yes, sir."

Damn that Dobby, he not only stole my socks, he's getting rid of that static cling out of them.

Static cling is exciting! Save some for me!
