Hello, I'm new to Pixlbit, but I've been around the proverbial block a few times. A couple of you may remember me as jelliSHOT from 1up. I was never a prolific blogger, but I did try to leave comments when I could. But it takes me forever to write anything lol.
So why didn't I create a Pixlbit account when 1up shuttered? Well, I was spending a lot of time reading, commenting, and occasionally writing blogs and commenting on articles, and as much as I enjoyed it, I thought that 1up's shutting down was a blessing in disguise in that I could use all that time to draw more. Plus, about 27 months ago, I became a father, and anyone who has a kid knows what a commitment in time (and money!) they are.
So why am I creating a Pixlbit accout now? My kid is finally independent and I am drawing for a living. I wish. Actually, the truth is that I still found myself spending way too much time on other gaming websites rather than getting any work done, and anybody who has been on a gaming site lately knows how much garbage and negativity you have to sift through just to read a well-written review/article. I wanted to come back to a site where the gamers were actual people, and not just a hateful comment posted under an article. Knowing more about people by reading their blogs gives me better perspective to see why they feel the way they do on certain topics. Plus, most of the long time 1uppers were just really nice people who happen to like playing games.
Anyway, I look forward to reconnecting with some of you and maybe participating a little more.

Hey, Jesse! Good to see you here! Welcome to the little refuge of sanity known as Pixlbit. We may not always agree with each other here, but at least we're pretty civil about it. And yeah, I'd rather read blogs by people who just like playing games and aren't into the drama. I get a better idea of what games I'll buy by word of mouth than by reviewers on the big sites.
Congrats on your new addition. A couple of other gamers of my acquaintance have recently had little ones, too.

hey welcome aboard! I was a 1up refugee too, but I finally joined the staff here to provide reviews and articles. It's nice here. 
Hey Matt! I remember you from 1up (Sneenlantern was it?) That's cool that you became a staff member. Looking forward to reading your reviews and talking crap about them in the comments sections j/k lol.
Welcome to PB. I think you'll get exactly what you want if you're trying to avoid negativity here.
Thanks. I'm still going to visit those other sites, but I need a little balance. I don't mind healthy debate, and there is a lot of that going on elsewhere, but sometimes it feels like the staffs and moderators of those sites have a singular voice (I don't want to cry agenda because I've grown to respect a lot of those writers and still want to give them the benefit of the doubt), and I see people who offer a counter argument often met with dismissal or worse. With the community providing much of the content on here, I don't think that would be a problem.

Hi! I play a lot of different types of games with a slight lean towards Japanese games. To give you an idea, I'm currently playing Diablo on PS4, and I can't wait to play Bayonetta 2. Some of my favorite series are Uncharted, Final Fantasy, Tekken, Street Fighter. I've been around awhile (read:old lol), so I grew up playing Castlevania, Mario, etc.

I came from 1up, too. I don't know if you remember me or not, but I was there for a good solid eight years. I'm sad they shut down, but I'm glad that Pixlbit is around to pick up the slack.
I agree, it is hard to find good gaming news sites anymore. There is a site that I am rather partial to when it comes to game reviews, though: GamerDad.com!
Of course I remember you Cary! You're a legend. And I also remember you work at GamerDad.com lol.

Welcome aboard fellow 1 upper were all pretty much x 1 uppers to and yes I agree the negatively on most sites are rediculous but here were freindly and no drama here glad your with us. 
Thanks. Glad to be here. It's amazing how many people still have fond memories of 1up. It had its share of trolls and I didn't always agree with the writers/editors, but I met a lot of cool people on there. It was a shame to see it go but thinking about it now, I think it may have been for the best. If it were still around I bet it would now be another GamerGate battleground. At least this way I can remember it for all the positive experiences I had there.
