Cat Update: Update on my cat ... and my car sucks

I'm seriously considering the name Katara ... I mean, her calm demeanor and affection make me think "waterbender" (able to heal in the Avatar cartoon universe), plus she came in a box that said "refrigerate upon arrival." But damn, kitty has claws, and so could that character. I think it fits.
Anyway, she hid underneath the futon in my apartment's living room and wasn't coming out when I first brought her home. Nor when I came back with her pain medication the vet forgot to give me my first stop there to bring her home. I can't bee too mad, since she just got spayed and wound up in my apartment. I'd be skeptical too if I just had my ball's cut off and came via cardboard box with holes to a stranger's apartment. At least she meows quietly, but I felt bad. Poor thing.
She didn't trust the food and water I gave her around her hiding spot when I left for work either. Things didn't get any better when I came home from work knowing she needed her pain med (one syringe shot to the mouth) after 7pm and lured her to the edge of her hiding spot only to grab the scruff of her neck and wedge the syringe into her mouth to shoot the supposedly chicken-flavored and "easy to administer" - never trust a vet who tells you anything is easy to get a cat to agree to, by the way - medicine into her mouth. She retreated back quick after that betrayal of trust and again, don't blame her. I wouldn't trust a strange man with a syringe either.
This was after my car stopped running not far from my apartment and several people helped try to jump the battery, push it up a small hill and check my oil after I tried to see if gas was the problem. Ultimately, my car is waiting in a Subway parking lot and one of the guys who seemed knowledgeable about cars doesn't think it's the starter either. Might be the damn alternator again.
Good news is, after taking a shower and lounging around in front of her hiding spot a bit, I heard her purring and she even poked her head out a couple times to check her surroundings when I was there. After presenting her with some turkey she still hasn't eaten and some playtime with feathers on a stick, she's rubbed her head against my hand and let me scratch/pet her while she purrs. Progress.
I'm very happy to have company now, even if she needs to adjust. Now ... stats homew ... zzzzzzz
I'll take pictures of her when she opens up more.
