EGHIn today's blog, The Original Ser has some explaining to do while waiting for a FedEx truck.

*****

Well, shoot. I missed another day... I was so busy with filming and other stuff yesterday that I totally forgot.

Well, I've definitely got at least some time today, since I'm waiting to have a 3-day PAX East 2013 badge delivered by FedEx. No, not my badge, it's Daeruna's (I have the luxry of a press badge.) Now, it says on the tracking site that it left the Dartmouth faciity this morning at 7, but no one has shown up yet. Not that it means too much if last year was any indication.

The last time I had something delivered by FedEx, (coincidentally for passes to PAX East 2012) I literally waited all day for a truck that never came, yet somehow they marked my package down as a "delivery exception" that read that I wasn't home. curious.

The thing is though, just like last time, I could be working on so much stuff right now. CHC, Bullet Heaven, anything. But nope. I have to sit here by the widow looking anxiously out the window every time I hear an approaching vehicle. My only hope is that Purolator isn't filling in for FedEx, because I saw one of thier trucks jauntily pass my building without so much as slowing down.

Well, I have about two and a half hours left before I have to get my ass to work, and if no one shows, I'm not going to be a pleasant panda.

But that's not all I've been up to. Yesterday, I made the decision to sell one of my two Turbografx-16 systems, complete with all the hookups and even a copy of Dragon Spirit, since it's a loose copy, and I got a complete Japanese one in seattle with my PC Engine Duo-R. I'm hoping to get $110 for it, and it looks like I have a buyer lined up.

turbocharged

The same guy that wants to buy my recently-obtained Game Boy Player, in fact. If I can get this $135, I'll be much more comfortable in Boston next week!

Speaking of the trip, as has been the custom for the three years I've gone to PAX East, I have a new pair of shoes. My first pair were awesome; They looked Mario-themed and matched the Mario hat I bought before leaving. They were pretty sick, but ended up getting worn out by 2012.

wutwut wutwuuuuuuut

But they made my feet hurt pretty bad. I made the switch to Nike Air Force 1s because they were really freaking comfy and had the all-leather construction I needed to keep them from falling apart like many of my other shoes have in the past. But one thing that I can't stop is how worn out these things tend to get, since I wlak everywhere. So my black and yellow Air Force 1's from last year have a hole worn into them from the bottom of the shoe right through the sole, meaning it was time to get them replaced. So I stuck with the Air Force 1s, and these were the colors I decided on.

YUHHS

Pretty slick, eh? Looking forward to strapping these bad boys on next week when I leave. They feel as comfy as they look cool, so it's gonna be pretty good. And PAX East too. Who all is going? Let me know below.

Anyway that's it for now. For my parting shot, here is my rat Checker. She's about five months younger than Astrid, and she's kinda timid, but I'm her special person, and she has been crawling all over me this whole time. Enjoy!

Love the smudge on Checker's nose.

I had the same woes with UPS last week. They delivered my Journey soundtrack to some unknown neighbor, who was kind enough to stick it in my mailbox before they went to work the next morning. And not only was the package misdelivered, but they broke the jewelcase in half, and I'm pretty sure the CD inside didn't fare much better, but I didn't open the shrink-wrap to find out. So I had to contact Amazon, and they shipped out the replacement immediately, via the US Postal Service. Guess what? It arrived early, intact, and delivered to the correct address.

Hope your package comes soon.

Checker started out with three tones of beige all over, but turned into a Himmie. We named her Checker because of her ridiculous speed. We have another dumbo named Shiro, who started off cream-hooded with a white stripe on her nose (hence the name Shiro, or, "white".) The stripe is still just barely visible now.

Good stuff man, cool that you were able to get some stuff signed. I think PAX East will be my con of choice. Travelling from one end of the continent to the other is rough Undecided

what games are you waiting on?

the postal service and other companies are hit and miss around here. The UPS guy doesn't come around til seven at night though for some reason, the late ass bastard.

I lose on all fronts here, too. Canada Post, FedEx, Purolator, UPS.... It all sucks LOL

Checker is cute! And those are some cool shoes you have. I would love to go to Pax East someday. I understand that it is everything you wish E3 could be. More for the gamers than the press and industry types. Sounds like fun. Have a great time when you go.

Checker is cute, but noisy as hell when she chews the bars of her cage. She the only rat I have out of 4 that makes such a huge racket.

PAX East is pretty bomb, but I always end up stressed out. So much work, you know? Interviews and filming and stuff... this year, I want to hit some panels up. I missed all of them at East 2012, and attended only one at Prime '12 (retronauts wutwut, wutwuuuuuut!)

Mmmm. I can't stand Fedex or UPS. When I had my PS3 refurbished by Sony, they made me ship it Fedex. When Sony sent the refurbished PS3 back, Fedex couldn't find my house for three days, and when I called to ask them where the hell my PS3 was, they wouldn't let me come to the distribution hub to pick it up.

I always, always prefer the United States Postal Service over Fedex or UPS and will choose USPS for shipping when the seller offers that choice. The USPS is far faster, cheaper, and better than either service, and if for some reason they can't find my house I can go to the Post Office and get it. I suppose that isn't an option in Canada, though.

Naw, Canada Post is all we gots outside of the "premium" couriers. It's on par with USPS though.

PAX East, PAX East.

Why does everyone make a fuss about this event? I always thought PAX Prime was the superior experiance?

Having been to both? East is where it's at. PAX Prime might be on the west coast, the the layout at East is far and away better by the longest shot. It actually also has more attendees than prime by thousands (over 70.000 in 2011, I believe, and more since then!)

Also, I live on the east coast (Nova Scotia, boiiiii!!)

Damn, I wish I could visit Boston again.

That hat and shoes combo sure is purdy.

Right? I was super stoked to find the shoes, and they were 50% off from $60. Epic win, if you ask me.

Good stuff man. That Turbo Grafx is a flashback to going to my friend's house and playing games (do kids do that today?)

Nice pickup on the sneakers! If you want comfy, try out the Nike SB line. Their skate shoes have a ton of cushoning on the tongue, and in the heel.

Me too. My fondest TG16 memories were from when I didn't even have one, and my friend and I played it in his basement. Air Zonk, Aero Blasters, Final Lap Twin, Valis II, Monster Lair... So much goodness.

I'll have to look into the SB line. To the googles!
