Halloween Mini-Recap, And I Played A Bunch Of Games

Oh one hour of sleep I’ve missed you! For you folks who don’t move their clocks Sunny Southern California got to move its clocks back one hour early Sunday Morning which means, well nothing really especially since I’m still waking up at 6:30am, even on weekends. Blah! Anyways Good Morning Pixlbit Nation, how was your Halloween Weekend? Anything fun happen? Here in the neighborhood we had 10x the kids as last year! Yup ten kids total showed up to the house and got a handful of candy each. One kid freaked out, started running to show his parents, and almost dropped all his candy. Best costume of the day went to a little kid who dressed up as an old timey weightlifter. He got two handfuls of candy. I broke my rule of not giving teens candy when everyone was finishing off trick or treating, there was a guy walking around I’m assuming is his younger brother. I gave him a handful of candy because he was doing this for his bro.

This is my leftover bag (not including the two bags of candy in the closet). Easily my favorites of the bunch are the hard to find Giant Gummy Lifesavers. During this time I was waiting for little short people to collect their share of the tons of candy at the house, I started what I think is fun…I continued to clean out my 2TB External hard drive.

I tackled the fun task of sorting through my old iTunes library, somewhere in the neighborhood of 55,000 mp3s. I paired that down to maybe one or two thousand tracks I’ve kept, mostly audiobooks, hard to find mixtapes, Marching Band & Drumline stuff, and live albums. At some point I will move those over to the current library. You might be wondering why I got rid of those files, and the main reason is my current rips are better quality AAC files. The audiobooks I don’t care because they are just folks talking. I think the current library is around 33,000, with 1,000 or so songs are mixtapes, and DJ remixes.

I finished off cleaning the old iTunes library, and now I’m just sorting through random files, and getting rid of stuff. I now have 1TB free which is a good feeling. I’m trying not to get my 3TB drive filled up with a bunch of BS stuff, keeping it just for FLAC files and PC games.

Speaking of games, I played a bunch this past weekend. The best part is, I spread my gaming among different platforms.

Driver San Francisco – 360

I am two chapters away from the end of the story mode, and the pacing has started to pick up. I’m actually enjoying the shifting from one character to another, and the little unlockables are making the game much more enjoyable. My favorite part is the GTA-like feel of buying parking garages and doing crazy jumps off of ramps, the bumpy streets, and collecting random icons while driving around The City. I’m still on the lookout for the physical copy of this game to drop in price so I can add it to the library.

NCAA Football 14 – PS3

I finished off my one year at Texas Tech by playing TCU for the National Title in the Superdome. The Red Raiders beat TCU 28-21, and after that I decided to go back to a small school just to build them up, so I went with Old Dominion University who finished that season at 2-10. I find it a lot more fun to build up smaller schools so I’m going to stick with them for awhile. After moving ODU to the MAC (I had no idea the school was in Virginia), the Monarchs are currently sitting at 7-1 and beat Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit – PS3

After reading Leeradical’s blog about it a couple of days ago, I thought about going to GameStop to pick up NFS Rivals Complete Edition, but decided against it because I got lazy. I decided to “shop” through my games and I found that I have Hot Pursuit so I popped that in. I was a bit rusty so there was a lot of crashing but after 10 minutes or so I got into my groove and played through a couple of races, took the top spot on my friends list, and made a bit of progress. I think I would unlock more if I played through the cop levels, but those really don’t interest me, and I’m holding off on those until I have to play them.

Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation – Vita

I jumped back into this game and I finished off a mission and I am halfway through another mission. You want to know how far I am in this game? I don’t think I even hit the two-hour mark. Sad? Yep. But at least I am getting back into it and I am starting to get into the game. The one thing I need to get used to is the slower pace in comparison to other games where you can run in guns blazing and get things done. There is a lot of repeating sections of missions.

Treasures of Montezuma Blitz – Vita

I haven’t played much of this game in the past couple of months, so much so I have banked around 120 lives in this game. Its crazy especially since I would play the heck out of it the first year of owning a Vita (I think I may have bought my Vita two years ago). Last night I was playing and I achieved the final trophy that I’ve been chasing for a while and cleared the entire board.

Denizen and Nuclear Blast were the two toughest trophies to get because it involves a lot of time and a bit of luck.

Simpsons Tapped Out – iPad Air/Nexus 7

This is easily my favorite character from the Treehouse of Horror stuff.

Star Wars Commander – iPad Air

I finished off the Sickness special levels this past weekend and earned enough points for the VT-49 Decimator Strike

I am currently upgrading my headquarters to Level 7 because I needed to use my ore or else someone would have invaded my base just to steal it. I’m currently a big target because two of my three shields are also being upgraded so I’m trying not to keep too many credits or ore in my base.

Run Sackboy! Run! – iPad Air

I spotted a familiar face in the App Store Sunday Night, and proceeded to spend an hour playing this side-scrolling runner.

For you fans the game looks just as good as the console versions the controls are your basic touch the screen to jump, and swipe to speed up.

There are the same things you’ll see in the console games like costumes you can purchase

With the in game currency. One of the things I really like about tablet games and console games is that they offer items that can be unlocked in one and used in the other. The one drawback is that I have to use Facebook instead of using my PSN login to have leaderboards, but it doesn’t post to Facebook (I bet there is an achievement to post on Facebook). If you like LBP, give this a try.

Injustice – Nexus 7

So Injustice got updated and there is a new 15-day group of fight missions where you can unlock Raven. Since I built up a bunch of characters I played through this group in two days without using the time cheat…out of fear I’ll lose my progress.

During my final couple of missions the game started to act funny, and after playing through one fight, I did a hard reset and the game went back to normal. After playing through the last fight a couple of times I finally unlocked

I currently upgraded her to level 9, and she is more powerful than Teen Titans Cyborg, who I use as my third go to Gold Level character, and he’s a level 21. I’m still building up characters because I am stuck before I think I face Superman.

Well Pixlbit I think we shall end our conversation for today. The weather is finally fall like and I got a bit excited about this that I added my favorite playlist of the year to my iPod

Oh yeah I’m that guy and I am skipping Thanksgiving by playing Christmas Music really early this year! (I think I’m in the clear because Target is already airing Christmas commercials).

That’s all for now, more later!

I didn't know they made another Driver title after Driv3r. The first two were most of what I played on my older brother's PSX back in the day.

Oh yeah there have been a couple of Driver games since the Playstation, love those games. Driv3r I heard wasn't good, and the other one I played was Driver Parallel Lines which is my favorite so far. I believe there was one on the PSP but I haven't tracked down a copy.

Are you buying both digital and physical copies of games?

Nah, if it is a game I want to try and it's cheap (under $10) I'll get the digital. I figured that's the going rate for a game if you rent it and try to rush through it. If I like a game and find a physical copy that it is also cheap I'll buy it, and remove the digital copy to make space on the hard drive. I'd rather have the physical copies, but the digital works fine as a place holder.

That's kind of the way I'm doing it too. I have a lot of Xbox Live Games on Demand games now because of sales and Games with Gold freebies. If I really like a game, I like to get the physical copy.

Cutest trick or treater I got was a little boy who couldn't have been more than 3 or 4 walking with his parents.  He was wearing his Spider-Man PJs.  He saw my Minion shirt and said, "You got onion on you shirt."

Haha Onion shirt. My younger cousin gets angry when I call them yellow beans with goggles.

I have found out that I am not as big a fan of Nerds as I used to be. Damn now I'm stuck with all this candy.
