Happy freaking Friday Pixlbit! I’ve been waiting for this day since well Sunday but it is finally here and I am ready to enjoy this weekend. I found out that a neighborhood garage sale is happening tomorrow…at 6:30am. Blah, but I am there to look for Lego, CDs/Vinyl some old GI Joes, and some old video games. Hopefully everyone will have non-eBay like prices. I like checking out sites like CAG, and Reddit just to see what folks pick up at garage sales and man they find gold. Last time I went to check out garage sales it was in my neighborhood and I found one CD, and was followed around by the HOA Security.

Since it is Friday, I am ready for another edition of Quick Hits!

Chris’ Favorite Trashy Reality Show

As you know I do like my reality shows. They’re cheap, fun, full of drama, and its “normal” people. This past week marked the return of Vanderpump Rules. For those of you who don’t know Vanderpump Rules revolves around Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump and the goings on in her restaurant Sur (at some point I will eat here). Last season there was some crazy drama that leads to a couple breaking up and one of the more vocal cast members Stassi S, left for New York. Well Stassi is back and she is trying to live life away from Sur. Oh good times. I know you’re thinking, WTF Chris, and I do agree with you, but it is so trashy and I got caught up watching it during a marathon and it was always talked about during the Right Reasons Podcast.

Ok see this picture? Good, let’s give you some background. First and foremost I don’t get why people in Southern California wear those beanies. I guarantee you its 70 degrees during taping. Hell it was 90 degrees a couple of weeks ago and I saw a guy in shorts wearing a beanie at Target. Also there is a DJ who is wearing his headphones around his neck…away from the turntables. This pic screams Douchbag just with those two scenes. Now going into the show beanie guy was dating that girl in the picture. He became friends with Beats guy but apparently didn’t know Beats guy started seeing his girl. When Beanie dumped the girl, she started dating Beats guy. Beats guy apparently saved all his money, bought a BMW and does nothing but take selfies (Instagram played a big role in this first episode) and that was brought up and there might have been a fight at the end of the episode.

Bonus: another storyline was Stassi (the girl who left and came back) and her friends decided to ditch this party, go somewhere else and posted pics on Instagram. The people at this party started an “Instagram War” and posted their own fun pics. Yup must see TV right here.

**Sorry to you good people who read that and said WTF out loud. I told you it is trashy fun television.

Aztec Sports

*coughs….BASKETBALL IS BACK! Oh tonight the Number 16th ranked Aztecs play an exhibition against Point Loma Nazarene who is based in San Diego. Apparently there are like 10,000,000,000 religious based schools in San Diego, and each one of them has played SDSU over the past couple of years. Fisher likes to give these small schools some TV time and be able to play in front a packed house, and experience the full college atmosphere.

I bought some new basketball gear

Last night was the semi finals of the MWC Women’s Soccer Tournament where the host Aztecs took on Colorado College

The game went to shootout where CC missed two kicks and the Aztecs moved on to the finals to face Wyoming. The soccer teams play on the Sportsdeck, which is one of my favorite venues because it is on top of a parking structure. It used to be a ground level field (during my first couple of years at State) and then they built the parking structure/soccer field.

Chris Votes

This past Tuesday was Voting Day, which means on Monday I was doing all my research about the various props and a quick scan of the people I should be voting for. California screwed me over because there was no write in option for Governor. I didn’t care for either candidate so I left it blank. Since my polling place is in a Holiday Inn Express my plan was to vote early, and then hit up the free breakfast (this is what George Washington would have wanted) Well I forgot about my plan and ended up showing up around lunch, with my voter book and proceeded to knock out my ballot within minutes.

I got a swanky sticker. I wish we had some of the more fancy stickers that other states have. C’mon California, step your game up!

Randoms

I saw this on Reddit and I thought it was funny and interesting

Apparently you can have an interactive experience at a Seattle Mariners baseball game with your 3DS. I guess that beats well actually watching the Mariners play.

I wonder how many other teams do this. I know there is an app you can use in the 49ers new stadium where you can order food from your seat, for a $5 delivery fee.

Since there is a special Futurama/Simpsons crossover, Simpsons Tapped Out has a special character

I would have liked Bender Bending Rodriguez, but the creator of the show is cool too.

Because for some odd reason I was up at 5:30am I saw that if you ask Siri “Siri can I call you Jarvis” she has some funny responses

As someone who played the Alto Saxophone from 5th Grade all the way up through College, Happy Birthday Adolphe Sax!

After reading this article, Dirk Nowitzki is my second favorite basketball player in Texas (behind Kawhi Leonard of course)

Pickups!

Games

The Swapmeet has been good this week. Since the time change I need to get an earlier jump because more folks are showing up. I like to just roam around until the majority of people start arriving. Anyways from a couple of vendors I found these games for $5 each

The cases are dirty and they will most likely be swapped out for new clean cases, but everything looks good, and no scratches on the games. Currently I am at 48 Dreamcast games.

Random iPad Air/Nexus freebies

I download this earlier this morning (after asking Siri about Jarvis), and I’ll give it a try later on today

These were in some free Amazon Package including a couple that was in Humble Bundle

Music

Ok so I’d rather have physical than digital because I can control the quality and format of my rips but this deal was just too good to pass up. It appeared on Slickdeals a couple of times, and I was bummed when I missed it the first time, but a couple of days ago when I was waiting for my alarm to go off, I was looking through the Slickdeals app and it appeared

AC/DC’s complete discography for $7. The collection isn’t split up into albums but each “disc” in the 27-disc set is an album (unless it is a double CD album). I read that there was a Metallica version awhile back and that one I would have jumped on as well. I think this was a glitch because after an hour it was gone again, but I got it, and I am freaking excited! After I finish with this blog I will go change the album covers because right now my iPod is being synced/charging.

Before we call it a blog, I know many of you probably saw or read about Lauren Hill. ESPN did a great piece on her that I guarantee will get your allergies going or have some dust in your eyes. Anyways I saw that Wheaties made her a special box

Well folks I must be off, AC/DC is calling (crazy story about their drummer), and I might take a little field trip to the local Mexican Food spot for a Chorizo Burrito.

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

did Siri really say that?  I need to use that more.

And that Vandepump show sounds... insane.

Yup Siri does have her moments. I do like that Android and iOS has these little Easter Eggs.

It is...and we're only in the third episode.

48 Dreamcast games. That's cool.

Thanks! I wish I would have picked up more when GameStop was selling them. It is such a fun console.

I got my Dreamcast when Gamestop was just getting ready to send them all back to the warehouse. I think it was $20, or maybe $40, I forget.

It was $20. I got my Dreamcast around the same time.

I just cant do drama reality shows, its too much stupid for me to take in one day. I also just cant imagine people that I share a species with being that ridiclous on Tv. I think old age is ruining me Chris. Dont grow up, go to Neverland.

Haha, that's why they are so much fun. On one hand you think "these people can't be serious" and on the other you want to go to their restaurant just to see how they behave at work.

No worries about getting older. If it makes you feel better last week I got excited when I saw a deal for a slow cooker. This used to be reserved for when I found some random part for my PC Tower

The limit for reality shows for me is Kitchen Nightmares, Hotel Hell, Hell's Kitchen, and The Amazing Race. The first three are kind of like watching a train wreck, lol.

Love Hell's Kitchen. I keep telling my friend we should try and get into their "restaurant", order something, and then send it back saying its cold just to see Chef Ramsay yell. I tried Amazing Race and I can't get into it. I don't know why, form what I watched it would be something I dig.

My SO, Jason, says Gordon Ramsey reminds him of an angry, foul-mouthed muppet.

Sigh, I once had over 50 DC games but that has dwindled since I started selling off my games. They seem to be really popular on Amazon.

I have no tolerance for reality TV but like Tami I watch The Amazing Race. I like all the cool places they get to see and for the most part it doesn't get on my wick.

I was watching The Voice but I may not even make it through this season. My wife and I record it and cut out everything but the performances which makes it bearable. We got to see all of the battles without once having to put up with the plastic fantastic Taylor Swift.

I'm totally fed up with them randomly replacing  performances with 10 second snippets and then last week they showed only one half of a battle and it was the person they didn't show who got picked to go on.

The final straw however was when they announced today that you can now download an app that lets you vote at the beginning of the show. Yes folks you can now vote for contestants before you've heard anyone sing. So long story short, I'm out.

I saw that there are a bunch on Amazon. I might use that as my final option if the local Swapmeet vendors run out of stock

I wish the Voice would go back to its original format in the first season where you saw all the acts perform. It was so much fun the first year, and the second, and then it started going downhill. They have an app now? It sounds like they are trying something from that singing competition on ABC where you can vote, and you decide. The best part about that app is that you can't start voting until they start singing.

Yep, all my remaining DC games are on Amazon.ca. One of the first casualties was Skies of Arcadia.

The Voice did start out well. I was very impressed initially but like you said it's been going downhill for a while.
